Hello everyone, It has been a while huh? I am doing well but could be better. I got down to 189 then packed on 20 lbs after my Grandfather died over the Holidays. The emotional eating gets me everytime....I really wish they had a lapband for the brain! I just signed up for an 8 week extreme weight loss beach body competition. It will involve a very restricted diet and working out every day. Wish me luck....if I could afford it I would get my butt over to the Biggest Loser Fitness resort but I'll have to save for a year before I will be able to go. Best of luck to all of you and THANK YOU for starting this thread up again! Nicole

I still haven't heard from the doctors office to start up all of my apts. Don't they know how excited I am to get this 250 lb ball rolling? I feel like calling and saying ...did you forget about me? But I pretty much already did that last week when I called to make sure that they got my fax with all my info. I just want to see this thing materialize. On another note, I had my parents over for dinner the other night and as she always does, my mother brought up the whole "we're really going to do it this year" diet crusade pact. I almost felt bad about not telling her my little secret but then again, she made it perfectly clear that she didn't want to know. My mom is my best friend but she just can't deal with the thought of a chance of somthing bad happening. Even when the somthing bad is only .7% and the chance of somthing good happening is 93% more likely to happen. My husband has been a real trooper about this. He has made it clear he is perfectly happy with me the way I am and I love him for that. I love him for a lot more than that but that is a real biggy. Hopfully tonight I'll be writing in my journal again saying that I just got the call. Oh to add to my list of things on my first entry: 25. I would like to walk with nylons on and not hear the friction from between my legs. 26. I would like to stop fearing that I will fall through the floor while taking a bath because of my weight and having the parimedics have to come find me in the basement naked in an awful fat position. I really do think of this every time I take a shower! 27. I would love to wear sexier underwear...I'm sure the big granny briefs aren't doing it for my hubby.

congrats to all of you who have either conquered the evil airplane belt or are on their way...it is quite a happy feeling that only we LB girls and guys can share! I also noticed that the elliptical glider at the gym that hit both sides of my butt while working out, now has a couple inches of space on either side. NICE!

I just wanted to share with all of you the wonderful moment I had on April 1st in row f seat b of Jet blue airlines. I was...as always very nervous about the seatbelt fitting...and as I clicked it and pulled it I notice how much belt there was left. Yes, this made me happy but then I tested the waters to see if I could seat my 22 month daughter on my lap and still fit in the belt and....yes ....yes ....yes! I started tearing up and my husband thought that I was crying because I had painful gas from the air pressure. I replied..for once....I don't have gas! :blushing:

I have noticed lately that when I press down on my stomach there is a lump on one side where my abs are. I would say it would be from working out but it is only on one side. I am going to call my Doctor but I am feeling a little scared right now and wonder if this is normal (could it be the band) or if not if anyone else has experienced this. Any responce would be appreciated. Thanks:confused2:

Sue and Steph, Thanks for responding so quickly, I have a feeling that it is my port because I have lost a quick 5 pounds within the last week and 1/2 from really working out at the gym. Could it be that I'm actually feeling somthing other than the layers of fat that have always been there...hopfully yes. Yes it sounds weird but it sure makes me feel good!

Thanks Ladies for all the helpful advice! I will keep everyone updated with my progress....I would really like to .....no...I'm going to lose 40 pounds before Sept. All you guys at LBT are the greatest, thanks for all the motivation. Nicole

I have been going to the gym now for about a couple weeks now and I wanted to make sure that I'm doing the right thing. Iwould love to get a trainer but I can't afford one. Here is my list of questions, I would appreciate it if anyone could try to help out. My daily routine has been 35min on elliptical (400 cals) and then 30 on this new jogging bouncing machine (325 cals). just for the cardio a total of 725 cals burned. After that I have been doing about 15 minutes on either upper or lower body weight training. and then 5 minutes on abbs. My questions: 1. should I be doing more or less of a certain thing to lose the weight? I still have about 50 lbs to lose. 2. How many days should I work out? Is it OK to workout everyday or does the body need time to rest? 3. Is it better to do training first or cardio? 4. when should I start stepping things up? 5. Is there a certain exercise to help with making my legs look straight...I have legs that alway touch at the knees and then go out at the ankles(reverse bow legs!:0) 6. Lastly, I want a bodybugg ssssooooo bad but can't afford one, is it really worth it? Is the wrist band a must have? I will sell my clothes that don't fit anymore to buy one. Anyone have one that wants to sell because they have reached their goal? Thanks in advance for any responses!

Just wondering if anyone knows if it is normal to stay at a plateau after 2 weeks of majorly working out at the gym or is my body just being super difficult. I have worked out burning 600 cals a day for 6 days each week, I also started doing weights, squats and crunches. I feel like my body really doesn't want me to see the 100's! I am so frustrated right now ....I am almost (but not going to) throw in the towel. I just started crying after stepping off the scale today. Any words of advice or encouragment:crying:?

Thanks for your responces...I just checked the measurements and YESSSSS!!! You were totally right! I guess I was just consumed on how miserable I was about not losing that I didn't think to check my measurements. wow, I went from a 52 and 1/2" waist to 48!!!! I will also focus on drinking more Water. I agree with you about the retaining of water.....doesn't sound crazy at all. I really needed a pick me up today and now this has made the day!

My personal challenge for April will be: first week...burn 450 cals on whatever piece of gym (or home) equipment I want 5 times a week second week...burn 500 cals " " third week...burn 550 cals " " fourth week..burn 600 cals" " I will try to get it all in at once but if I have to I will do a little in the morning, and a little at night. I really want to be under 200 pounds next month! Anyone can join me on this one at your own pace or target calorie loss. I made my ticker so that it equaled 22 workouts (give or take).

Since the surgery I have traveled from one addiction to another. First was food, then I got the surgery and then I fell in love with the pain killers, once those ran out I started drinking alcohol finally I gave that up on jan 3rd and have picked up quite a sweet tooth. Is this normal or am I all alone on this one?

I would love to get in on an April challange as well. I'm stuck at 207 and would love to be under 200 by the end of april. I also just joined a gym for the first time since the surgery last year. Anyone else?

I just recieved my new whey liquid protein shots and...Yay....I can do this! Each 3 oz. vial contains 42 grams of protein! I got the fruit punch and it is really good! I thought that I would need to add it to water but it is ok to drink by itself. Even though I could drink it down it 2 seconds, I am going to have 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night because I read on one of the threads that the body can only absorb 20 somthing grams of protein at a time. Just a little personal note, Today I polished the wood work on the walls with lemon pledge and decided to do the whole house pretty much and now, my floors are like ice....both my 2 yr old son and I have to pretty much crawl on our hands and knees to get around the house. What did I do? I just thought I was getting a good workout in my arms and now we can't even walk in our own house! OOOOPS!!:faint:

There are ways of pushing to make things go faster...I had an insurance change and after pleading with my doctors office several times they figured out a way to get me in before the change. The lap band has been the smartest decision I've made in a long time. I know that feeling of shame you spoke of and I totally know what you are talking about. I truely wish you the best of luck and lots of weight loss in you near future. Just keep on believing and it WILL happen!

Hi I'm from Salem nh too! If you need any advice or need anyone to talk about your future just send me a personal message. It will be nice to know someone in my area going through the same thing as me! Best of luck, Nicole

I have been seriously working out at the gym with my sister while she is here and it has paid off. I am down 40 pounds and loving every minute of it. This last fill has been a little challenging but I think if I focus on eating small bites and chewing really well it will work to my advantage. I am not as hungry as I used to be. The biggest challange is going to be figuring out what to do with my kids while at the gym....it has a nursery but just last week my nephew got conjuctavitis there....YUCK!! I started this journey at size 22/24 3x 255 pounds and now I am a 215 pounds 16/18 1x or even XL at times!!! If I had more money I would buy myself all new clothes. Until then, I'll have to invade my mothers closet! Thank God she has good taste!:biggrin1:

Urgent Question about Gum
timeforchange replied to Susan3343's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are eating regular foods yet I would think it would be OK. Can you eat anything or is your food getting stuck? If your food goes down allright I would thinks its fine. Good Luck!!!! -
