    French Fries?!

    Depending on what stage you are or how fast you want to lose I would agree with you for the most part. For me I needed to get the weight off before I started enjoying anything in moderation... But now I do to a point and I am maintaining nicely. There are some foods I dont enjoy eating anymore because my band has a mind of its own ...like fried foods and rice.

    For the duration of my losing stage I ate 3-4 oz Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c veggies at each meal. However I can promise you I did not always finish it

    Weight Loss On Pre-Op Diet

    I can't tell you how much people typically lose....I can just tell you that I lost 22 lbs and I started at 377 and my BMI was 55 Hope that helps...
  4. I focused on weight loss from the first day of my pre op diet.... But the first 2 weeks on liquid post op you don't have to worry about it much as long as you aren't drinking milkshakes and liquor.... Once I started on mushies it was game on.

    I have tried to steal fries every so often... Just 2 or 3 but evidentially I am one of the lucky ones the has a finicky band... No sooner then I swallow them... They come right back up. My band is allergic to grease I think because it happens with anything greasy....
  6. I lost 215 lbs without formal exercise. I did however start to walk 1-2 miles a day starting after the first year. My skin doesnt sag as much as it could be considering I am over 50 and lost almost 70% of my body weight. However it is proven that exercise is healthy and I advise it. In fact there is a treadmill in my house right now waiting for me to learn how to use it. I just want to go on record that you can lose without it.
  7. I agree.. just because you get a band doesnt mean you will lose weight. This is a proven fact. I just ignore the uninformed people and move on... Its not my job to educate them. On the other hand... the band will help you if you work with it. I and many others are proof of that.

    To Buy Or Not To Buy New Clothes?

    I bought very basic pieces and wore them until they fell off. I wore the same 3 skirts and maybe 6-8 tops for work until they were too big... I hated the idea of spending money on things which would be too big in 2-3 months. Consignment stores are great ...you can buy more things then turn them in when they get too big!

    I can tell you what my Dr would say. No. But please ask yours to be safe... You could must likely do it via the phone.
  10. Sorry about the typo in the title.... This= THIN..... I remember early on as a bandster ....during one of my monthly Dr appointments I asked my Dr... will I have to watch my calories after I reach my goal or will the band just let me know? He said... a little of both but he said I need to think like a thin person. Those were foreign words to me having been overweight for most of my life ...except for that few minutes in the 90s... I really had to put my mind to it and repattern my thinking processes. Fat people think... I have already had 3 Cookies... whats a few more? Why do they make chairs so small? Super sizing is more economical so it makes sense... Buffetts have such a nice selection. I need or deserve this "cake, candy, 2nd helping...pick something"... I will diet tomorrow.... Fat people eat mindlessly Living like a thin person means thinking about food and eating in a different way. My Dr said even as you are losing... if you starting thinking like a thin person it is preparing you for when you reach your goal. some examples are: Are you hungry or satisfied? Do you like a particular food or not? If I eat this cake now what am I going to give up later? I over did it yesterday so I need to watch it today.... Really pay attention to what you're eating. If you do, one scoop of ice cream should satisfy you as much as an entire pint. So I wrestle with it daily but was wondering how...even if you arent there yet you are thinking like a thin person?

    I do the same thing with my tpoddler Granddaughter. SInce we eat about the same amount I watch how she eats... enjoying the textures, flavor and color.... its pretty cool

    I do the same thing... I watch people eat... it borders on obsessive ...LOL But it amazes me how MUCH fat people eat. I was right there with them at one time but I never noticed it.

    Oh thats a good one.... I was brought up as a proud member of the clean plate club... thats a hard one to change. SO I use a smaller plate and smaller portions.

    Its all about portions and food selecrion. During my 22 months of losing I went on several vacations, numerous business trips. I never gained a pound and actually lost 3 lbs on my most recent vacation... We only sabatoge ourselves....

    Confused After Seminar

    I will give you a little insight into my story....I had BMI of 55 when I started at 377 lbs. I lost my weight in 22 months. I had 217 lbs to lose. I had no health issues. My dr said he felt I was a good band candidate because I was willing to do what it would take by sacrificing everything necessary to make it work. I did it. I followed his orders, measured my portions and tracked my calories. Everyday for 22 months ... So the band worked for me because I made it work, Now I am maintaining and the band is doing it's job... Preventing me from overheating. It's not messing with my bodily systems, depriving me of Vitamins or harming my functionality in any way. I love my band!

    Constipated!!!

    I would add Fiber to my Water or other beverage... I used it 2x per day during the liquid stage. Worked like a charm, Ps its odorless and tasteless

    I had surgery on a Thursday... Was back at work for half days and tuesday and Wednesday ... Back to normal on Thursday

    Anyone Love Shopping Now?

    I was an online and catalog shopper pre band.... I hated shopping, paying high prices for fat clothes and the overall experience. Now.... I love finding bargains , finding clothes in consignment stores that fit and standing in my closet looking at a wonderful selection.
