My motto is to do whatever it takes. If that means to leave the house while others are eating then so be it. I was just talking to a friend last night about her upcoming holiday party. She was saying... Remember 2 years ago how you stayed in the living room during the party and never ventured in the kitchen and family room because you were on post op liquids. I laughed and yes I did remember that. She said... I really admired you that night because you still got out and had fun.. You just stayed away from the food. Now it doesn't even bother me... And it won't you either because you will be too busy fending off the compliments on how great you look!!

If you want to come to Florida in the USA I would reccomend my surgeon but I am guess that's not what you had in mind. We have some people on here from the UK so hopefully they can help.

I think all of us go through that. But remember how other diets have failed because you got bored, it was too exspensive, it was tedious, you got tired of it or pick another reason. Or if you were successfull... It stopped dieting per se and gained it all back. That's the beauty of the band when Used properly. It makes our natural urge to eat without consideration obsolete.

Stuffed Myself And Still Lost Hmmmm....

Seconds and pecan pie will make those 4 lbs creep back up pretty fast. Just because you overdid it yesterday doesn't mean you shou'd have,. Pecan pie has 518 calories...for 1/8 of a pie!!!! Hopefully today you are back on the band wagon. The time after banding and before restriction is tough but it's really important you count calories and measure portions so you will lose during this time. -
I was allowed to keep on my wedding rings as well... They didn't even cover them that I know of unless they did it after I was knocked out ...and then uncovered them before I awoke which seems unlikely....

Unless the naysayers paid for your surgery they really have no right to offer their rude comments. And if they did pay for your surgery they must ha e believed in you so ask them why the change of heart. My reply to anyone you wasnt on my team would be....I appreciate your interest but I would prefer if you kept your comments to yourself. This is my journey and i need your support not your ridicule. The band isnt a miracle cure .... its a tool to help me lose weight and keep it off. And oh by the way... Just because I was banded doesn't mean the weight is going to drop off in a month.

Banded On Tuesday, Horrible Mirgaine, Still On Liquid Phase Any Suggestions?
FLORIDAYS replied to cristal65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious...did you do a pre op liquid diet? Or stop caffeine or sugar preop? I ask because it sound like the same type of symptoms as when you elimate those things from your diet....if it is it should pass soon. Take some liquid Tylenol to help you get through it. -
I was on the 2nd day of my pre op liquid diet. I had a headache from hell... I was starving or so I thought and and I was pretty ticked off I had to cook for 15 people when I couldn't even eat! I was feeling pretty sorry for myself but I busied myself in the kitchen and plowed through the day. I cannot tell you it was the best day of my life but I put a smile on my face and kept reminding myself the sacrifice would be worth it. Fast forward 2 years and I am in the kitchen cooking again anticipating the 10 people hungry people who will arrive in a few short hours. The food will be plentiful but I will be eating about as much as my 17 month old granddaughter...probably less. But this year I could care less. I am enjoying everything these days. I am thinner than I have been since I was 12. I am thankful for my health and the support of my friends and family who have lived through this journey for the past 24 months. I am thankful I can dress stylish, not sweat in my kitchen because I am so fat.... And stand at the kitchen sink for hours with out actually sitting to peel the potatoes. I am telling you this because many of you are just starting your journeys or are in the middle of them...and I just wanted to remind you that this is the best decision you ever made....and for that you should be thankful. Have a wonderful holiday

Going Back To Work During Phase Ii
FLORIDAYS replied to lovely29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I packed my shakes in a plastic container. You can make homemade soup and pack in 1 c containers. The same for v8 juice and coffee and tea. -
So glad it was timely... This time next year you will be writing it.

LOL. My pleasure now go out and win one for the Gipper...
-
thanks... I was just thinking about how far I had come since that thanksgiving day 2 years ago and hoped I could encourage someone... Glad you had a nice meal!

We started the exact same time...very cool!

I would most likely give it 6 weeks to completely heal or when you feel your stamina is back 100%.

Asking An Embarrassing ???
FLORIDAYS replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donna...I too am bottom heavy....and I was wearing the lane Bryant size 26 when I started. I bought some cheap Walmart panties in 9 and XL at target when I was about 250.... They should work for you. Happy shopping... I am not getting near Walmart but am heading out at 5 am like an idiot to score some holiday decorations, cards and whatever else I think I must own. Lol -
There is absolutely no reason to over eat with the band. ... Please remember it isn't all about the food. It's about the gifts we have received this year....and the good things to come. Happy Thanksgiving

If you are on liquids chicken broth is your best bet. Enjoy!!

How Can You Tell??
FLORIDAYS replied to lovinjacobe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you aren't drinking carbonation or calorie ladened drinks you cannot drink too much. -
Its rare... but if I get stuck its because I didnt chew well or more especially ate too fast. I usually feel it about 15 minutes after the last bite... It feels like a brick is on my chest and I want to throw up. I dont but I will usually bring up some of the food and spit it in my napkin. It usually takes 20-30 minutes for the feeling to pass. Its not pleasant but its managable because you know it will pass. But I do not advise it.

Ahh thanks for the info. It sound little gas left over from surgery. Walking is about the best way to relieve it. But you could try Gas x or some other OTC relief. If its as bad as it sounds you may want to call the Dr for other suggestions. You should feel better soon.
-
I agree with the others...we do not have enough info to offer suggestions. If you prefer not to give it... then I suggest calling the Dr or going to the ER. WIshing you well....
