Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO (NJ)
Kathryngnv replied to jay150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Horizon Direct Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NJ and it took a very short time for the okay. I think the paperwork went in late October and I had my surgery on 11/4. Good luck! -
Whoa - I'm sure Pablo didn't mean to be insensitive to mentally challenged people or those who care for them. Sometimes our fingers go at a faster speed than our brains. Lets not beat each other up over an unintentional "slight". Good luck Pablo. I like kay2004's comeback!

Thanks so much for the upbeat comments!! Get a bit tired of hearing all of the "whoa is me, I cheated and am not losing weight". I think this whole process begins in your head (I know mine did). I was banded on 11/4 and am so psyched! Someone on the blog or forum said they were on day 5 and ate two bratwursts and felt terriblly guilty - ya think???? How did they even get one down? I'm looking forward to mushy food - I had cream of wheat made with one percent milk (my surgeons considers it a liquid) and thought I was in heaven! Keep up the good work (and words).

I was banded on 11/4 and am having the same feeling. I think the answer is to slow down when eating - gonna try it. Am so happy I had this done though!

I had my banding on 11/4 and came home on 11/5. Don't have the pain I thought I would have, more like a soreness from doing too many sit ups. Not really hungry and have to remember to get everything in that I need. My doctor says that for the first week liquids are more important than the protein - after that the protein will count big time. Made the mistake of getting on the scale when I got home from the hospital and saw that I had gained 12 pounds from all of the IVs! By this morning it was miraculously gone (loved it even though I know it's not a real loss. Really nice being waited on. Wonder how long I can milk this???? LOL Never thought I would look forward to cream of wheat - soooooo good.

You're not alone with your thoughts! I'm having the same ones and my surgery is 11/4. Right now I'm just trying really hard to stick with the pre-op diet! -

Three days until mine!! Getting nervous now. Also really, really hungry. Are you on clear liquids and protein powder?? -
Any ideas behind this reasoning...
Kathryngnv replied to bwhitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is this coming Thursday, 11/4. My surgeon seems to be from the same school of thought as yours; however, three family members have had the gastric bypass (in another state); one of who was done by a pioneer in the surgery. I know that all surgeons differ - but......they all had to follow a low carb, high Protein diet for as long as one week and as short as one day (one done by the pioneer). Also, they all had different lengths of time post-op for liquids and purees. All were also done through laporiscopy.
