I weigh myself twice a day...every day. I know it's obsessive and sometimes depressing not to see the scale move for a few days but since I spent the better part of my life ignoring the scale... I figure it cannot hurt. But I do keep in mind the scale is fickle and any number of things will effect the reading. So I bless the days I have a loss and understand that when I don't it's not a bad thing if I am doing what I am supposed to be doing.

I am not diabetic but I was always hot. Now it's comical. I take a light jacket everywhere because I am always freezing, I even had blood work to make sure nothing was wrong. Lol Who knew thin people are cold all the time ? Enjoy it!

Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?
FLORIDAYS replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I could lose it without surgery. I have done it before...but have always gained every bit back plus,. And thats if i didnt get bored withthe diet and quit. Since i had 217 to lose i chose the band because it gives me a governing tool so I will not put it back on. And for that it was worth all the pain and suffering. People speak when the are uneducated so I have learned to ignore the neighsayers and live my own life. -
Drink From A Straw ???
FLORIDAYS replied to chenie69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No straw for first several months... Once healed my dr allowed it. His theory is that air gets in a straw and gets into the stomach when you are drinking. And when you are healing he doesn't want that complication. -

Venting About Spoiled Nsv
FLORIDAYS replied to lrhodes46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We cannot pick our relatives. It's too bad your mother feels,it necessary to belittle you. But aren't you lucky to have a loving hubby and daughter to fill the void. Just ignore mom and be the better person. What goes around comes around... -
I chose the band because as others have posted it required no alteration of my biological systems. And heaven forbid it it could be removed should that ever become a necessity. That said it is a very personal choice. Make sure you do your research and have frank discussions with your surgeon. I spoke with 3 drs before I made my selection.

Length Of Hospital Stay?
FLORIDAYS replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery was at 1230 p. I was home in my own bed by 730pm the same day. I didn't feel the need or have any medical reason to stay in the hospital -
Did You Name Your Lap Band?
FLORIDAYS replied to Domika03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't name it per se but I call it my permenant reminder of a temporary feeling..... -
The best revenge will be at the fair next year.... In the meantime as you plan to I would take him aside and explain how you can understand how he may have questions about your weight loss surgery and how you would be happy to explain it to him...however it's really non of his business and certainly not his place to discuss it with others. Remind him ever so sweetly that if he doesn't have anything nice to say to keep his mouth shut! Just curious... Is he overweight?

Are Sugar Free Carbonated Drinks Okay?
FLORIDAYS replied to FernandinaGin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr would not band me without the promise of never ever having a carbonated beverage again! He did day I could let one get flat then drink it. So I tried it once.... Yuk! Somehow diet coke didn't go out of business as I though they might since I drank a ton of it. Now days Water, Flavored no calorie waters and iced tea no sugar of course are my new best friends!! -
I was on liquid for 2 weeks preop and had a headache from hell the first 4 days. Dr said it was caffeine and sugar withdrawals which is kind of an eye opener to think your body is addicted to caffeine and sugar ...but it was. By the 5th day it subsided. I hope yours does too.

Sizes for women are ridiculous . I am now wearing 10s in most pants... But just yesterday I tried on 3 pair of 10s which didn't even come over my hips. The I went else wear and bought all 4 sized 10s I tried on.... Go figure. Tops are the same way. I am tall and I picked up a small top on the clearance rack which fit perfectly. I got it home and noticed the tag said petite which is for someone under 5'4. I am 5'9. How does that make sense? It fits like a glove. LOL Do not measure your success with a size. Let the scale speak volumes!

Senior Bandsters: Anything You Would Have Done Differently Prior To Your Surgery Date ?
FLORIDAYS replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr prepared me for surgery by making me do a 2 week liquid diet. I hated it at the time but he was very wise because it taught me the following: I can live without eating food as long as I have nutrition I can live on 800 calories each day Food is fuel... You only need it to survive. The act of eating is a habit which can be broken That said the liquid diet also shrunk my liver so I was able to have a successful surgery. Additionally it prepared me for the 2 weeks of liquid post surgery while I healed and made me appreciate mushies like you cannot imagine!! And the added bonus... I lost 22 lbs pre op which was a nice kick start to my journey. Best of luck -
Time to see you dr and discuss with him/her your options. Maybe you need a a little Fluid removed. Maybe there is a more serious problem. Do not wait...call and get some relief!! Although I will add... My band hate grease. I used to be able to eat a 1/4 pounder w cheese, fries, a cheeseburger and large soda. Yikes...I don't think I have ever written that before.... Anyway hubby was craving McDonalds and I hadbone bite of his cheeseburger and wanted to throw up. The grease just sat in my stomach and I didn't want to eat the rest of the day. Not that is your problem but just trying to eliminate any potential problems....

I advise calling your dr and making an appointment, maybe you need a fill... Or maybe you need to reduce your calories. But that's where you started so go back to what you know. Good luck

Recommendations?
FLORIDAYS replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used maalox for gas... And I walked. Back and forth from the bed to the door... Maybe 10 times an hour!! I was given liquid pain killer but I never took it. It wasn't that bad. I wish you all the best. -
People Really Have No Idea About Wls Do They?
FLORIDAYS replied to elcee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
People love to think they know everything. I have a co worker in California who sees me once a year... He had no idea I had the band. Yet he said... So how did you lose weight. Did you get that surgery or something? I replied I did get a lap band and before I could add that the band is a tool and you still have to change your eating habits...he said... Oh well no wonder you lost so much weight. I just walked away. You just cannot fix ignorance . -
It's healing time which is frustrating,.... Try calorie counting to make sure you don't over eat during this time. I used 1000 calories as my target. ask you dr or pick a number you are comfortable with. A few more weeks you should see a nice loss

Completely Frustratred
FLORIDAYS replied to PJCaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try eating 1000 calories a day... It worked like a charm for me. I didn't have more than a few plateaus during the last 22 months and never had a gain. Good luck! -
So Is Everyone Happy With Progress?
FLORIDAYS replied to Joy1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 22 months post op. like others have said... I love my band but the band only does 70% of the work. You must put in the effort to maximize results. I am 10 lbs or so from my goal... Not once was I bored with the diet because it's about portions and nutrition ...I did however count calories and limited them to 1000 per day...but I am rarely hungry. It's a big decision. Only do it if you are committed and ready for a lifestyle change. Good luck -
1St Fill Turned Into No Fill.
FLORIDAYS replied to lexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have I only had fills by the surgeon... I am sorry you had a less than wonderful experience. I too went for my first fill and left without one... Because I had lost weight and he thought I was doing great... Ugh..its because i was eating 1000 a day" It was a lousy feeling to wait another month but I guess it all worked out. Good luck Monday! -
You will find everyone is different. You might be fine with rice. I am not..even a teaspoon of rice ... white or brown usually comes back up. But that's just me.
