I want to cry. :(
FLORIDAYS replied to Stephleupagus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have just gone through surgery, had a medical device implanted, drank liquids for heavens knows how long...and made it through the holidays....... Give yourself a break. What you are feeling is buyers remorse and once the weight starts coming off.... You will be so pleased with the results. In the meantime let your mind and body heal..... -
I am past where you are but I am very excited for you.... It's the first step towards your new life. I remember feeling the excitement and could not wait to get started..... Congratulations,
-
Everything worth having is worth the wait and effort! Congrats!

Initial Appointment
FLORIDAYS replied to rockdutchess82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on taking the first step. I wish you well on your journey! -
I got my first fill at 2 months. That offered me enough restriction to make it through 2 more months before the next fill. I was fortunate... I never really had bandster hell unless I all of a sudden I needed a fill and had to wait for an appointment. I believe however that because I followed the portion sizes and counted calories my body got used to that amount of food and my body was satisfied even when i felt I needed restriction.

No..and I do not advise it. If it were ok your dr would have told you to start mushies early. Your stomach is healing after having a foreign object placed around it. Eating food right now could do some serious damage, please wait until your dr gives you the green light.

You are doing great Rhonda! Keep it up!
-
Mine is painless.... I wouldnt even know it unless I watched the needle go in...which I try to avoid...LOL
-
I didnt have it but my Dr said it was very common..... best wishes to you!
-
hilarious...my mother said to tell me that ALL the time... Tanned fat looks better than white fat...thanks for reminding me. LOL As for the too thin comments I am getting them too and its driving me nuts. I have 7 more lbs to lose....believe me I am not withering away..... I think people say it to make themselves feel better....
-
Wow.... I would kill not to like as many foods as I do... But since being banded.... I can take 'em or leave them... Congrats on your success!

Its funny and sad but my surgeon asked me at my first consult if I was in a strong marriage... was I ever thin in the marriage....basically preparring me that as I changed so might others perceptions... My husband and I discussed it and were prepared for it when it first happened. Beacause you will get oogled and unwanted advances from others. But as long as you are strong to your core and are firm in your responses you should be fine. In fact now my husband will say...come on... lets go show you off. And he doesnt mean it in a nasty or unusual way... but I think he is just proud of me and wants to share that. He knows who he is going home with.... so do I. As for your relatives and friends... I might pull them aside and explain how their comments make you uncomfortable and ask them to stop. You can do it in a nice way and if they dont get it... then maybe you dont need to associate with them.

Mis said it well and let me add.... you ARE a modal bandster because you arent letting it get out of control... you are only up a few pounds... you will lose it in no time. Before the band it would just keep creeping back up.....
-
My Dr required no carbonation so its not an option for me. He feels its greatly will do damage to the band. However I cannot see how you could lose weight drinking sugary soda unless you count it as part of your calories count. And since most bandsters in the losing stage will be between 1000-1200 calories... that would be a big chunk of it. I might revisit this with your dr.

so glad you are doing well. you look fab!! I am doing well too...just still get tired more quickly then usual but hopefully time will heal that
-
But the difference in pre band and post band is although we can have days like this...but they do not last. As you are feeling today you will get moving, sweat it out, go back to healthy band sizes portions and end the cycle. Whereas pre band.... today would be another day of heavy eating and the cycle continued..and we got fatter and fatter. Great job!!

Was given the best Christmas gift ever.
FLORIDAYS replied to kca1fan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
what wonderful news.... I can relate. I was on my first diet at aged 10. I remember my mother going to this dr who shot her up with some kind of cow's urine or something and he thought it would be safe for me too. I can remember my mother cutting up meat and veggies for me to take to school to eat.... Mine is a life long battle but I really feel I have found the life save I needed. -
IM GETTING UPSET READY TO GIVE Up
FLORIDAYS replied to MsRhonda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rhonda. I am sorry you are frustrated. The first few months are the hardest.... like others said you have to want it very badly to make it through. .how are you doing with sticking to the portion sizes and calorie counting we talked about? -
I Cooked a fab dinner for my Inlaws, hubby, one of our daughters and the light of my life her 18 month old daughter. Even though I am less than week post op from the tt and bj surgery I started early and rested in-between chores. Polishing the silver was more strenuous than I expected but I didn't push it and was fine. I did have someone clean this week so didn't have to worry about that... But the shopping and cooking was all me. We had rib eye steak w bernaise sauce, sauteed caramelized onions and mushrooms, twice baked potatoes, Lima beans, green beans, carrots, my speciality spinach salad, rolls and apple pie, vanilla pudding pie laced with chocolate and homemade cookies. Since I am maintaining and healing from surgery I decided I would really enjoy a few more bites then normal since I cooked all my favs...well except the Lima beans...bleckkkkk. So the eating commenced and I ate about 2 oz of meat, a teaspoon of the mushrooms and onions, a few green beans, 1 carrot, and about a 1/4 c of salad. I also had about 1/4 of the potato and one cookie.... I was amazed... I seriously couldnt eat any more... I love my band. I will never gain the weight back... Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night....

You aren't alone. I am 2 years out and I still do it if I don't measure my food. My husband just laughs and says... How many meals is that for? Knowing full well I won't eat it all.
