Tummy tuck and breast left on Tuesday 12/18
FLORIDAYS replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Pretty well...back at work today..thankfully have a desk job but other than being tired it was pretty good. I just posted a new pic of day 15 post op in my tummy gallery... and I will attempt to post it here as well. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/uploads/gallery/album_11062/gallery_303301_11062_20775.jpg -
It is very exciting but please remember a fill doesn't make you lose weight. Eating less calories does that which is why portions, calorie tracking and self control play a huge part in a life of a banded person. The band will help you from overeating, it will keep you satisfied longer between meals and it will be a great source of support when properly restricted. Best wishes for a successful journey!

Back on liquid diet after 5 days of mushies
FLORIDAYS replied to Peaceful1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquids 2 wks prior and 3 weeks post op...so the fact you cannot tolerate food sounds normal to me and I believe your dr knows best. -
Not trying to cause alarm but without a proper medical exam we would all be guessing. I would get in to see the dr pronto to rule out anything serious. Best wishes to you.

I am the most considerate person you will meet especially in the workplace. Someone once told me i could tell her to go to hell and she would thank me for the trip. LOL However...i am also direct and find its better to be honest and manage peoples expectations so If it were me... The next time she came at me with something silly like you are drinking too much water I would politely say ."..I am following my doctors orders and I feel very comfortable with it. Thanks for your help but I think I will just find my own way". And every time she tried to offer advise I would say the exact same thing. She will tire of the game rather quickly I bet.

What was the afternoon of your surgery like?
FLORIDAYS replied to dolphintattoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was at 1230 and I was in my room by 245p... They had me walking the halls by 330 and was released to go home at 730p.. I slept all the way home ...45 min drive and then walked around the house for a bit, drank some apple juice and was back in bed by 9p for the night. You know your kids and I am sure them visiting you would be fine. They can take you on a walk. -
that is correct. I never did any formal exercise however I did start walking a mile after I lost the first hundred. And you are right...that's why I kept my calorie count low....
-
I didnt worry particulary about carbs..just calories..Cheerios and raisin bran worked for my dietary requirements... 1/2 cup w skim milk
-
I lost eating 1000 calories for 2 years. Now I am not tracking because I am maintaining so I focus on portions more than calories...however after doing it for 2 years I tend to have a running total for the day in my head and it's about 1500.

The band was made to work with a fill. Think how well you would be losing if you didn't have to be worried about looking to snack between meals. There is nothing to be scared about.... You want the band to function at its optimum level. Best wishes !

If you don't want to tell just say female surgery.... That shuts anyone up...lol

Thanks!! Believe me the comments get more frequent as you lose...I went to a holiday party a few weeks ago and was like...is there anything else to talk about besides weight loss!!!!? I mean it's so nice and I love it but sometimes i just want to talk about the weather. Lol

FLORIDAYS replied to Annie1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your loss. I just asked about the fish because I was worried about you doing damage to the band this early on. Stay focused and stick to your drs orders,..you will be fine -
Sugar free chocolate pudding 60 calories Chocolate granola thins 80 calories 2 Hershey's kisses 40 calories Skinny cow chocolate truffle ice cream bar 110 calories Fudgesicle sugar free 40 calories Sugar free diet hot chocolate 25 Calories

Very normal. Then one day you will put on your favorite go to blouse and it will look and feel too big...and the light will go off. I promise!!!!

3 oz of meat is about the size of your palm. 1/2 small baked potato is about 1/4 c... 1/3 of a larger one.... Veggies...4 tablespoons is about right.
-
Popcorn and veggies measure fine in a measuring cup. Sandwhiches I would do individually... 1 slice of wheat bread equals 50 calories about I serving of starch which is about 1/4 cp. then I would weigh the meat and whatever else.
-
I didn't make a big deal out of it. First hubby and I discussed and I decided. Then I matter of factly told people as the need/situation arose. I didn't tell people in a formal announcement.

I have these as a go to afternoon snack....love them! Usually can find coupons too!!

There are several people who have both on this site who post often so I am sure they will reply soon. Congrats on taking the first step!

FLORIDAYS replied to smzava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well with proper restriction that should be the case... so you must not be there yet.. I would certainly follow up with the Dr on that. An average day would be as follows. BFast 1 egg 1 pc whole wheat toast / marg / SF jelly 1/2 slice bacon lunch 3 oz tuna mixed with fat dree dressing 6 wheat thins 1/2 c veggie or salad Snack 1/2 banana dinner 3 oz fish, chix, beef, pork 1/2 c veggies 1/4 c starch like 1/2 baked potato, Pasta, rice etc Evening Snack if needed sugar free skinny cow bar or fruit -

5 Months Out & No Real Weight Loss-Is This Normal?
FLORIDAYS replied to smzava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats not the way the band works. With the band its a tool to use to help you feel satisfied on a small portion....usually about 1 cup of healthy food. Until you have restriction you must be very strict with yourself and count calories and track your food and measure portions. If you continue to eat like you did before you were banded you wont lose weight. I am sorry your Dr is not providing this information. Have you discussed it with him? At four months out I had seen my Dr monthly and was at restriction. I had lost a lot of weight. But its not because I was in the green zone... its because I made sure to eat a reduced calorie diet of 1000 calories each and every day. Its shear willpower until you hit that restriction so if you dont have I would visit the dr again soon to get there. Best of luck!
