    Plastic Surgery for Skin Donation

About 5 hrs I had three procedures...a breast lift and augmentation and the tummy tuck. I went under at 830 am and the dr called my husband at 130p to tell me they were finished... And I had and I quote....a smoking bod.... LOL. My husband got a kick out of that. I was awake by about 215p and on my way home at 3ish

    Long list of no-no foods

I didn't think the band was around in 1996 but then I saw the correction. The only food I can honestly say I have a major issue with is rice. No matter how slow I eat or how mushy I make it it's coming back 90% of the time. I hope you get in to see your dr so you both can determine why you are having these issues. Best of luck!
  4. You may want to look but if I recall there is a recent thread somewhere on this forum where people all over the country posted their costs... I live in Florida, was self pay and it was about 10k

    1000-1200 Calorie Diet

I did 1000 calories of solid food from the time I started mushies. My dr doesn't advocate protien shakes as he feels you do not get the full feeling and they are empty calories so I didn't do them. Others will disagree which is fine...so check with the dr, I used my droid phone with calorie counter by fatsecret.com to track every calorie I put in my mouth to make sure I never went over my allotment. My guidlene daily was three meals a day of 3 oz protien, 1/2 c veggie and 1/4 c starch. I was also allowed 2 Snacks one which was usually a fruit.
  6. Thursday seems to be the day of choice. I planned on going back Monday but didn't happen. I did work from home tho. Then the next 2 days I went in the office for half days..back to ft on Thursday.

    i feel bad

In the future you may want to stop associating food with happiness..because if you think about it..... It couldn't be farther from the truth Make sure you track your calories and get back on track tomorrow.

    Excited, Scared, Confused!

In the beginning and for a while you will just want to sip sip sip.... If you do that you won't throw up. Most drs recommend not drinking for. 30 minutes before and after you eat. Drinking effects everyone differently. If I drink right after I eat it tends to push the food back up my throat and so I try to avoid it. Others say it feels like the liquid pushed the food through the band more quickly preventing the satisfied feeling you should have for 4/5 hours. You may be different but I would check with your dr.

    Soreness after fill

My dr sews the port into the wall of the abdomen so I would think if it flipped it would be tender... I hope you fell better soon.

    Started Pureed Foods!

I refused to eat baby food....so on mushies I ate mostly hummus, yogurt, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, tuna fish, cottage cheese, carrots mashed, chicken salad and I drank v8 juice as a snack to get in my veggies.....

    Weight limit for surgery

I was. 377lbs with a BMI of 55. I am tall and carried my weight low so evidentially that is why my dr was satisfied with a 2 week liquid diet. In your case what wouldn't you do the diet to become healthier for surgery? It's just that much less weight to lose after being banded. It also is a good lesson in will power... Because once you get banded you are going to need a whole lot of willpower to make it work before you hit the green zone.
  14. I am not aware that burping can hurt the band. It's actually beneficial early to help with the gas release. You are in the healing stage and your Body is recovering from surgery so a small or no loss the first week or so isn't unusual. Hang in there and follow your drs instruction regard liquids and mushies. The weight will come off.

    um, my band is broken...

I disagree. Drinking calories doesn't keep you full. Eating solids will. And I don't know why vegetables are Not on the diet... From the time I was on mushies I ate Protien, veggies and starch... Granted it was hard at first but after about 3 weeks my body got used to that amount of food and even before full restriction it wasn't that hard.

    Day after drinking

Since being banded My drinking will consist of maybe a glass or two of wine so it doesn't effect my eating at all.. You didn't indicate how much you drank or ate after drinking but I would think excessive alcohol would be harmful.
  17. i detest drama so try to remain calm whenever possible. And I pretty much figured I wasn't going to bleed to death although my husband was sure of it...LOL. It's funny it hasn't seeped ssince monday and this morning I woke up and it started again. Ugh...I am getting tired of wearing a maxi pad on my tummy.... I pushed on my tummy and tried to get it to come out like he did. I was sort of successful but i Called the dr and he said its really normal and for me to sleep on my stomach over towels and with the aforementioned maxi pad secure and let it drain out.... He does want to see me on Monday tho...just to check it out. Other than that I am doing well. The scars look amazing.

    Book?

I found all the information I needed for free by searching on the Internet for medical research, asking my dr, reading the info he gave me and reading forums like this one to hear about real time issues. While there may be books out there just remember they will be opinions of the author. You should always consult your dr for more individualized information.

    Before you go to sleep

I try not to eat 2-3 hrs before bed but personally I haven't had the problem of food repeating. You might want to ask your dr if there is a specific reason this might be happening

    Excited, Scared, Confused!

There is nothing wrong with getting help for a problem. People do it all the time for one ailment or another. When I decided to get banded I was at the point of needing and looking for help. Much like I had done many times before but for every successful diet over my lifetime there was a failure of regaining the weight. I wanted off the roller coaster... So I decided to get help in the form of the band. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Who cares how you lose weight as long as you lose it and keep it off. While i believe you have to be pretty strict with yourself during the losing stage, once you reach your goal the band will help you keep the weight off if you listen to it, And I personally think never having to diet again sure beats the alternative.
  23. feeling pretty good actually....thanks for saying nice things
  24. It's my pleasure...I hope I can be of some help to others...
