Congratulations! You are doing great!

Every dr uses the diet they feel is best for their patient. If you are comfortable with your surgeon then trust him or her and be very happy you don't have to drink liquid fr 2 weeks Good luck
-
Then I would most certainly call the dr. It maybe be a muscle but he would know for sure

Are you sure it's not the port you feel? My dr says its almost impossible to feel the actual band. But it may be the port. It is stitched into the walls of the abdomen but you can feel it to the touch

What Is The Point
FLORIDAYS replied to PICTURE PERFECT28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As the others said it is a healthy way of preparing your body for surgery, give you a head start on losing weight and it will teach you that food is fuel... You don't need to eat. You just need to get nutrition. If you cannot stick to the pre op diet I would wait until your head is in the game... Or you will not be successful. Best of luck! -
Comfortable Weight (When And How)
FLORIDAYS replied to goldenlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I asked my Dr that same question. He said if I was losing too much weight after I hit my goal he'd adjust me so I couldnt do that. He said in over 600 surgeries it has only happened once. And thats because the gal had an eating disorder. -
At Or Near Goal Question
FLORIDAYS replied to his_spirit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in for a fill on Friday.... My BMI is 25 and the Dr said I could be done. I said...WHAT? You told me 150 was my # ... I was hoping for 160 and I am 168 now. He said... I am not saying not to lose any more. You will do that if you just concentrate on keeping it off... and if you lose 1-2 lbs a month so be it. I am so committed I went into a panic. I cannot relax until I meet my personal goal. But it made me I am in a 6/8 top and 10 bottom. I look amazing compared to 23 months ago. But I really want to hit this number for myself... He was just warning me not be obsessed and unrealistic. I am 52 years old. I have saggy skin and a few pockets of fat or skin or whatever it is several places on my body. I am not going to look like I am 20. I have to remember that. And since I was fat at 20... its a good thing. -
I cooked for my family the entire time. During the pre op liquid, during post op liquids and mushies and for the last 22 months as I lost pound after pound. In fact it was therapy for me... I would cook stuff I wanted to eat....but didnt! LOL After all the liquids You will be able to eat what they eat just a lot less of it. The band may be a good option for you. I would consult a surgeon and start gathering facts... Just remember... the band will do the majority of the work but you have to put in a lot of effort as well. Its not a magic potion! Good luck!

I was on liquid for 2 weeks... 5 Optifast shakes a day. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. And also one of the most rewarding. I lost 22 lbs and was completely prepared for surgery and the 3 weeks of liquids and mushies following being banded. It seems there are several schools of thoughts on the pre op diets but I chose my Dr and decided to play by his rules. I didnt cheat. I have followed his orders to a T and have lost 209 lbs.

Am I On The High End Of Weight For This To Work?
FLORIDAYS replied to choochford's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only 5'9" but topped the scales @ 377 with a BMI of 55. I have been very successful but its wasnt without a lot of learning, dedication to myself and willpower. The band will do 70% of the work for you. You need to do the rest. And until you are in the green zone you need to be extra careful to eat the recommended amount of calories you need to lose or it won't happen since the band isnt performing at the optimum level yet. Best of luck to you! -
I was on optifast for 2 wks pre op. I lost 22 lbs. In addition to 5 shakes each day i was allowed 2 sugar free Popsicles , low sodium v8 juice -8 oz and broth if I really thought I needed it. I didnt. I allow could drink caffeine free tea or coffee with no sugar.

What's One Thing Do You Plan On Doing To Help Yourself?
FLORIDAYS replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been trying to increase my step count to 10000 each day. So yesterday i decided to stop worrying about finding the closest parking spot. While running errands it occurred to me that I waste time looking for the one coveted spot closest to the store.... So I started parking further away. Now I will save gas and increase my step count for the day. -
My surgery was out patient..so I was only in the hospital 7 hrs. I took my ID... They provided socks and anything else I needed...which wasn't much.

Hungry And Newly Banded
FLORIDAYS replied to ameliamaebe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the soup slides straight down to the stomach so it would be lie you got full normally. It doesn't sit in your new baby stomach. The beginning stage after surgery tests your will power... Just knowing this will help you get through it. -
Any One Fall Off The Wagon On Pre Op Diet
FLORIDAYS replied to Joy1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Besides the commitment I had with myself that was the #2 reason I didn't cheat.... I was scared to death to have a complicated surgery!! -
I cannot add much more as so many folks in here said it well... But just think about this... When you are thin and healthy... Think about how good it will feel to run into your ex..... He will be so sorry he left you. and you will feel so good about yourself you will wonder why it didn't happen sooner. All the best to you!

Confused And Fustrated
FLORIDAYS replied to nikkinikole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you haven't lost weight it's because you are eating too many calories. It's really that simple. I would start by writing down everything you eat in a day. And I mean everything except toothpaste. Add those calories up. If its more than 1200 the odds of you losing weight are slim. There are lots of phone aps which make it easy to track your calories throughout the day. Try it for a month... I bet you will see results. -
Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean every one will or has. I understand your frustration but I wonder what you have done to be successfull since you dont have the support of a local dr to help you. I saw my dr monthly for the first 18 months. I never got over filled and lost weight as I expected. But I also worked hard to cou t calories, measure food a d communicate with my dr so nothing bad happened. I was self pay and seriously considered going to Mexico for my wls...but I was concerned about the after care amoung other things. Your horrible story makes me so thankful I chose a local dr. Is it possible for you to find a dr who can work with you now to get you filled properly and start getting. BAck on track?

You just do it...It was a hard lesson to learn. I am like Marci... If I drink with food it will come back up. But look at how much money you save on drinks. Lol

Getting A Fill And Losing Weight Question........
FLORIDAYS replied to fitfrlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mis73 said it perfectly. Fills don't make you lose weight. I cannot recall getting a fill that I didn't have to argue or plead my case with my dr for... He is fill stingy because he wanted me to learn when I really needed one or not. And he was right. Often I went in thinking I needed a fill and he talked me out of it and the next month I still lost well. Good luck -
1000 worked for me i think because I wasn't very active for a long time into my journey... I averaged 10 lbs a month. I weighed, measured and tracked everything I ate for the first 22 months. Now I am working on the last 10-20 lbs by just eyeballing it and making good choices because I don't want to live the rest of my life as disciplined as I have been. I know what my limits are and listen to my band tell me when to stop. And it does.

How Often To Lap Banders Pee I'm Worried...
FLORIDAYS replied to goingfoit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my experience....Going to the bathroom before wls is no different than after wls except that now I go more because I drink more Water. And it might be TMI but my bowl movement are much more pleasent because they aren't promoted by fatty foods. I have a hard time with the water... So I fill up a pitcher of water with 32oz every morning and don't go to bed until I finish it. I take bottles to work with the other 32 oz in it... And make sure they are done before I get home. Yes that would be me you see downing 2 or 3 bottles on the way home because I have to finish them....lol -
Any One Fall Off The Wagon On Pre Op Diet
FLORIDAYS replied to Joy1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please be very sure you can commit to the rules that will follow your surgery... Or you won't be successful. I know this sounds like tough love but wls isn't something to be taken lightly. You will have a life time of rainy days and celebrations but you can get through them if you want to. The band will only do 70% of the work. You have to do the rest. My commitment started the day I started my liquid pre op diet. It was the day before thanksgiving no less.... The timing stunk...but i had 49 thanksgivings, christmas parties and holiday gorging so i decided it didnt matter. I was still able to partake in all the fun but i just didnt eat. That doesn't make me any better than someone who wasn't able to stick to it... But I say this because your head has to be in the game. If it really is... And you are doing this for you then move forward and forget about yesterday. If it isn't there is no shame in postponing the surgery until you are ready. Best of luck.
