There is no reason you and your daughter cannot diet together.... I don't know how old she is....but surgery is a last resort... Maybe you can explain it to her that she won't need a band if she changes her eating habits now learns to live a healthy lifestyle with you.

I never had that happen. I would call the Dr and see what they say

I am having mine on 12/18. My bariatric Dr said he could install a low profile port. My plastic surgeon said he didnt think it was necessary that he could work around it.... so I am going to leave it alone and hope for the best. My port isnt very visable all the time... just occasionally.

Hello! :) Getting Banded Tomorrow Nov 29. Feeling Really Nervous :(
FLORIDAYS replied to Bel1014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
11 lbs is a good loss but its more about shrinking your liver for the surgery as its in front of the stomach. Good luck tomorrow! -
Thanks very much. I believe my Dr's support was a big part in my success. I am glad you have one you have confidence in. Interesting.... we havent heard from any Dr bashers yet....

I Got A Fill - Now Food Seems To Pass Easier
FLORIDAYS replied to Bracchus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am the same way.... but I have to do liquids the first 24 hrs so usually dont notice.... Also dont forget... as you lose weight, the fat around your stomach is reduced and that can effect how your band offers less restriction without warning -
Nauseous After Eating
FLORIDAYS replied to tonyann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much food are you eating at your meals? You may be eating too much or too little. Also My Dr said the band is designed to hold you for 4 hrs between food... so maybe brunch at 11 and dinner at 6 is too long to go and your tummy is so empty the food makes it unsettled. Just an idea..... -
Scheduling Fills With A Heavy Travel Schedule
FLORIDAYS replied to Pebbagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr doesnt really have a fill schedule...he decided on a fill based on my feedback and how well I am losing. I was banded 12/9. I thought I was having my first fill in January and ended up having it in February because I was losing so well. Then I had another in April and one in May when I finally hit the green zone. Granted the time before hitting the green zone is pure willpower even tho you willhave some restriction... so you could tough it out until you get home or the other option would be to wait and see. If you find you are really needing a fill you could schedule a quicky trip at that time. And BTW... I have no idea what an emergency kit is either. -
Hey Toddy I will come over and get rid of them for you.

I have that mindset as well.... I had a medical device installed in my body by by choice... there is NO WAY I am going to do anything to jeopordize its ability to function the way it was intended. Having a band issue scares me to death.

I Hate Protein Shakes-Frustrated
FLORIDAYS replied to Joy1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other than a sugar free instant breakfast because I dont tolerate food in the mornng....I havent had a protein shake since I started on mushies. My Dr prefers I get my nutrition from food. -
I am 52 and once I made the decision to be banded I never looked back. SUrgery was a drastic step for me... it was going to work and I never thought it wouldnt. As I grew out of clothes I donated them. I do not have one stitch of clothing which is too big for me now. I am almost to goal... and I have decided I will never be fat again. Its that simple. I have a tool to help me in the band and I have a scale. I covet both and I will never... I repeat never let myself get out of control again.

I am sorry you are hungry all the time but why the complete disregard of your band? Eating solids 2 weeks after surgery is dangerous unless thats what your dr ordered which I would be surprised to hear. And candy isnt exactly a nutritious selection. Usually during this time its liquids and mushies... did your Dr give you a post op diet? The band is a tool but you have to put forth the effort. And as much as this sounds like I am being uncaring.... its the honest truth.

How Soon After Surgery Did You Return To The Gym?
FLORIDAYS replied to molldoll83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Returning to the gym would indicate that I have ever stepped foot in one.... Which at 377 lbs I had not. I was allowed to walk right away but told not to do anything more strenuous until my 2 month post op visit. -
Yes I was on the site after reading the first packet of info the dr gave me. Lots of good info

How Many Calories Do You Take In A Day
FLORIDAYS replied to kathyzimmerman24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In my losing stage I ate 1000 calories each day after clearing it with the dr. I have 11 more lbs to take off my I am doin g it in the maintainience stage so i eat about 1500 calories now... But I have trouble eating all that. I expect when I get those 11 lbs off I may need a slight unfill... Not sure how that works. -
How Long Did It Take You?
FLORIDAYS replied to Dobiegh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a self pay after being denied In Record time.... . The appeal was denied also in one day. I had my appointment the first of October and was ready for preop after completing the NUT visit, lab work, cardiac dr and psych dr visits with in a month. We had some time away and other things planned so I started my preop diet the day before thanksgiving, had surgery dec 9 and ate my first solids on new years day. -
I cut mine in quarters if they are too big but I do check with the dr before he prescribes them to make sure it's ok.
