Calorie Intake Pre-Op Diet??
FLORIDAYS replied to Kaytlyn Allen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its a bit low. My 5 required shakes added up to 800 so I got my other 200 from v8, broth and sugar free Popsicles -
I woke up in the recovery room and I asked the time ...it was 230p... 2 hrs after i went into the operating room. The i asked for something to drink. I was told the time and given a large q tip looking thing to suck on....ick. Lol Then I started sneezing. And I didn't stop for hours. I was miserable!! They finally called my dr and he ordered some benadryl. That knocked me out and I drank the required 8oz of Water, used the bathroom and at 730p they sent me on my way. I slept all the way home. When I went to the dr for my post op follow up the dr said he had over 600 surgeries and no one woke up sneezing. LOL.

I am a scale addict as well. Every morning and every night. When I travel it drives me crazy not to be able to weigh in. I think it actually helps me lose!! Many say once a week is fine... And it is but not weighing myself for many years allowed me to Balloon to 377 lbs. since I never plan on seeing that number again I will continue my love affair with my scale.

Not eating at home is one of the biggest challenges for a bandster. Try to remember the band is a tool... And if you don't use it properly it will not work. Eating out and or at friends homes can work if you maintain portion control. If you are worried about it just quietly tell your friend you are dieting or watching your calorie intake and portions so while you know her cooking is delicious you may not eat as much as she is planning for. Problem solved. Congratulations on managing to lose weight on vacation...not matter how much. That's wonderful.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
FLORIDAYS replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is normal to reach plateaus. Looking at my weight log.... I hit 1 plateau for 3 weeks at about the 90 lbs mark. I have averaged 10 lbs per month so it averages out. The last 30 goes much slower I am finding. I am 10 lbs from my goal and 20 from my drs goal.... And now averaging 5 lbs a month. Everyone is different .....don't try to compete with others -

FLORIDAYS replied to lindseya7x's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I'm Making Lists. . .
FLORIDAYS replied to suzeeq67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My issue with pop corn is that about an hour after I eat it some of the skins come back up...It's weird. I don't throw up or anything...it's just sorta letting me know I am not digesting it well. So I don't eat it often and deal with it when I do. -
I'm Making Lists. . .
FLORIDAYS replied to suzeeq67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everybody's list will certainly vary... my top five are 1)no carbonation... that means no more beloved Diet Coke 2) follow drs orders to a tee 3) weigh myself daily... Not doing so got me to 377 lbs 4)record every thing I eat in some kind of log to track calories. I used calorie counter on my droid phone 5) drink water water water 64 ounces every single day do not go to bed without doing so -

Then ask when open enrollment is. Most insurance plans dictate a specific time during the year for current employees to enroll. Good luck to you!

How exciting for you. I remember when even my nighttime weight was under 200.... It was the best feeling!! Enjoy it

From the first day of solids and every day since then.... 1000 to1200 calories every day . Break it down anyway you like it... For me a typical work day looks like this Bfast- sugar free instant breakfast w skim milk 10a snack of under 100 calories lunch 4 oz Protein , 1/2 c veggies, 1/4 c starch dinner same as lunch portions evening snack of something light like sugar free Popsicle. Drink at least 64 oz of Water each day and avoid any and all fried food. That's all I have done for the last 21 months Good luck

When Do The Dr Visits/fills Stop??
FLORIDAYS replied to sHeLLaBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going monthly until march which was the 15 mth mark. I would get weighed a dr would chat with me about my progress, we would discuss a fill or no fill... . I never had a gain so I don't know how that would have gone... I never had more lab work although my BP was checked every month then in march we went to every 2 months until last month and now it's every 3 or if I need him sooner I am welcome to come in. I am self pay and my visits are $25 without and $50 with a fill. Once I hit my goal in 11 lbs I am not sure what will happen. Guess I will find out soon!!!! -
Nope...and I didn't take off my wedding ring either
-
It is probably a little of both. Has hubby recently started the job? If so there should be a protocol to when insurance kicks in? Have him ask his supervisor for a copy of the employee handbook. Most companies have specific guidelines on insurance enrollment

Just don't swallow it
-
Not in my experience.... If it hurts when you drink anything it's too tight.
-
Why not? No need to add sugar to your diet.... It's unnecessary.

Lean usually means no fat with regard to meat.... I have never heard of lean tuna. But I eat the pa ked in water version 3x a week

Did You Have A Catheter During Your Surguery ?
FLORIDAYS replied to yourshoesareuntied's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have no idea I was asleep. I didn't have one inserted that I know of and if I did it was removed before I woke up. I just had to go to the bathroom before I was allowed to leave. -
Call the closest hospital known for bariatric surgery... They should be able to point you in the right direction Good luck

You most likely will Lose from the top down....just like how gravity works. First people noticed in my face... Then the mid section and finally below the waist. As for the "girls"... They went from 44c to 34 very padded B only because they hang so low I cannot cram them into an A... But they measure an A! That is the one surgery I am considering actually because it bothers me so much!

Lapband Changing My Life
FLORIDAYS replied to darbydoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Addressing the support issue... This is your journey...you will make the decisions as to what to put in your mouth. Not a support team. You need a dr you can trust... One who has a staff who will be helpful.... You only need someone to drive you home from surgery and to the first week follow up. You should have someone with you in the first few days but my husband had to work so was only home at night... But that's all I needed . If you want to be married then your place is with your husband so why not start your journey where he is? You cAn find a dr there and join his support group in Which you will meet new friends and form a support group on you own. If you don't want to be married then deal with that as a separate issue... Try not to confuse the two. All the best.
