Yesterday I was at my fav new addiction...my local consignment shop and found a pair of lucky brand jeans for $4.67. My daughter said they were an expensive brand..... Who knew? I did not have time to try them on but figured they wouldn't fit since they were a size 8 but i eyeballed it and figured at that price For $125 pair of jeans i could resell them on eBay or something....lol. As luck would have it.... They fit. I was so jazzed... It's a long way from the 4x bottoms I used to buy to cover my 77 " hips!! Congrats on your loss.

Feeling Carbonation-Deprived...i Hate Those Mix-Ins - Any Drink Ideas? Sick Of Water....
FLORIDAYS replied to indacrucible's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink mostly water but for a treat I like those Sparkling ICE flavored drinks... but since they are slightly carbonated I open one up in the morning and stick it in the fridge opened so all the fizz goes out by evening. I love the Pink Grapefruit...no calories -
Hopefully you will make getting dentures, a partial or other dental treatment a top priority because oral health is very important and can be the root of other issues and infections. Until you are able to do that I would suggest sticking to soft foods. You can get Protein from eggs, cottage cheese, lean meat and expecially fish. I hope you are able to get the dental help necessary soon.

Care And Feeding Of Lap Band Opinions
FLORIDAYS replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You may be right Mis... there may be some similar people who have alot of free time on their hands. But dont worry... I learned a long time ago if someone isnt paying my bills they cannot force their opinions on me or make me change on their behalf. Thanks for your positive words... Our posts are always so similar on many points... And we both have been very successful.... hmmmm -
Care And Feeding Of Lap Band Opinions
FLORIDAYS replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with you... I enjoy reading various perspectives on many different topics. The lap band has worked wonders in my life and I want to help everyone have the same success I am having! I fear however that I am turning into that reformed person everyone hates. LOL You know like a reformed smoker....On Saturday I was at a picnic with a long time friend... it shouldnt matter but for conversation sake she and 2 of her 4 daughters are very heavy. She opened the cooler and there was white bread, processed american cheese, turkey, ham and mayo to make sandwhiches... a bag of cheese doodles, chips, fried onion something and a huge bag of candy from Halloween. I was biting my tongue to keep from saying... ummm didnt you bring anything nutritious? I rolled up a slice of turkey and ham for myself and my toddler granddaughter.... and paired it with the cups of fruit I always keep in the diaper bag thankfully and she and I had a healthy lunch. (we eat about the same amount...LOL) So lunch was progressing and my friend said ... give the baby some cheese doodles. I was like... no thats ok we have some cheerios if she is still hungry. My friend said... you are turning into a health freak. This from the same person who has barely mentioned my loss. I just smiled and made light of it... everyone laughed and we moved on... but it was a classic case of have the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference... -
Care And Feeding Of Lap Band Opinions
FLORIDAYS replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for the nice thoughts. I had to giggle.... early on when I was seeing my Dr monthly I would ask him about this or that... or challenge his opinions with a question I read on this forum... he would say.. Are you reading that internet site again?..... I would laugh and say yes. And he said that most of the information you will read is positive and helpful but know you will see lots of failures because people who failed have nothing better to do with their time then post about how miserable they are. I thought that was excellent advice. -
wonderful job! Congratulations! Enjoy your omlette

I love the gummy's in fact I take them so much more religiously than I ever took any of those horse pill vitamins. Isnt it funny how we are all so different? That said... ask your Dr if you can cut up your regular vitamins with a pill cutter. That may work for you. Mine said as long as it was not larger than an asprin I was ok. You may have to cut them in several pieces but it could work. Good Luck

Care And Feeding Of Lap Band Opinions
FLORIDAYS replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well you are too kind. Thank you for those nice words. I really didnt feel as tho I neded to defend myself I just wanted to throw it out there that if people post a question...expect an answer. And that people are different so the responses may not be what you are accustomed to hearing. For those of us who have been successful I think we have a responsibility to help others who may be struggling or have simple questions which they may feel need a more immediate answer than they can get from the dr...not that mine or anyone else's advice should take the place of a dr...but this is a great place to get those questions answered. -
Care And Feeding Of Lap Band Opinions
FLORIDAYS replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wanted to reply.... you darn right I am all that... I have worked long and hard for the right to say it. And if you want to make excuses and spend the next few years wondering why the band isnt working for you.... go right ahead. I am going to take my "all that" self and get on with my life. LOL Even I get my feathers ruffled. But of course that wouldnt have been appropriate and I should be burned on the stake for thinink such cruel things so I heeded my late mother's advice...if you dont have something nice to say...dont say it. So I kindly asked if he/she had a particular question I could help with. I never received a reply. -

I agree with you... I have always felt life it too short to be rude. Good manners is a dying art and I for one would like to send the world a lifeboat. I think there is always a way to structure your responses to be positive, uplifting and informative even by being direct. -

my Dr said I could take anything up to the size of a regular asprin. You may want to ask yours what his rule of thumb is.

FLORIDAYS replied to channing28105's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
you may want to stop by your local thrift store.... You would be amazed how cheap clothes are and plus sizes seem to be aplenty.... I donated 21 bags to them this year. I am sure others have as well. Congrats on your weight loss. -
Mine did not but I would call your Dr this morning. He is the only one who can tell you for sure.

Thinking About The Lapband..
FLORIDAYS replied to fashionstylist's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome.....the band is a big step.....glad to see you are being thoughtful and doing your research . How much weight do you need to lose? -
Do not be surprised if you don't feel like eating or drinking much the first few days." it's normal. I had surgery at noon... Left the hospital at 7p but not until I drank 8 oz or water which was pretty darn hard. I went straight to bed and slept until morning. The next day I barely had more than a few spoonfuls of soup and maybe 8 oz of water... My dr said concentrate on the water and to just drink as much as I could. By day 2 I was up to 30 oz of water...soup and some apple juice. It wasn't until day 4 that I was able to drink 8 glasses of water.

Down 26 Pounds In 3 1/2 Weeks
FLORIDAYS replied to Joy1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get easier but every once in a while I find myself wishing I could eat a chicken wing dripping in bleu cheese dressing....like the gal sitting across from me at the restaurant I went to tonight. Then she got up to use the restroom and I got a reality check. Those 12 wings she ingested attached themselves right to her bottom. I just smiled to myself and my husband reminded me it wasn't the place for my lap band lecture. Lol ( I am kidding about that last part... I would never approach a stranger about dieting.....) I am not kidding about really wanting that wing. -
Sorry To Have To Ask This Nut Just Curious If This May Have Happened To You
FLORIDAYS replied to Wgbem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 50 when I was banded. I was normally cycling. I had my surgery ...Then nothing.... I waited a few months..even took a pregnancy test because I obviously am in denial or my age...lol but finally I went to the obgyn and she said the surgery may have pushed up my menopause a bit. Then 16 months later I got a period for 2 days... Then nothing again so I went back to my obgyn and she did all kinds of tests and I was in fact post menopausal.... However she thinks the blending was a result of some fibroids shrinking and breaking down as they do after menopause. If I were you just keep track and maybe see your dr again for a check up. -
Congratulations on making the decision to be healthy. Whether you decide on the band or some other assistance.... I applaud you for making the choice! Best of luck.

I started at 377 pounds. I dont have any knee issues but it was a chore to walk more than 5 minutes without sweating and being out of breath, so I started walking to the mailbox and many times as I could... In the evening. Then I decided I was street ready and I would walk in the evening. For safety I just walked a short distance as many times as i could. After i lost the first 100 i started walking after dinner and it was summer so still daylight out. I would set the alarm on my phone for 15 minutes and turn around when it went off so I was getting in 30 minutes. Today I could walk all day if I had too.... You will get there. Best of luck!

Craving French Fries! Help
FLORIDAYS replied to MaryR.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ask yourself the following question. Is 5 minutes of eating French fries worth compromising my band and my health? If the answer is yes..... which I bet it wont ...then go ahead and eat them. But the fact that you posted the question tells me you are thinking about your choices which is a great thing. I had post it notes on my computer, my dash, my mirrors...for the first few months u til I got restriction.... Whenever I got the urge I would look at them and think... I really don't want it... I want it because I cannot have it. And as a side note I was about a year out and hubby and I were on a road trip and he drove thru McDonalds... I got a grilled chicken salad and thought... I just want one french fry. So I ate it... It was the first grease I'd eaten in a year. 5 minutes later he was pulling over so I could get rid of it. My band rejected it BIG time. -
I too am almost 2 yrs post op... I am 23 BMI and 162 lbs in the mornings. I have lost 215 lbs and gon from 2 x tops to small or 4/6 and 4x bottoms to 8/10 I had 150 in my lofty dream category and I may get there but I am happy with my body now so if I don't I am ok with it. My friends and family tell me I am done... Since I am tall I suppose the 162 looks thinner than it really is... but I am on a mission to maintain and I know that will be a lifelong battle. I am Hopi g the ba d will do its job and it will be easier than I expect. But I have some rippling on my thighs and arms, the girls resemble a tube sock with a golf ball inside and my tummy while thankfully isn't horrible could use a little tug...so my belly button will stop sagging. My legs and ankles are still thick but that's hereditary although getting the skin remove might help. THat said...I am very proud of my accomplishment as I am sure you are as well. It's been fun shopping for the new wardrobe...maybe a little too much...lol Congrats on your success from someone who knows how good you feel!
