Hello, hello, I'm so glad to see you guys. I had my surgery on January 22, 2007. I was on this site faithfully and then thought I could go it alone. Guess what? I stopped losing weight. I started at 212 and I am 170 right now. I need to lose 30 more pounds. I have been the same weight for over a year and a half. I am logging my food and trying to up my exercise, but I think I need support from others who have been on this journey with me. I'm glad to know you are all still here. Keep it up and I will too. edieday

How much are you fills? Does any ins. cover them?
Edieday replied to glamischick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm wondering...once you feel comfortable with the amount in your lapband, how long does the fill last? Will it evaporate, dissolve, etc? Also, how do you know when you need a fill? I used to not be able to eat more than a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food and now I can eat as much as a normal small eater. Edie -
Hi all, I'm the same way. It's hard to change old habits. I was stuck at 170 lbs for almost two months. About 3 weeks ago I started walking and started paying attention to portions. I went to the doctor yesterday and I had lost 5 lbs.

I know exactly how you feel. I have my doctor's appointment this morning and I hope I show a loss. I was the same weight for almost two months! I think the walking and writing down my food has made a difference. I think I may have lost a few pounds. We shall see;>

I can certainly relate to all of you. I was banded on 1/25/07 and I have lost 38 lbs. I have 30 to go. I think you are right, I'm walking everyday and trying to stay away from carbs. We just have to hang in there! Edie

Hi Everyone, I have been away from this site for a few months and I am soooo glad I'm back. I haven't lost any weight for the last two months and my DH said "it's time for you to get back online and get some support". I am maintaining but I keep having little slips here and there which keep me from losing. I see my doctor in August and I know he will give me hell if I haven't lost any weight. Help, help! Someone mentioned a challenge they are doing? What is it? I need someone to challenge me! I've lost 40 pounds and I have 40 to go. My daughter's wedding is October 19th. and I would like to be a little closer to goal before then. Edie

I too have been lurking. In fact I got a message asking where have I been. I lost 30 pounds and then stopped. I go back to my doctor on May 11th so I thought I better get back on track. Starting this past Monday, I get back to high protein and weighing my food. I also got moving a little more (two nights of water aerobics and a few short walks ) and I got on the scale this morning and I lost two pounds. I just keep telling myself that the lapband is a tool and I have to use it. Good luck to all of us struggling. Edie

Hi Pam, Thanks for telling us about fitday.com. I was eating too much too. I went for my first fill this past Monday. It wasn't bad at all. But my doctor did talk to me about making sure that I only eat 1/2 cup of food at each meal. Also, eat protein and then veggies. And absolutely, no snacking in between. The head hunger is the problem. I'm full but I like the taste so it's hard to stop at a 1/2 cup. But I've been doing it this week and I've lost two more pounds since I saw the doctor. I guess he does know what he is talking about ;> I'm glad you are doing so well.

It sounds like we are all in the same boat. I had a big weight loss at first (20 lbs.) and now things are slowing down. I've lost a total of 22 lbs in 6 weeks. I was feeling bad about that until I started thinking about the last time I went to Weight Watchers, I lost 10 lbs in two months! So I decided I better stop complaining. I have my first fill on March 26th. so I'm glad to read the previous messages so that I know what to expect. Thanks everyone for the information.

Hi Joanne, I know how you feel. I have this weird thing where I feel restricted when I am eating but I get hungry about every 2 or 3 hours. I saw my doctor today but I won't have a fill until March 26th. I was very swollen after surgery and became very dehydrated so now they want to make sure I'm getting in all the liquids and Protein before I have a fill. So that will be 8 weeks out for me:cry I've lost about 19 1/2 lbs since surgery 4 weeks ago. I just hope I don't gain before my fill date! So much to learn.... Take care everyone. Edie

I'm very nervous about getting a fill. My stomach swelled after surgery that I couldn't even get drink water . I ended up in the hospital for three days so that they could keep me on an IV until the swelling went down. Now I'm worried that if I get a fill and I get too much restriction I could end up in the hospital again. I have a check up with my doctor on Monday but I'm not sure when my fill will be scheduled. I think I will talk to him about being conservative. Right now I still have some restriction but not as much as a week ago. I am starting to eat a little more and feel hungry sooner. I guess there's a lot to learn about this stuff.

2/20/07 -The surgery and three weeks of liquids are behind me. I'm eating mushies and some soft foods. Lunch today-Turkey left over from my WW turkey dinner last night. About two ozs. and I was full Dinner-WW sweet and sour chicken. I always eat the meat first and then if I'm not stuffed I will eat the veggies. My stomach is doing much better. I'm trying to get the water in, it's harder than I thought. I can only eat about 4 ozs. at a time. I've lost 19 lbs. I'll do my measurements and record them tomorrow.
