The first step is to find a dr that the insurance will cover. Start with the insurance company... Do they offer referrals? Do you need a referral from a primary doc? Good question. I had a lot to lose and I recall my clothes were all elastic waists so I didn't get a hint from them.... It was about 40 lbs down when someone I hadnt seen in months asked me if I was losing weight... I think that was the first NSV. The second one was down 90 lbs and I flew for the first time being banded.... And I didn't need a seat belt extender. That was a great day.

I think I answered this the other day your other thread..... . I personally think its too drastic at your height and weight. If you are willing to commit to the band you should be willing to try to do it on your own and work to keep it off. Just my opinion ...and what I would tell my daughters or friends. I love my band and am thankful it helped me achieve the results I have... But in no way was it easy or should be taken lightly. It's a last resort in my opinion.
