DeeDee40 replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im gonna say it again. I AM HAPPY WITH ANY POUNDS LOST! I'm sorry if you felt I was being hard on your friend. But I feel how I feel. I hear what you and him are saying. Trust me I get both of you guys point. As I said before I'm harder on myself than anyone or you guys could ever be. I'm still new on here I will try to post my feelings and thoughts better. I'm learning quickly. -

To btrieger Whatever dude! I'm already hard enough on myself, I dont need your help!!!!!!! Why would you be so agressive and rude to my posts! You can keep that comment to yourself. I always think there is more I could be doing, thats what I meant from the 3 weeks comment and 15 pounds! I am VERY PROUD of myself. I just always take it to the extreme in everything I do! So forget you, I can deal with the arrogance if I need it bad enough other places, not on HERE! I thought this site was for motivation and help from others that were going through what I am going through. Maybe I was wrong. I will keep that in mind the next time I post! Thank you -

I was banded on Nov 11th 2010 and I have lost 15 lbs. I feel like I am behind some of you guys. My weight loss isnt great for 3 weeks but its less 15 lbs then when I started, I guess. Everyone is doing so well! I have my first fill on dec 15th. I am ready to get this ball rolling. I love my band so far!!! -
Newly Banded...and need help!!
DeeDee40 replied to snordstrom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 3 weeks out. my doctor has only told us right now while we are learning about the band that to just eat smaller portions. Make sure it will last for 3 hours. The carbs were to be very low, while we might think that is easier to eat, its not always the best thing for us. Protein we are supposed to have 65 grams for a women and 75 for a man (per my dr's office). Are you pretty much doing close to that? -
Banded yesterday and had a horrible experience with post-op care.
DeeDee40 replied to HunnyBun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The is no way in HELL I wouldnt be complaining to someone! I work at the hospital and patients speak there mind all the time, AND IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I would call them on Monday and say all of your concerns to the head of the hospital. You can ask for the patient relations dept and go from there. But, you dont know if you were the only patient that has complaints on this, you might find out others have spoke up too. But definitely call. -
Dr. Michael Snyder - Great Surgeon!

You know to be honest I havent tried a lot of different foods. I have eaten fruit and have not had a problem. I have tried junk food too (not much) but you can tell the difference automatically. I knew I wasnt aupposed to eat that but (me having a hard head) I tried a piece of my sons swiss roll and I was a mess for a couple of hours! You will learn its not worth it! I promise you that. It is a different world "being lapbanded" but you will get used to it. Once the lapband is in you have no choice. It will remind you constantly that I dont either want that in my stomach or that I have overeaten. I go in for my first fill on the 15th, and I am kind of excited. I feel I need more restriction since my swelling is down. I'm proud of my 15th pounds but the scale has not movedin two days (which is frustrating) but I just remember. I didnt get FAT overnight and I wont be skinny overnite either. but I will work towards being healthy!!!! Have you had a chance to read my previous posts I have been trying to document my own struggles. I did have a problem with nausea and pain. But as soon as I changed meds it was much better. look at the posts if you can. Do you know what band you are getting? Any questions you can always ask (I'm here) I'm also sorry you had to see someone that was so upset at the office. I have not encountered that and I can tell you, you proably wont again, but you never know. Dee -

CONGRATULATIONS on you coming to the lapband side! It almost seems the same as my experience with my surgery. Are you in Colorado? I am 3 weeks post up and I feel almost 100% like my old self. Except I am 15 pounds smaller! Good luck with your band. And welcome to the other side. Dee -
Dr. Michael Snyder - Great Surgeon!
DeeDee40 replied to bearbandit's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well hello everyone. Buttercup, I had alot of questions about the surgery too before hand. Since the surgery (which has been 3 weeks now) Yeah!!! I would be lying if I say the first week was rough for me after surgery. If you look at my posts you will see I ended up with extreme pains due to air left in band after surgery. But honestly, The 5th day when i could not take it anymore, I called the office and they fit me right in.! I just want you to know that when dr. snyder and his staff say they are there for you before and after surgery THEY ARE. I have had to call Dr. snyder on the saturday after surgery and he answered and helped me through the nausea with sending a prescription within 10 minutes. I personally think that means alot for your surgeon to take that much time and care for his patients. That was one of the things that attracted me to dr snyder. I was orginally scheduled to have lapband with another doctor and could never get a call back. So that was it for me. If they couldnt get it together before my case then what would happen if something went wrong. So definitely research your surgeon. I have looked on this site and others and that doctor has a bad followup care. After saying all that Dr. snyder was everything that I was looking for and I never went back to the other office. I knew 2 people that had surgery with Dr. Snyder one was a bypass and one lapband. It has been a huge difference in my life. The lapband is wonderful! I have only had it 3 weeks but I love it so far. Surgery was good. I was proably in pain for like a complete week. I still have pains in my shoulder but its bearable. I am back to work. Although I am on a weight restriction as far as work. But you ask would I do this again? As of right now DEFINITELY!!!!! I feel my life coming back 100%. I feel better all the way around. Since sugery I have lost 15 pounds. i know its not tons of weight but its 15pounds less than 3 weeks ago.! If you have any questions or you want to pm me. I'm always here. Good luck to you, you will do great!!!! -
I was banded on the 11th of november. I have been chewing gum for probably the last two weeks. For some reason, gum keeps me going. I dont want to start eating everything in sight ( which I might do or not do). But I know gum gives me a satisfication that is really weird. I feel like I'm eating when it must be a chewing thing. I guess I just need to have my mouth moving to feel satisfied. It's proably in my head. But hell if it works, I'm down for trying. Also my surgeon never said I couldn't chew gum so I guess I never considered it a problem. but when I go back on the 15th of december I will sure ask him.

So what is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?
DeeDee40 replied to rhondas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I will be going to my man's family house. I'm still just sampling food to see what this band will let me do. So I really don't plan on overeating at all! I had my first (slime episode) so now I am being really careful. I'm hoping to get some soft food down. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! -

I had surgery with Dr. Snyder on November 11th, 2010. I have nothing but great things to say about him! He has given me back my life. He is so full of knowledge and concern for his patients well being he is a very excellent surgeon. I recommend him and all of his staff! If you have any questions I will answer anything I can. You have definitely picked a gifted and talented surgeon. -
Whoever said they had ZERO pain post surgery is a LIAR!!
DeeDee40 replied to mikki21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with everybody. I had surgery on the 11th of November and it wasn't an easy road by far! I had those gas pains so bad I personally thought I was going to lose my mind. But it did get better. It was about 8 days when i really felt relief enough to get my self together. I had to go to the doctor to eben get some air that was left in my band out!!! Things happen I know that. I have the shoulder pain that comes and goes (and when its here ,MAN it hurts like a son of a gun.) But just like everyone said I would start to feel better I know that it will. Just try and take it easy and remember this to shall pass. But I will never tell you or anyone that this surgery doesnt hurt (after) especially with my situation. But know it gets better. Best of luck to you. -
I did go to my dr today. After he checked me and I told him again all the pains I was having, he was very supportive of me! I was so worried. He called in his nurse that does the fills for his office to talk to me. She said its rare but she has heard of this happenning before (with all the gas pains I have had) and she wanted to try something. Even though I just had surgery on the 11th maybe I had AIR that was left! She had me lay down and did what she called an unfill! She took out 3 1/2 cc of air out my port!OMG it was like the biggest present anyone could ever give me. My eyes starting tearing up and she thought she had hurt me but god what a relief! She said when they do the surgery they test your port and everything and some air had gotten left behind. Yes, it sucks it happened on my case (especially since I work in the medical field) but at least all this pain was not in my head! I have to tell u I feel so much better right now. So for anybody that feels like something just isn't right please go get checked. Because if it had not been for my fellow bandsters I would not have even known that was I was going through wasn't normal and that I should call my doctor. So to you guys that gave me hope and your experiences I am truly grateful. When people started saying go to the dr its exactly what I did. Just wanted to let you guys know you are truly an inspiration. I could not have gone through this without you! So, now I am ready to work this band, I even ate yogurt today. Finally! So wish me luck I have not thrown up or anything. And the gas pains are bearable! Yeah! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

November 2010 Bandsters - post op
DeeDee40 replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want to thank you guys so much for the advice. I was really in a bad way last night. After being on this site I was still up until 3:30am in serious pain. I took some of your advise and broke down and called the doctor. He thinks I might have a gas bubble under my rib cage which is why I am getting so much pain. He gave me an appointment for wednesday (tommorrow). I will keep you guys posted. I am still excited about this surgery and what I have gone through. I guess I'm just hurting and I really was venting. I'm definitely ready to get to my happy place with this new band. But, it makes me realize through this site I am not alone! And that in its self has been a huge help. Thank you everyone. -

But I walked alot today (MAYBE TO MUCH) but I have to really put a consious effort at getting this gas out of my chest and shoulder. I wish you luck while we are both dealing with this. Just know there is light at the end of the tunnel. And Lord, am I ready for the light to shine.! So lets hang in there. OKay? -

Devo-Tee I feel your pain. I hurt more than when I came out the hospital. The gas pains are the worst and now that it is in my shoulder it hurts something fierce. I'm doing what I am supposed to be doing and the pains are still there. I'm at a loss on a solution. I guess I'm just venting! Sorry -

Okay- I have been posting but I dont know where they are! I was banded on Nov 11th ( i think the same as topazz) but I dont feel as great. I stayed a little longer in hospital because or extreme nauseous and pain. when I got home the next day I hurt but not that bad. On Saturday I hurt like a truck had hit me. I called my doctor and he gave me a new med for nauseous and the pain. The throwing up is much better. BUT, OMG the pain in my stomach and chest and left shoulder is so BAD! My chest and shoulder are like throbbing ridiculous. I dont know if I should call my surgeon again to tell him these pain meds are not working!!!! My shoulder is just simply killing me! I have not slept good since at least Saturday. Im drained. I'm noy hungry and I have to sometimes remind myself to keep drinking all my fluids. I guess because I hurt I'm starting to get depressed in a way. My incisions dont hurt that bad (honestly) its the GAS PAINS from hell. I have tried Gas-X, heating pad walking around like I'm crazy. Last nite I walked to my mailbox in the front of my developement just to try and clear my head and didnt even get my mail! I dont want to be a problem patient (especially when I work in the medical field) but something has got to give. The pain is discouraging me even when people have said they can see that I am losing. I dont know what to do. Can anybody give me any suggestions??? Do you think my dr will be mad if I tell him this med isnt working either.??? This pain is really getting to me and I dont know what to do? Please some one give me their thoughts.Does anyone out there have this much pain after surgery that is still there, and if you do how did you fix it? I'm open for anything. It does feel good to hear the compliments ( i'd be lying if I said it didnt) I just need to get to a place I can be comfortable. Thx in advance for any responses. -

Hello, everyone. I got my date I will be banded on the 11th of November! I am very nervous and excited at the same time. Everyone that post has been a huge inspiration to me! I hope to be able to keep posting my progress like you guys do, it has been so HELPFUL. From reading on this website I have put our recliner downstairs, bought gas-x, and made sure I try to stay up with my fluids. All your words and experiences are getting me ready. Please keep this nervous girl in your thoughts. Thx -
Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I am to be banded on November 11th. YEAH! I'm excited and rather nervous at the same time. I have been on this site now for a week and there is so much info on here I feel overwhelmed at times. Oh, by the way. I'm 35 yo and I have a young son. My surgeon is Dr. Snyder. I have been looking at getting banded for just a little while now but I I need this and I now know I NEED to do this. To make my quality of life better, to be a stronger person (inside and out) and to be the best at what I can be. So I will be asking questions proably to many to count and hope for the answers from my fellow bandsters. Because no one can really share this experience but someone that has been were I'm trying to get too. So thank you for this site. If no one else says it today, I really appreciate it.
