I picked the band because I liked the idea of it being a tool for accountability when I reach my goal and it did not alter my body's systems like bypass does. The band will help you lose obviously but I am more interested in keeping the weight off... which the band will allow me to do.

I take a multi vitamin... gummy style.... I also take the biotein just in case. In the winter I take chewable vitamin C.

Sick And Tired Of People Being Rude/discouraging
FLORIDAYS replied to Lapbandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That sounds like the smart thing to do. It is unfortunate we all have friends and family who are unsupportive. I try to remember that they are the way they are because of them....not because of anything I did. We cannot pick our relatives but we can control the way they interact in our lives. You mother is insecure, jealous or resentful of you for some reason. That would motivate me more actually... But in the meantime I would politely say... Mom... I got this. I think its best if we do not discuss my journey. You will just have to see the results. Good Luck -

Dr. Kuri Put A 4Cc Band In Me - Is That Good
FLORIDAYS replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never known of a person getting a fill at the time of surgery so I cannot comment... But glad to hear the surgery went well. My first fill to my empty band was at two mths post op.... I got 3 ccs ... I am now at 5.5 ccs *******Editing because I realize I read your post wrong... Sorry... I don't know anything about that band but I am sure your dr knows what he is doing -
Well so far I haven't quit but I am not ready yet. I plan on being to goal soon so then will tackle the smoking, but I must caution you... Get the band because you want to lose weight...not because you think if you lose weight you will quit smoking. Best of luck!

The weekend before I started my pre op diet hubby and I went on a road trip to celebrate my upcoming surgery and to indulge in foods I knew I wouldnt be having for a long time. For 4 days we eat, drank and had a ball... But when we pulled into the driveway at home on that Sunday night I knew it was over. It was like the farewell tour to chicken wings, diet coke, french fries, pizza, gyros and candy...but you know what.. I was ready. And I haven't looked back since.

No Weightloss @1Yr Banded
FLORIDAYS replied to LauraTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think a good nutritionist would advise you to count calories and track your food. Because with all that exercise I am really surprised you aren't losing at a rapid pace. If your NUT or dr isn't being helpful see if you can find someone who is. If that isnt an option try to only eat 1200 calories in a day, stay away from fried foods and junk food and eat no more that 3/4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c startch at each meal. I bet the weight will come off. Good luck -
I have actually mixed crystal light in a water bottle and given it to the bartender to use to mix my drink. Or less obvious keep it in your purse and order vodka on the rocks and a tall glass of ice on the side. The vodka will come in a short glass so you can transfer into the tall one and add the crystal light from your purse. If its a dive bar they won't care
-
Crystal light comes in individual packets so you can mix it easily enough. Something else I tried once was vodka and Water with a splash of orange and cranberry juice. The splash isnt enough to count and just track the vodka calories for your daily allowances, Have fun

Yes I have sneezed up food... It's gross but it wont hurt anything unless it is an ongoing thing. Hope you feel better
-
The port is sewn into the wall of the abdominal wall do you may have just pulled a muscle. If you have severe pain in the next day or so I would call the dr.

The microwave isn't a bandster's friend.... Everything I try to heat up in the microwave dries out and I cannot eat it. Well except soup........Hope you are feeling better.

Going Back To Protien Shakes
FLORIDAYS replied to vlp1968's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have done it for a day here and there to get off a plateau. You may want to consult your Dr as to how to get back on track before you do it for longer than that. -
I have learned on this forum many different doctors have more opinions that I can keep track of. So it is best to read and learn and maybe ask your dr about something you read on here but ultimatly follow your Dr's advice. As for the fill order.... my Dr is of the same thought. Liquids for 1 day and mushies for day 2.

Balanced Eating: Protein? Veges? Carbs?
FLORIDAYS replied to DanaAdams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didnt fool with all that. My dr likes to keep it simple..... so he had me on 1000 calories a day with portions sizes of 3-4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggie and 1/4 startch. Snack was a piece of fruit. I always say different things work for different people. I found counting calories and eating a good balance of protien, veggies and startch all with limiting fats worked well for me. -
How long have you had your lap band?
FLORIDAYS replied to dejageel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had my band for 22 months. I have lost 210 lbs with no complications. I am 7 or 17 lbs from goal depending on which day you ask me. -
Since I am not a coffee drinker I didnt know what a Pumpkin Spices was.... then I read your post and about fell over. 380 calories in one drink? OMG its a good think I dont like coffee.
-
You will surely get strong opinions... this is a lap band forum. I would caution you to seek professional advice and determine with your Dr which one is best for you. That said... I love the band and its has worked very well for me and my situation. Best of luck
