I cannot recall how many times I was SURE I would get a fill and after a discussion with my Dr did not. SInce I saw him monthly for the first 18 months... I bet he talked me out of a fill 5-6 times. And it would turn out he was right. Only twice did I plead my case and get fills he wasnt sold on me having. Turns out I did need them but looking back I may have been able to plow thru without them. A good Dr knows the questions to ask and the conversations to have with you...and they are usually right.

During the 2nd week post op I was only to get in about 700-800. By the time I was on mushies I was up to the 1000 I stayed at for 2 years.

During my losing stage I counted every morsel I put in my mouth except toothpaste. I averaged 1000 calories each day. I didnt trust myself to just wing it. I did however eat 3 small meals daily.... but certainly not of "anything". 3 small meals of chocolate cake wouldnt have lost me 216 lbs and I would have had a severe Vitamin deficiency. As I am learning to maintain I have stopped tracking and eyeball it but after 2 years I am very comfortable in my choices. However I use my phone ap to look up calorie counts all the time.

FLORIDAYS replied to RosieGlow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to the forum. As others have said... thre are so many success stories from people who hang out here at LBT... you are sure to be inspired. I did the Optifast 2 week pre op.... Once you get past the 4th day you will be fine. Best wishes! -
Sounds like you are taking the first steps for success. Congrats ! For me I do not follow a specific diet. My dr and I agreed on 1000 calories per day.. And at each meal 3 oz protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch/carbs

You may find you will tolerate spicy food just fine. Just wait until you are healed, eating normal foods and in the green zone and feeling completely normal... -
Support Group Raised Questions
FLORIDAYS replied to pinkcess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not hungry all the time. My band is designed to hold food to keep me satisfied for 4-5 hrs at a time. It does it's job and then some. -
I see...well if it's supposed to be medically supervised I wonder why the dr didnt give you something to follow. Sorry I cannot be of more help but I am not a dr.

I am with the others...if you cannot keep water down its time to call the dr

Is this for a pre op diet? How long are you supposed to be on it? Didn't your dr provide you fwith a list?

FLORIDAYS replied to show1980's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know you didn't ask me. But i will volunteer it.... It I weigh in 2 x a day...morning and night, I know it's excessive but not getting on the scale for the majority of my life got me to 377 lbs...so I figure it doesn't hurt. -
Sounds normal to me. Don't forget to walk walk walk and sip sip sip!!
-
I would ask him for a specific list of what your should, eat and for how long. Then ask him how he feels about vegetables and fruit.

Thinking About Getting The Lapland But Super Scared
FLORIDAYS replied to Ladymarie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The lap band surgery is simple on the scale of surgeries... I am having a tummy tuck in a few weeks and my surgeon said that was way more complicated... On a scale of 1-10 the pain was a 2 and the discomfort was about a 5 in my case. -
thanksLuckily my plastic surgeon does a lot of work with my bariatric dr so both know each others work.... I am hoping the port doesn't stick out too badly. I have a frowning belly button and a few folds I am so excited to get rid of The excess skin and a taught tummy will be the crowing jewel

Does The First Fill Make The Difference??
FLORIDAYS replied to Mandylove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine came off with or without fills because i ate 1000 calories a day. The fills made it easier to live with myself because my food would help the food satisfy me for 4/5 hrs at a time instead of being hungry an hour after I ate such a small amount. -
I haven't had a unffill but I do remember the nurse telling me same rules apply... 24 hrs of liquid the 24 hrs of mushies.
-
There are 3 rules you need to accept if you become a patient of my dr. The first is no carbonation ...ever. He said a sip of champagne now and then would be ok...but other than that I had to agree to eliminate it from my vocabulary. So I had a funeral for my beloved diet coke and what Stinks is my hubby drinks it like water so it's always in the fridge. But I just ignore it.
