FLORIDAYS replied to TriciaLN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is what the dr is there for. Doubtful it is serious but he will identify it and treat if needed. Good luck -
Any Suggestions On Ways To Help Avoid Excess Skin??
FLORIDAYS replied to knknosmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I look great in clothes. When removed I have sagging butt, thighs, arms and thankfully Only about a 1" tummy overhang. I still have 11 lbs to goal so am not ready yet to consider surgery to tighten up but it's something I will consider. I walked but it didn't help my thighs. Maybe weightlifting during The major losing stage may have helped but I didn't do it. The biggest thing that bothers me is my arms but I am not sure I want a scar vs the skin. I don't think you know how you will fare until you get there... And skinny saggy skin seriously looks and feels better than fat bloated skin! at least that's how I am dealing with it. -
Pre-Op Diet And I'm So Hungry!

Flying After Surgery
FLORIDAYS replied to Bruce1965's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being banded and flying isn't a problems. Flying 9 days after major surgery may be. Technicaly you may be fine...but until you see how your body reacts its an unknown. It was 2 weeks before I felt like the old me... So I suppose I could have done it but glad I didn't have to. Furthermore... Are you going to be able to eat properly away from home. Your body is healing and I don't know how long your dr has you on liquids but I was on them for 3 weeks. That may be a challenge Good luck -
Can Anyone Tell Me About Your Full Liquid Stage?
FLORIDAYS replied to Amoore627's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3weeks for me.... Sugar free Popsicles got me through the worst of it. At 25 calories each I allowed myself 2 a day . V8 juice (reduced sodium) is very filling as is diet hot chocolate, chix broth and of course protein shakes. Just track your calories. I allowed 1000 per day. That's a lot of drinking! -

Imagine Carrying 10 Bowling Balls, All The Time.....
FLORIDAYS replied to BeeBlueHeron's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in a meeting recently... With 15 of my co workers I hadn't seen in some time. Of course they noticed my loss and they put it perspective when one of the guys said... Gee you have lost more than any one of us here weighs!!! Talk about a reality check! -
I order kids meals all the time but forgo the dessert and bread. Also do the math and check the calories. Some kids meals are very high in calories I seem to do better ordering appetizers or soup and salad. My rule of thumb is 4 oz of protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch at every meal

Great suggestions from the previous posters... But I think it sounds like you need a fill. In my case when I a in the green zone I don't want to cheat..and if I want a slice of birthday cake one or two bite satisfies me. I just cannot over eat. And my ap in my phone kept me accountable. I tracked every morsel that went in my mouth. It was a game to me looking up and figuring ut how many calories were in 2 m&ms.. Or how many calories was in the tartar sauce for my fish. When i was 30 lbs from goal and my dr asked me to start weaning off the app and eyeball my food choices. I was scared to death but I understood his reasoning and did it. That was 3 months ago and I am now 13 lbs from goal! You can do this!!!

Whenever I travel I have to be super careful and I think it's because of the different foods I am eating. Restaurants usually offer richer foods than I am used to... Also depending on the location... cooking techniques are varied and unusual to your system. You may be trying foods you have tried before and your body just isn't used to them. Congrats on your nuptials!

I have no regrets. Not one! To answer your questions...you cannot feel the band. It is around your stomach. You can feel the port but it's just like a knot under the skin. It won't bother you at all. I am very active with my friends kids and my year old granddaughter. No restrictions....in fact the weight loss has improved my activity level. Exercise isn't a problem...nor is sex. In fact both efforts are improved. I tell everyone about the band who asks, I am proud to tell people I have finally found the answer to losing and keeping the wait off!! Best of luck to you

For Those Who Self Paid For Surgery
FLORIDAYS replied to waiting&waiting's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was a self pay and my dr did require a psych eval which my insurance paid for... Which I thought was funny. I had my surgery 2.5 mtns after the first visit but that was my choice... Due to work constraints. I could have had it 3 weeks earlier -
Realistic Weight Goal (?)
FLORIDAYS replied to LadyMaggie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I averaged 10 lbs per month. Now that I am close to goal (13 lbs to go) it's about 5 per month...everyone is different. My dr told me it would take 2.5 yrs. it's been 21 months -
Eating With Large Groups At Big Meals After Lap Band
FLORIDAYS replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe it or not it won't bother you as much as you think it will. I eat out with friend a lot and usually order soup or an appetizer. No one says a word. They are too busy noticing how amazing I look in my size 10s! -
Do You Ever Feel Like You Haven't Lost Enough?
FLORIDAYS replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any loss is good... Some months you will lose more than Others....but as long as you are losing its a good thing. Also depending on how much you want to lose it is really overwhelming to get your head around it. I had over 200 l s to lose so my dr suggested I take it ten pounds at a time.... I did ok with that but I am not a very patient person so often I found myself worrying about how much more I had to lose. Now 21 months out I technically have 13 lbs to my goal. But as I get there I am thinking about losing 10 lbs more than I originally planned ... Go figure! -
Something To Think About.

Snacks On Pre-Op Diet?
FLORIDAYS replied to fostermomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pro op was a 2 week liquid diet so snacking was not exactly very exciting,.... But I had sugar free Popsicles which saved me from going out of my mind. I think it was the hardest thing I ever had done..... But it prepared me for the three week post op liquid so it was pretty manageable Good luck! -

FLORIDAYS replied to tlm1120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

What Is Your One Main Motivation?
FLORIDAYS replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My health was the biggest motivator. I didnt want to die of a heart attack of carrying an extra 200 lbs around. I didnt want to get high blood pressure, diabities and all the other problems which were borderline....I watched my mother die from problems compounded by obesity in 2009 and in 2010 the light went off and I made the decision to make some changes in my life. It was the best decision I have ever made. -
My Dr forbids it. That said... I asked why... since Diet Coke and I had a very special relationship. He told me that its the carbonation. When you drink it your stomach expands because it passes thru the pouch. When it moves on... the stomach contracts. If you do this numerous times a day...your band is at a bigger risk to move and break away from the stitches causing possible slipage. That said... In the 21 months since being banded I confess I have craved a DC a few times... so I opened one up...let it sit for 20 minutes then sipped very slowly. And to be honest... I didnt much care for it so really can take it or leave it now.

I Call My Band "big Ang"".....what Nickname Do U Call Ur Band
FLORIDAYS replied to f1stborn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I call my band my "permanent reminder of a temporary feeling". I can't take credit for the words I give that to Jimmy Buffett. is the name of one of his songs from years ago... but it fits perfectly. if you listen to the song it is a good fit for so many things but for me is the perfect name.
