Just curious....If you are liquids why are you eating fish? -
Why people and studies are so negative about lapband
FLORIDAYS replied to alicelopes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't pay attention to Debby downers or non verified statistics, when deciding on WLS I researched the options available, interview doctors and made my decision based on my health, personality, habits and goals. For me the band was the most viable options. So far it hasn't proven otherwise. -
Weight increase
FLORIDAYS replied to Krystle Austin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well being sick and being on antibiotics can mess up a loss...so can time of the month.but I am most interested to hear how you are deviating from your plan since you said you haven't been perfect. Are you not tracking calories. Are you over eating? The time inbetween fills is tricky and you have to stick to your plan like glue until you can get the band to help you. But during this time if you stick to your calories you will continue to lose. You have such a great start. I am so proud of your efforts!!!! -
I don't cook 2 meals either. I don't have that much energy, desire or time!!! I cook for my family like normal and eat what I can. Usually it's always a protien, veggie and starch anyway so I am good to go sticking with my portions. Every once in a while the family wants pizza or something I just cannot eat like French fried potatoes....so I just make do with whatever I can and supplement if need be.

Does anyone else worry they will fail with the band?
FLORIDAYS replied to dolphintattoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to be honest... I never thought I would fail.... deciding to get banded was a huge drastic step for me to take and I was committed to doing everything and anything in order to be successful. I felt it was the last step for me... And although I didn't have any health issues other than borderline high BP I felt if this didn't work I would have an early end to my life because I couldnt continue to carry around 377 lbs and live to tell about it. So I made sure I followed every rule....listened to me drs orders and ventured on this journey ei one thing in mind,,,, and fast forward 2 years later I did it.... And I feel very blessed to have been successful. -
Just had to share a little (non-scale) victory!

That's so awesome. Congratulations!!!! For me that was the only motivation I needed to get through the day. Remember it's just one meal at a time! -
6 months out, starting to struggle...HELP!
FLORIDAYS replied to mdonahue4688's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your weight loss will only stop if you want it too.... If it were me I would go back to tracking calories and portions.... The simple math should move the scales. I would also make an appointment with the dr and have a frank conversation with him about getting back on track. Best of luck to you! -
No restriction, doc doesn't want to fill
FLORIDAYS replied to farmgirl04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr is fill stingy. At first I hated it but now I understand it. In fact because I was tracking calories and eating proper portions from the beginning i was losind and he didn't fill me for 2 months... And then it took 3 more to get to the green zone. His rule of thumb is if your meals do not keep you satisfied for 5 hrs, you are looking for food, you are eating to much or you aren't losing you may need a fill. There were many times I was SURE I needed a fill only to leave his office empty handed and find I actually was able to survive without one for another month.... But I really believe I stuck to my plan like glue. -
Mine have never hurt....

Plastic Surgery for Skin Donation
FLORIDAYS replied to RachelMMYHarris's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I tried to donate my skin they removed from my tummy tuck 2 weeks ago.... But they couldnt use it. It was only 10 oz total weight and no fat behind it so it came off like cheesecloth.. I was kind of disappointed -
Headed with friends to get fresh seafood on the beach.... It will be my first real outing but today I am 2 weeks post up and I think I am up for it.

Congratulations om the birth of your child. Nothing better than that to put your journey on hold. First place I would start is with your dr. Tell him exactly what you told us... He may suggest liquids for a week to jump start your loss. Then start working towards getting you band back to good restriction and start eating proper portions. From the beginning I would track calories... Every single thing you put in your mouth. When you have eaten your daily allotmentment ....stop eating. Before you know it the weight will start coming off and you will be well on your way. As for the exercising... I didn't do any of it until I lost the first 100 lbs so if that overwhelming right now...just adjust your calorie count accordingly. Mine was 1000 per day... Yours may be different Best wishes to you for success!

I think a monthly loss of 5 lbs is very doable. Best of luck to you!!!

Have to agree that as I am settling into maintainience I chuckled at all the displays in the stores for diet foods, exercise equipment and the next best thing to help you lose weight. It's such a scam ..and I fell into for oh so many years. When really it was so simple.... Count your calories, eat healthy and have the band as your secret weapon to help keep it all on track.... Oh how easy is that?? Happy New Year!!!
-
It actually is pretty amazing to me that I haven't even gone up a pound... NO diet I was ever on acted like this. I think I Would gain 20 in the first week after going off.... I feel like the band has taught me how to eat and governs my intake so I just cannot gain if I pay attention which I realize i will have to do forever....

Anyone regain liquid diet weight? Or only notice loss at Green Zone?
FLORIDAYS replied to losangelesislovely's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ThIs is what worked for me....Beginning on week three of thickened liquids I started tracking every single calorie that went in my mouth except toothpaste. I allowed myself 1000 calories every day for my entire journey. I went to the dr once a month and got fills when needed. I lost 220 lbs in less than 2 years. I never had a gain. I also didn't cheat or eat more than the portions of food I was allowed. Sometimes until I got restriction I would go to bed early just so I didnt eat... Or I would hold something in my hands that I wanted but could afford the calories and just smell it...LOL. Believe me it wasn't easy all the time. But That said I wasn't perfect... I splurged occasionally on a glass of wine, a few m&ms, a dinner roll... But I tracked it and made it part if my daily calorie intake. I firmly believe if everyone does this they will be successfull. I do not know how it could fail. I am not saying everyone should be as strict as I was but if you want results you need to go the extra mile and help your band help you. Best of luck!! -
I know it hurts but When a door closes...a window opens.... You surgery is your window to a whole new world. Throw yourself into it and flourish. Best wishes for your success!!!!

Looking for mentor / buddies near Tampa FL
FLORIDAYS replied to greatchef12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I am In Plant City and work in Tampa. Congrats on being banded! Nice to meet you. Crackers aren't a liquid so I would say no they aren't acceptable. As for the gas... Gas the first several weeks is very normal... Remember your cavity was pumped up with air during surgery.... So it has to escape somehow...why it takes so long I haven't a clue,,,, but it does...I promise. -
Well...I only have about 2 months experience....and although I have 7 more lbs to get to the original number my dr , husband and even me are comfortable where I am at...so if I lose or don't...I am ok with it. That said... Maintaining has been easier than I expected. I can eat stuff I wasn't able too during the losing stage but most of the time I either don't want it or I cannot eat very much of it.... So it seems to balance out, I still jump on the scale twice a day and believe me if I see I am up a lb you can bet the next day I will be a model bandster. LOL

That just means your primary dr or family dr has to write a letter saying you are healthy for surgery.... -
Hmmmm maybe a pulled muscle? Other than that you may want to check with the dr if the pain intensifies. hope you feel better....
