    Piercings

I had to take all my piercings out, but I've had them all for years. The latest one was 4 years old. Also, I was not allowed to wear panties and did NOT like it. As soon as I was out and coherent I asked if I could put them back on. The hospital gowns at the hospital I was at came around to the side and tied so there was no opening in the back (thank goodness!!)

    Carbonated drinks

My dr says no carbonated drinks either, but he says it because it will make your stomach stretch and cause the band to slip. I'm started to feel like there really isn't any scientific proof to the whole carbonated thing because so many dr's say different things; however, I don't plan on going back to them just because I have been able to quit them, so why go back. I have a questions about it causing band erosion and I'm asking this because I honestly don't understand...or maybe I just don't understand fully how my band works...but anyway...If the band is on the outside of the stomach, then how does acid from carbonated beverages, which is on the inside of the stomach, affect it.

    Is this bad?

Thanks everyone for the supportive replies and not so much for the one(s) that just seem negative (and I think it's very easy to distinguish between the two). My dr has already okayed me for thick soups, which is why I figured the mashed potatoes wouldn't be too bad. I only ate very few and ate them very, very slowly. The main reason I ate them was because I had been feeling very dizzy and light headed for two days and thought that maybe if I had something of substance it would help. And it did.
  4. Has anyone on here had to give themselves Lovenox injections post opp? Mine are very painful and keep causing bruising and knotting.
  5. Does anyone on here take Robaxin? I just want to make sure it's okay to take with the band. I take it for a pinched nerve and forgot to ask my doctor if it's okay, but I REALLY need to take it tonight!

    Lovenox

Thanks for the advice. From what I've read, it's probably because I am going to fast and moving the needle to much. At least now I know for sure that nursing is not my calling. LOL

    Lovenox

I'm not complaining about having to do it. I just wanted to know if anyone is having the same reactions I am. Also, I didn't have to do any drink the before nor after surgery...
  8. I had surgery Monday and am still having gas problems. Did anyone else have gas that lasted this long? It's getting annoying!
  9. Hi! I was banded Monday and am feeling great, but I AM STARVING!! I have been on clear liquids, but luckily I get to go back to regular liquids tomorrow, which includes protein shakes and cream of chicken soup. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions of things for my liquid diet. I have 10 more days of it. I am a VERY picky eater, which makes this process that much harder. What I was eating was cream of chicken soup, sugar free fudgepops, and drinking water.
  10. I have BC/BS of Alabama and have been denied because my weight for 2008 was just under what it needed to be to qualify. Has anyone else had this happen? The lady at my dr's office said she was going to appeal. How long does that process take? I am really anxious and don't want to wait any longer and will be devastated if I don't get approved!!!
