I seriously could have slapped her

Well next time you see her snacking on something you should smack it out of her hand and say, "you shouldn't be eating that." Just saying -
Plastic surgery, xcess skin, questions for those who went through it.
Cangel76 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to loose about 100lbs all together. 80 or so left. So I see some people here say they didn't need plastic surgery, that they just exercised. So some questions for everyone. 1. Skins elasticity decreases with age, do you think that causes the skin to not bounce back as quickly? 2. Do you think that there is a way to avoid going under the knife? 3. Do you believe that if you loose too fast the skin has a harder time going back to normal? 4. Has anyone had to loose a 100lbs and not have to have surgery? I don't know if I would want surgery, with a little one, the recovery time being a bit, I don't know. How badly do I need to have that skin gone? Won't the perfect body become my obsession rather than my health? I am just curious how other people view this. I got the lap band for my health 1st, then second, yes, we all want to fit into smaller and cuter clothes. If we denied that we would be lying to ourselves and others, that is a perk to loosing the weight. I LOVED my breasts but even as a teen I was a C cup and hoping to hold that but that, honestly would be the first thing I would probably want fixed. Again though, vanity and I can NOT afford vanity. LOL I guess if I was single I would view it as a neccessity. In some moments I am like, "man I need to win the lotto," but then I just feel vain. Like, I shouldn't even consider such an option. Just wondering what people think and experiences. -
My joy, putting on my size 20 pants and having room. Had to buy a new bra because the one I had the cup size was too big, now that was sad, seriously, not that large to begin with. Here is one for you, being able to see my toes. My fat is dropping down, but, this is going to sound weird, my lower stomach is smaller. I am smaller in the upper torso and my face, everyone notices it, I feel awesome when they do, I just want to prance around. LOL

Have I told you all that I love you! LOL I love that I can ask this question and get sooo many variant on answers. Honestly, if I had the extra money, I don't know that much would stop me. I try to live a life free of vanity, envy and greed, but sometimes, you just want to look as good naked as you do clothed. LOL -

WHY is everyone so against WLS?
Cangel76 replied to mpope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar experinece to annieM. I had the lady who did the swallow test the day after surgery say to me, "but you don't look big enough for the lap band." How big do you have to be? I am 5' tall and 234lbs, I am carrying an extra me, should I carry to extra mes or wait until all of my vitals are all over the place. Right now I have good blood pressure, cholesterol is good, the only thing off is my hypothyroid (that won't change) and my PCOS, which will get better with weight loss. So in the end, I had to do this for me. I was fat, I feel under the Morbidly Obese catagory. Funny story, even my doctor called me skinny. LOL I know I am not skinny but I am not like some who come up to this point when it is really late in their weight loss struggles. I am 34 and I have tried everything, this was what I needed to do for ME and my family. I wish you the best of luck. -
Thoughts on nutrients, fast food addiction, this forum and willpower.
Cangel76 replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This site is a support site. So people come to complain just as much as people come to acknowledge their results. I think this is super important to understand that this site, like any other community is going to have those who agree and disagree. There is going to be positive and negative commentary on the band. As far as food addiction, there is an emotional aspect to that as well and people need to learn to deal with that emotional connection to food. As well as the fast food life style. I can see how lack of nutrients can become a problem, same with lack of fluids. I imagine once I get my fill, trying to balance out when I can eat and making sure I get enough Protein in me is going to be a challenge at first, but like any new thing it gets easier. -
November 2010 Bandsters - post op
Cangel76 replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of the HUGE things my Doctor stressed is that everyone looses differently. Some people actually need more calories to loose or their body goes into starvation mode. I am not loosing that quickly either. The large ticker move is because my ticker goes from my starting weight and includes six months of very slow pre op loss with the nutritionist. -
My husband no longer wants to have sex with me. TMI ALERT!!
Cangel76 replied to nameunknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know where you live but we have some places around here that have a sliding scale. Not sure if that would help. I think he is most likely feeling insecure with your weight loss and him being overweight. Make sure he realizes that you love him no matter what and do your best to sit down and talk as much as possible. See what the real problem is. -
I see the doctor on Thursday and though the weight loss I have had is not drastic it is weight loss. I think part of that is becaue I am hungry and I haven't started exercising yet. I am supposed to be on mushy foods but I am just chewing the crud out of most foods and blending up things like my Chili. Which is more like a pile of meat because I make it super thick. 4oz of my chili is about 23 grams of protein, I even have it as a snack. LOL I have paperwork to do and such for school and regular crap around the house. I am 205 on the scale today, I am hoping by thanksgiving to be down to Onederland. Time to hit the gym

Exercise ideas to prevent flabby arms? Legs?
Cangel76 replied to brew44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have talked to a lot of people that didn't even need surgery for the flab because of their age. The younger you are and the slower you loose weight the better chance you give your skin a chance to bounce back. The older you are the less chance you are going to have to have that skin bounce back. You also have to do leg and arm exercises. -
Tomorrow is two weeks out, I am so excited to be two weeks out, one more week of mushy foods. Go me! My scale this morning said 205.5 but I will not consider that my weight until I am at it for a while. I am sitting here watching my husband play with his CPap machine and I am thankful that I might get real sleep sooner or later. Besides that, things are good. I actually don't have much to talk about.

Headache And Sleepy All the time
Cangel76 replied to antetz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The headaches can be related to not getting enough liquids. They give you an estimate of the amount of liquids you should have, if you aren't getting them that can cause the headaches. The fatique is the adjustment to not getting that many calories. I had the same problem. I am going into week two tomorrow and I am still feeling light headed and tired. I am on mushy. -
When they say if you want better results, they are talking quicker result. The more extreme surgeries, sleeve and GP, and DS, are all very quick weight loss. However, five years out you will be the same as if you got the band. The band is slower, 1-2lbs a week. This is good in the sense as it doesn't shock your body. It also allows the skin to have a little bit more of a chance to bounce back. The results can be slower and really a bit more frustrating. So make your decision based on how you want your body to react. Just because you get the more extreme surgery doesn't mean that you can't stretch out your stomach later and just gain the weight back either. All the surgeries require a life style change. Good luck!

I have noticed all the diets are very different. I do note though that if I try to push foods that aren't mushy, if not chewed well enough I will be burping and gassy all day. It means I was naughty.

Hello.... My psychological fight with food, I mostly won.
Cangel76 posted a blog entry in Blog 104709
Today was a rough day, I was at church all day. So I grabbed a shake in the morning and 6oz of tea. Then I headed to church with a bottle of water. I went down stairs to the social hour and they ended up not having their normal fair, just snacks. They did have cheese so I took two pieces of cheese. The trouble came when I went to my mothers and she had veggies and dip, then mozzerella sticks and junk. I took the breading off and ate just the cheese and I had some veggies. Probably not the best idea, as now I am gassy. I did stay away from all the breaded stuffy and potatoes. My hubby brought me a protein shake though, thanks to him for that. I came home and had my Bison Chili all pureed. I was starving. It was so hard not to eat everything. With out restriction I am always hungry. So it is a battle. Seeing as my scale is whacky and is never consistent, my lowest weight was 205.5 today, my highest was 208.5. Feeling okay, just tired. Everyone said I looked nice today, that felt good. -
HUGS, I think you need to call the nurse and ask to speak with the doctor. If the surgeon isn't willing to work with you, you might need to find another one. Good luck! I am sure once you speak to the Doctor then you will have better luck.

So here is a question, are you rewarding yourself at your goals?
Cangel76 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Are you setting up one large goal and giving yourself a reward at the end? If so what is it? 2. Are you setting up mini goals and rewarding yourself at those, like every 25 lost or 50 lost? If so what are your rewards? I know we get to do mini shopping trips every 30 or so lbs so we have close to fit us, but beyond that, what are you rewarding yourself with? I know once I hit my goal I am going for a tattoo, or maybe a breast lift. he he I am going to get Gargoyles on my back one cover his eyes, one covering his ears and one covering his mouth. So what about you? -
Hey there fellow nuts. I ended up helping a friend at her holistic fair today, in order to prep, I hate a shake in the morning and bought an Isopure to keep my protein up. I didn't get home until 5:30 and got some of my chili and chewed it well. Probably not enough but I did my best, seeing as I was starving. I must make a note that eating when super hungry should not be done. I am glad to keep fluids up though. So that was good. Oh and about this TMI topick Bowels? Mine are still not working right. I need to take something. Nearly 11 days post op you would think things would be moving right. UGH, I think if I could use the bathroom I might loose 3 pounds!

I have come to decide that the scale is evil. So I did a test, depending on where I step on the scaled depends on my weight. Well that is a freaking PIA. So today I weighed myself in at... 207, 207, 207, 207 211, 211, 210.5, 210.5, 209.5, 207.5, 211, 211, 211, 211 LOL you get the idea. I think it might be time to get a new scale and start the weight in process from a NEW scale that has a consistant weight. (Insert eye roll here) I made Bison Chili, in 1/2 cup of Bison there is 23grams of protein. So that is good for me. So I ate that, and chewed it pretty well. I think the beans only added another gram of protein or something. Not sure on the calories, but little to no sodium. Anyway, I guess that is it, I should get going. Much love to all who read and all who don't. Continue success on your journey.

2 days after surgery... having hard time getting shakes down
Cangel76 replied to Sha'sJourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really quick for you, walk, walk, walk, walk. sip sip sip sip.... That is the trick, two days out post op was hard for me, each day got easier. I FORCED myself to take in the liquid. FORCED and it worked. If your protein doesn't get up there you will be dizzy and woozy. It also helps in the healing process. Good luck! -
I am so thrilled with you. If you work out you can absolutely NOT go by the scale. Muscle weighs more then fat, so if you built a great deal of muscle during that week or month, the scale will hardly budge. It is how the clothes fit that count.

Hopefully my doc just has sensitive fingers...

Beth keep us posted on the nodes. Perhaps you had issues with your thyroid coming on all along and that was part of the battle. I wish you the best of luck and hope it is nothing. Good luck -
Pre Op was Protein and veggies. Post op was liquids for 7-14 days, I only did 7 days. I am now on mushy foods, I can take just about anything and eat it now, just have to either blend it or chew it up really good. Mushy can include sugar free jellos, protein puddings, beef. It is pretty varied. I have been craving veggies oddly enough, but have to do meat first. LOL I wish you the best of luck. I am loosing it slow but working with hte nutritionist, think my calories were too low at first. My body went into starvation mode and started turning calories into fat. Just take it easy and know, 1. Everyone looses at a different rate, 2. Sometimes the weight loss will slow down and then gain momentum again.
