Welcome, Annette. I'm not banded and have just started this journey myself but I want to wish you the best. The information on these boards is priceless so read everything you can. Sharon

Thanks everyone, this info helps. Isn't it funny that I'm more nervous about the pysch exam than I am the actual surgery?! I've never had either so I don't know why I'm nervous but I am. Marjon9, I couldn't agree more. That's exactly how I feel. I have thought long and hard how about the numerous situations I will be faced with and how I will handle them. My life revolves around food and I am actually looking forward to start having my life revolve around anything else but food. Thanks again. Sharon

Thanks. In our seminar, the doctor did say everyone does lab work and then chest x-rays and EKG's are dependent upon your age and/or health history. I guess I'll find out more when I meet with him on Tuesday. Thanks again, Sharon

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
Ambrosia replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was able to cross my legs in 1994 when I was a size 16. Not Women's size 16 but Misses size 16. I had moved to Boston and literally walked everywhere. This native Midwestern was too afraid to ride the subways. 30 pounds just fell off of me within 3 months time. I was sitting in a staff meeting and just happened to cross my legs and almost fell out of my chair with sheer excitement. Then, of course, I discovered all the neighborhood pizza shops and bakeries and PUBS! Hence, I'm pursuing the lapband. My goals - to be able to cross my legs again, to wear sleeveless shirts, to be able to tuck in my blouses and to no longer wear queen size panty hose. Sharon -
PRBrooksie, How long after you were banded did you go bowling? I'm hoping to be banded in February by Dr. Malley and I bowl on a league. I'm assuming I won't be able to bowl for a few weeks. Sharon

What a great guy you are! That's refreshing especially considering some of the negative reaction and lack of support received by some people's so-called loved ones. Hang in there with her and read these boards. More information than you can imagine. Sharon

First Consult is Tomorrow!
Ambrosia replied to TracyinKS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tracy, It sounds like things are really moving along for you. My consultation is next Tuesday. I can hardly wait. Since I will be self-pay, I don't think I will have to undergo anything further so I'm hoping to be banded in February. The longer I read all these posts the more excited I am to start this journey. Hope the eval goes well. Keep us posted. Sharon -
First Consult is Tomorrow!
Ambrosia replied to TracyinKS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tracy, What did you think of the seminar on Saturday? I think I saw you sitting up front but I wasn't sure if that was you. I was pretty far in the back of the room. At first, Dr. Malley seemed kind of droll, like he wasn't thrilled to be there. But then his sense of humor started coming through and I warmed up to him a little more. I have a consultation later this month so I'm hoping to find out a little more. I will be a self-pay and he said that self-pays could be scheduled 2 - 3 weeks after the consultation so I need to make a decision soon. I pray I make the right decision and I hope you do too. Tracy, I read that you are attending the seminar this Saturday. Are you attending Dr. Malley's seminar at the Holiday Inn Mission? If so, I will also be attending the 10:00 seminar. I've been reading these boards for a few months now and have written down the names of some local members so if I ever decide to do this, I can contact this group of people to get more detailed info on how they are doing since surgery. Maybe I'll see you there. Sharon

Hi Everyone I've been lurking for some time now
Ambrosia replied to InTheBreeze13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Sean. You're getting banded the day I go in for my consultation. I, too, have lurked on this board for quite awhile and the education has been priceless. As I write this, it just turned midnight and fireworks are going off like crazy for the new year. I just moved to this neighborhood this spring and it seems my new neighbors aren't as heavily armed as the neighbors in my old neighborhood! Wonder why I moved?! Anyway, good luck on your journey and keep us posted on your success. Sharon
