Don't fall for the 'I swear I'm not eating more than 1200 calories a day and I haven't lost a pound!'. It's an illusion when we don't want to admit we cheat. Oh this little hunk of cheese doesn't count... I am now on my third month and calorie counting based on weight loss goal. I try to eat no more than 1400 calories a day and it's WORKING! I have lost a consistant 2 pounds or more a week!! However my band helps a great deal for willpower. And actually... SO DOES WATER! I just really dont have much room to put in extra food when i'm drinking so much Water. I was a total non-believer but now I'm seeing results! I totally sound like an infomercial don't I? Oh well- just wanted to share!!!

Does pouch shrink?
SapphicBander replied to YngGram's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My ouch stretched (insert sad music). It sucked. My Dr. told me the only way to get it back would be to deflate it with surgery. I saw the pouch test diet and after my last fill followed it pretty well. I now am not able to eat more than a cup at a time unless it is a slider food. So... for me it doesn't seem to be the end of the world. I'm back on track! -

What time do you have your last "meal"??
SapphicBander replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not eat or drink anything past 8pm. I go to bed at 10pm. If I do I wake up choking on my reflux and it just isn't worth losing sleep! And as a diabetic I eat 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day. Or really try to... sometimes 1300 calories just wont fit! -

SapphicBander replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello!! As my user name states, i'm a sapphic bander =fat lesbian. :hi: My wife and I have been together for six years and have one 3yr old son. In 2006 I had lap band surgery and she had gastric bypass. Needless to say she lost all of her weight and I am still struggling. But i'm back on track and looking forward to being fit! I live in the Atlanta, GA area and would love to meet up with other GLBT banders!! -
Did a group get formed? Im new to forum and found this post. I live in Dallas GA

Hi, my name is Season and i'm a fat girl. And I hate my band. Or maybe hated? In May 2006 I was banded with a small fill. At the time there were no instructions, what to expect, etc. I tried to eat beef, broccoli and my favorite veggie Brussel Sprouts. I didn't know they were off limits and neither did my Dr. I was filled and unfilled so many times I can't count. I would vomit in my sleep and the heartburn was unbearable. Finally when I couldn't take it any more I had them remove all but less than 1cc. I had very little restriction. Lost 60lbs during the ups/downs when I couldn't even swallow. During the three years I never went back to my Dr and yo yo'd but ended up re-gaining 40lbs of lost weight. October 2010 I am at 240. I went back to my Dr thinking my band had slipped. During fluoroscopy he found that I had stretched my pouch but band in place. He then gave me a little over 1 cc. to make me at 2cc fill. Today because of this forum I am hopeful. So far I've probably lost about 10lbs and knowing the do's/dont's and what to expect I think I may be successful! ~Never give up~

Banded 2006-I hate my band
SapphicBander replied to SapphicBander's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your new band! I really poured over this site learning what was normal, what wasn't. The food forum is a good place to start. Get to know your "do not eat" foods. For my area the support groups consist of bypass folks. SO not the same. But if you can find one, that would be perfect! -
Back to 240lbs. I've had a LOT of band issues. New fill 10/10 and i'm hopeful this time. Sept 2010

Hey Chuck! I totally had to look up anterior prolapse, lol. And if you google it make sure you put in Lap Band-wow. LOL! I felt like something was 'wrong'. I had to get on rx antacids because the otc no longer worked for me.
He scheduled me for a fill under x-ray so he could see if I had any slippage. Erosion is harder to detect so he wanted to fill me and monitor for complications before he ordered the next test. At fill he found my pouch has stretched. I can tell you I was more disappointed in myself than worried about any other complications. Im at 2cc's now and finally for the first time ever hit my sweet spot.
My complications- Port flip and lack of education. I had no idea what to expect, how this was going to feel and what I could not eat. Now I think the Dr and myself are much more informed.
What makes you feel like you have issues? What are your symptoms? While 95lbs is awesome if you can't eat for the rest of your life that's a problem .

How much protein do you eat daily?
SapphicBander replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of people that have had surgery use the Special K Protein packs for thier Water. I think it has 10g. I'm going to start as soon as I can FIND IT! lol But you can google it and it will show you which stores carry it or you can order online. -
Port has flipped...surgery Friday
SapphicBander replied to samndaisy64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! My port flipped as well. Mine was found at my first fill and they had me in surgery quickly. And my port is now a little... off. They have to adjust me under x-ray which is just fine with me. Absolutely tell your Doc everything you are feeling! Better to be on the safe side! Good luck on your surgery!! -
Been 2 years, need to get back into it all :(
SapphicBander replied to BillyTheBear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been there! I waited 3 years before going back. My biggest challenge in making the appointment was embarassment and fear of failure. I made an office visit and the first thing he said was "Welcome Back"! No judgement. Relief. I never reached a sweet spot either and gave up because of complications. I'm now two weeks after my "first" fill and think I may have it this time ! I'm losing weight and not so angry about not getting to eat what I want. I am NEVER hungry. And this is a FIRST! I love this. So, you CAN do this! Like someone here said to me, no other procedure gives you a second chance -

Renewed my band vows-Love It! And very true, no other procedure can get a second chance like this. I'm really really positive and it's truly all because of this website! I'm coming back really informed and excited. It's been two weeks today and i've lost at least 10lbs!! Thank you all for the well wishes! -

I think a slider is different for everyone really. Some call cottage cheese a slider and I eat 1/4 cup and i'm DONE. Don't cheat yourself. Try a little bit? Just portion it out and walk away
