Hello everyone,
I had my gastric sleeve plication on the 6th. I was pretty nervous. I hadn't ever had surgery and had no idea what to expect. Also, I had the surgery in Tijuana and I must admit I had safety and hygiene concerns. Finally, the plication procedure is pretty new and, despite the fact that I had done extensive research, I feared that the surgeons would make errors.
Well, I'm very pleased to report that, so far, so good. I was up and walking within about 20 minutes of the surgery. The next day, I was sore, but feeling relatively energetic. I took a pretty long walk without any problems. I've been sipping on liquids, a protein drink, some broth - and am tolerating all. All of my post-op tests have been good. Today, I'm still sore, but took a good walk. Like many of you have noted, removing the drain was the most actively painful part of the procedure.
I'm taking good care of myself and trust that all will continue to go well. I hope that those of you are are receiving surgery later this month also have an experience that has been as uneventful and relatively easy as mine has been. Good luck to all!
