Me too...if I start hicupping...it's time. To stop eating. And I do.

It's not unusual the first few weeks not to be getting enough calories... Just make sure you are drinking lots of Water while i am glad your dr approved the personal trainer.....consider it may be still early on for that so go easy. Good luck!

Maintaining Weight While Travel
FLORIDAYS replied to losangelesislovely's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Taking an extended time away from familiarity and your drs will be challenging but not impossible. I would continue to eat my portion sizes and not deviate from your plan too much so you continue to lose. You can still count calories and measure portions anywhere in the world. In fact you can bring the proper measuring devices with you. It's all about how badly you want it to work. If you want to lose weight then you will because you will do the things necessary to its success....and you could do that on the moon if you wanted. Of course if you find you are in need of a fill you will be pretty much out of luck so that's where your will power will have to come into play. Best wishes for a successful journey -

I have very fine hair but eniugh of it,,,,and although I was 50 at the time of surgery I didn't experience e any loss. I did however take Biotin for the first year so I dont know if it was the biotin or genetics that let me keep my hair. As for the sags... I just had my tummy tuck and breast aug/lift a about 11 days ago... Something. I never thought I would do.... So far loving the results!!! -

I am a number maniac. I am on the scale twice a day. When I am traveling i use a tape measure to just check that I didnt gain 100 lbs In a day...lol. Before banding I used an excel spreadsheet to guestimate how much weight I would lose by so and so date.... Trust me I was obsessed. In fact I had tummy tuck and breast lift and augmentation surgery last week and I made the nurse weigh the skin they removed and the implants they put in..... I was up a few pounds after surgery from all the fluids I am guessing and I about had a heart attack. As for to fill or not to fill... If you are staying satisfied for 5 hrs that's usually a sign you don't Need a fill but no harm in discussing it with your dr since you aren't losing.

and now the hard part... real food
FLORIDAYS replied to finallytime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I am calling you Martha Stewart from now on. That all sounds just wonderful! The best advice I can give you is to track every single thing you put in you mouth. And when you reach your calorie count for the day... No more eating, trust me I remember one day I had all my calories by 4pm...it was just one of those days.. Right before a fill....I think I went to bed at 8p just so I wouldn't have to think about not eating any more. Lol Great job thus far!! -
Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?
FLORIDAYS replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Twenty years ago i was on a liquid diet where I lost a crazy amout of weight in like 8 months... Well over 100 lbs. Then my gall bladder went into overdrive and started producing toxic something or other and I had to have emergency surgery to remove it. The dr said he is 100% sure it was my rapid weight loss which induced the problem... So I would think it would make sense that if people lose weight quickly with the band or other WLS the gall bladder might be a problem. But of course it may not happen to everyone. -
26 years old TUMMY TUCK! 120 pounds down
FLORIDAYS replied to Meagan's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Meagan ...a man who loves you for a life time won't be turned off by up your tummy but I do understand you being turned off by it... I was the same way. While my tummy bothered me...my husband said it didn't matter to him..but I had to take off my clothes and being intimate in a bra and panties only goes so far. If you think this will make you feel better then you should do it... But do it for you and no one else. -
My sister in law mixes it with sugar free jelly.... She eats it like crazy. I happen to like it with a seasoning of some kind.... Like salt free mrs dash or something with a little zip.

Approved but have questions
FLORIDAYS replied to asr2468's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I only have to surgeries to compare it to...gall bladder which was laparoscopic in 1990 but I was down for 3 weeks,.... And I do mean down. The other was my tummy tuck on dec 18 and while I didn't have a lot a pain it's uncomfortable. With the band I never took any pain meds, I had surgery on a Thursday and was working by Tuesday. Other than being tired and the gas pains.... It wasn't bad at all. As for being nauseous... I wasn't. And as for getting stuck,,., even if you always follow the rules it could happen but it's just a matter of time before it passes. Best wishes as you consider your options. -

Welcome to the other side!!! Best wishes for an uneventful recovery! -
I prefer the bars because it's a controlled portions...they also have ice cream sandwhiches and fudge pops... I stay away from the cups of the actual ice cream because if I recall the whole thing is too many calories and I would eat the whole thing...lol I know you can own this Donna.... Heck if I could do it...I KNOW you can.

If i were a dr...which i am not I would ask several question before I could even begin to make a call on you not losing... Are you eating no more than 3 oz protien, 1/2 c veg, 1/4 c starch ...3 times each day ? Are you having no more than 1 or 2 Snacks which are low in calories? Are you tracking your food on paper or a phone ap? I mean every single thing you put in your mouth. How many calories are you consuming daily? Are you drinking 64 oz of Water each and every day? If you are doing all of that and your calorie count is reasonable ( mine was 1000-1200 the first month or so)... You should be losing weight. If not then you may want to consider trying it. No matter how you perceive the bands effectiveness... It's a tool to help you eat smaller portions to keep you satisfied longer. But you must out forth the effort in reducing your calories and portions. If you are doing all of the above...you may have a medical reason you aren't losing so I would gather my food diaries and march into my drs to find out why. Best of luck.

Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?
FLORIDAYS replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
. I always started every meal with 3 oz protien, 1/2 c veg and 1/4 c starch... I never ate any more then that for a meal but most times I couldn't finish it... You will know. It will be like... I really WANT one more bite... But I probably am satisfied enough so I think I will stop now. -
Ahhhh whew you had me worried....lol

Some people withdraw when they don't know what to do. Many men so it very well. He doesn't know how to help you so he does nothing and stays away. He may feel like as you say he has lost an eating buddy or that this really might work and you are going to leave him when you start looking hot...who knows what he is thinking since he won't share it but I think The best thing you could do is to let him know more then ever how much you need him right now... Seems ironic..for you to be supporting him through this I know but you may be surprised when he reciprocates. As far as you... You have probably realized your life has undergone a permanent change and there are a slew of emotions connected with that. Relax..focus on hubby and daughter when not working on yourself and let it happen..... Best wishes
