My Band And I Need Some Couples Therapy
holly82 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok...I have come to hate this thing inside me. I'm hungry like I've always been but I throw up a lot when I eat. I just don't know what to do so that this band and I can get back in sync with one another...actually I don't even know that we have ever been in sync. I lost 30lbs when I first had it done, but have gained some of that back....that was over a year and a half ago. I'm just so frustrated! -
I am failing at this and I have only myself to blame. I was banded on Dec 13, 2010 and have only lost 30 lbs. And most of that was at the beginning...and the worst part is that I know I have only myself to blame. I have had maybe...4 fills? Anyway, I'm almost at my max. I just need some encouraging words for getting back on track and making good food choices. That's my biggest problem. I can eat pasta all day long without it giving me any problems so thats what I eat most of the time. *sigh* I just have to get control....and it's not easy.

symptoms if you eat too much?
holly82 replied to mominoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weird... But when I eat to much I have pain in my port area too. Also, I can feel my port under my skin if I eat too much but can't feel it otherwise. I know that's insane but it's what happens. -
I have a hard spot above my incision that feels like my port but when I go to dr they say my port is below my incision...I'm confused...

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone knew of where I could get protein chews. I hate protein shakes, but want to make sure I get my protein in. Also, I'm at work and can't update my weight loss ticker, but I am down to 274 so I have lost 26lbs! Today makes 6 weeks since my surgery.

I almost took a swig of a beer today without thinking about my band. The reason I turned it down had nothing to do with my band, but I just didn't want it. My question is have any of you ever messed up and took a swig of a carbonated drink? If you did, what happened?

I am soooo tired of water. I was addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper and am missing it REALLY bad. I have tried stir in flavors and I don't like them. I have tried tea and I don't like it. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try? :-(

Okay, first off, I was banded on December 13. Saturday night I was eating a pop sickle and started getting a horrible pain below my breasts. I started moving around thinking it would go away and it didn't. It actually go way worse. I was hurting under my breasts, into my chest, the middle of my back, and down my arm. I kept thinking it would go away and still only got worse, so I called my aunt who had also had lap band and asked her if she had experienced anything like that and she said she hadn't. SO, at that point I was hurting so bad I was sweating and nauseous. So, I called my mom to take my to the ER. On the way I called my doctor and he told me to take some Gas X and if that didn't work, then take some Pepto...well, before I could get back home, it was completely gone. I assumed it was crazy gas and went on about my business. Well, it happened again today. Not quite as bad, but it lasted the same amount of time, about 45 minutes. My question is, has anyone experienced this? It's kinda starting to freak me out.

Some excedrin only contains acetaminophen so it's okay to take. I know this because I take Excedrin tension headaches for mine and was STRESSED when I thought I wouldn't be able to take it. The most important thing to do is to read the label and see what the active ingredient in your headache medicine is. My doctor also says no to NSAIDS,

Did anyone drink last night for NYE?
holly82 replied to txprime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed the same thing on this board. If all the judgmental people on this board were so great then they would not have needed the band to begin with. I am almost 3 weeks post op and did have a couple of drinks last night. I know that it probably wasn't the best idea, but I did it anyway. Today is a new day and I will get back on track. That's all we can do when we do something we know we shouldn't. -
Band and metal detector!

If you've recently purchased a new pair of shoes it could be that. -
I am 10 days post-op and my appetite is coming back full force! I guess I should mention that my band is completely empty right now. Has anyone experienced this? Can you eat like you always did when your band is completely empty?
-
I am 13 days post op and I keep having pain where my port incision is. The incision is pretty much healed. It''s more like an inside pain. Is this common? When does it go away?

Hi yall!! I'm looking for a good product to put on my incisions (mainly the port incisions) to reduce scarring. Can anyone give me suggestions? I know everyone talks about Mederma, but I've read a lot of mixed reviews on it. Thanks so much!!!

Soooo....I am 11 days post op and am just wondering what everyone was eating at this stage...

Almost 2 Years, No Weight Loss
holly82 replied to Nadine.Carr.PhD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that wasn't very supportive. Unfortunantley, I was just banded so I don't have any experience to share with you. Have you talked to your doctor or maybe saw a nutritionalist? -

ROLL TIDE!

I was banded on Monday and am on a liquid diet. Today I eat a very small serving of mashed potatoes. Is this super bad? I mean, I know it's bad because of the carbs, but is it bad for my healing....
-
Thanks! All surgeons are sssooo different on the post op diet and mine requires two weeks of liquids so I'm a week down and still have a week to go. Then I do two weeks of mushies and then I can start attempting regular food. And I also thought chicken broth was NASTY!!! I didn't expect it to be so bad when I tried it. LOL
