Hello everyone, I had my gastric sleeve plication on the 6th. I was pretty nervous. I hadn't ever had surgery and had no idea what to expect. Also, I had the surgery in Tijuana and I must admit I had safety and hygiene concerns. Finally, the plication procedure is pretty new and, despite the fact that I had done extensive research, I feared that the surgeons would make errors. Well, I'm very pleased to report that, so far, so good. I was up and walking within about 20 minutes of the surgery. The next day, I was sore, but feeling relatively energetic. I took a pretty long walk without any problems. I've been sipping on liquids, a protein drink, some broth - and am tolerating all. All of my post-op tests have been good. Today, I'm still sore, but took a good walk. Like many of you have noted, removing the drain was the most actively painful part of the procedure. I'm taking good care of myself and trust that all will continue to go well. I hope that those of you are are receiving surgery later this month also have an experience that has been as uneventful and relatively easy as mine has been. Good luck to all!

I'm scheduled for gastric sleeve plication tomorrow - 10/6. Plication is relatively new - the only difference between it and the gastrectomy is that, rather than removing a portion of the stomach, the stomach is folded & sewn to create the small pouch. The research looks excellent, but I'm wondering if anyone has had it and what their experience has been?

I'm getting mine done on 10/6/10. I'm pretty nervous, actually. I've never had surgery before and have never spent any time as a patient in a hospital. I'm also 53 years old and wonder if I'm just too old to really benefit from this. Everyone else sounds so excited and, right now, I'm anything but excited. Anyone else in the same boat?
