Congratulations! I am so very happy for you!

I got my first tattoo when I was in my 40's. Do you see a pattern here? It's a Celtic cross with a rose and it's above my ankle. I have my next design picked out and I really want it on the inside of my wrist but I'm struggling with having a visible tattoo. I think I'll go ahead and get it done for my 50th birthday this summer. I think it's a great way to reward yourself especially because they are so personal.

Tracy, What happened? You and I have the same Doctor but I haven't been to the support group meeting in quite awhile. I know there have been several office personnel changes and I'm aware of the new location but I'm concerned because you have always seemed so happy with him. Please PM me and let me know what's going on. Thanks. Sharon

Sassy, In a short time you will be offering to pay $1000 to STOP breaking wind!! Believe me, I know of what I speak! My gas was so bad for so long I thought it would never stop. And even a year later, even though it is much better, I have much more gas than I ever did my entire life. Be patient, it will come (with a vengence). Ambrosia

I started massage therapy school 5 weeks ago and I'm lovin' it! Except for anatomy! Any secrets or tips for getting through this class? I have Anatomy and Physiology I, II, and III through next April and I think I'm going to die! We have our first anatomy exam tonight and I'm a nervous wreck. At my age (49) I don't seem to retain the information as well as I did when I was younger. But, my practicals and labs are going very well. I'm retaining everything that I put my hands on, so to speak. I have the flash cards and coloring books and they help but this subject matter is just so complex. Anyone else share my pain?

drinking with food - cereal loophole??
Ambrosia replied to soniacan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have no problem at all eating cereal with skim milk. I can't eat it in the morning however but I usually have it for dinner 2 - 3 times a week. For some reason, the food/liquid combination with cereal doesn't bother me. I love the multigrain cheerios. Yum! -
Excellent idea! I have the very same problem. My bites are small but I'm still shoveling it in and then, of course, get very uncomfortable within just a few minutes. I'm going to try this. Thanks.

I haven't had any negative comments but a funny situation presented itself last week. I am attending massage therapy school and last week we learned abdomen massage. Since the students work on each other I thought I had better tell the student working on me that she might feel a strange object in my stomach. My port, although not visible, is very easy to feel. Well, when the other students heard that they all came running over to feel my port. There I am, laying on the table with my stomach exposed and 8 students rubbing it. It was pretty funny.

Living the Dream, I'm afraid I can't answer your question but wanted to send you good wishes. I was self pay and although I haven't had any complications, my doctor is here in town so it isn't an issue. All I can tell you is it was the best decision I've ever made and would do it again in a heartbeat. Good luck with your decision.

What a great idea for a reward! 30 more pounds and I may look into this also.

I have no problem eating grapes or any other kind of fruit.

I never dreamed I would ever be able to wear dresses and skirts again but now I can! I haven't bought pantyhose in so long I don't even know what the best brands are. Anyone have a favorite brand? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I wish I could go without hose but being overweight for so long has reeked havoc on my legs. Vericose veins, spider veins, etc. So, they need to be covered up. Thanks again.

I started losing hair around the 4 month mark and it was really coming out for about 2 months. I have just noticed this week that I'm losing less hair so maybe it's starting to slow down.

Too funny, Mark!

I had them also and had no problems whatsoever. They actually felt good.

OMG! I know exactly how you feel!! I love football and watch it every Sunday during season and would get so crazy knowing I weighed more than alot of the players! Not so much now. -
Do you have more energy now that you have lost weight?
Ambrosia replied to madfroglady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Six months post-op and I have felt completely wiped out for the past two months. I'm not exercising consistently enough to sustain my energy levels. I really need to work on that. I started a new job this week with a very regular schedule so I'm hoping to jump start my exercise program again. -
What's the last thing you said to your surgeon just before your LB procedure?!
Ambrosia replied to UN5-3051's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was out before I even got into the OR. In recovery, the nurse told me I told her all about the cruise I took in October and I also told her my sister is crazy. I don't remember one word of it! -
Banded 2/15 and have lost 45 pounds. I had 6 weeks where I kept gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. Then finally this week I dropped 2 pounds and feel like I'm back on track.

Another Malley patient here. Love him. Very good experience with him and his staff both pre and post op. I was self-pay and I paid 17,500. Would highly recommend him.

For those of us who weigh in daily!!
Ambrosia replied to ragdollx19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Guilty! I'm trying very hard to kick this habit but just can't seem to not weigh myself daily. I've even put my scale away only to drag it back out again. But, it works for me and I don't think there's any harm to it. -
Mine has been exactly the opposite. Pre-banding I had irregular periods with horrible cramps. Post-banded my periods are fairly regular and the pain is manageable. Go figure!

Eggs for breakfast and an occasional beer?
Ambrosia replied to big chris's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chris, I'm one of the ones that can no longer tolerate eggs after being banded. I love eggs and couldn't imagine scrambled eggs not going down, but they don't, and believe me, I have tried several times! I haven't even attempted beer. I didn't drink it much before banding so it's not a great loss to me. But, man I miss my eggs!! -
Here's one I try to live by--- There are 3 things we are always accountable for: our actions, our attitudes and our choices.
