  1. Hi all, I'm now six days post op and have managed to drop 28 lbs (including 10 days of my doctors prescribed pre-op diet). Other than this annoying as hell pain in my left shoulder I'm doing pretty well physically and was back to work Monday. My question is in regards to soft foods. I don't know why but I'm having an extremely difficult time understanding what constitutes "soft food". I was hoping some of you all could give me some examples of some of the soft foods you ate. I'll be moving to the soft food stage on my third week (per my physicians instructions) and want to be prepared. Also any suggestions on portable soft foods that I can take while traveling would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
  2. Well, my big day is tomorrow morning at 8:30am. I'm starting to feel a little nervous anxiety for the first time.
  3. Now how cool is that:thumbup:! Thanks for the info icequeen. I look forward to meeting you also.
  4. I don't know if anybody can give me any feedback on this based on their experience but I figured I would ask. I'm getting banded on Nov. 4th of next week. On Nov. 21st I'll be leaving for two weeks of hunting in Canada and Kansas. It will be virtually impossible for me to have mushy or pureed foods for those two weeks and I'm really freaked out I will not be able to hold solid foods down. My doctor doesn't seem concerned about it but I remain leery. I feel confident that I will be able to control my food intake while on this trip as I will be pretty well occupied and active with the hunts. My concern is with eating solid foods before the requisite three weeks of liquids and mushy's. Were any of you able to move to solid foods sixteen or seventeen days after your surgery? Any complications or problems? Thanks in advance for any advice/feedback.
  5. Thank you all for the reply's. I should clarify that there will not be any real strenuous activity involved in these trips. It basically consists of sitting in hunting blinds for several hours a day. Jack, after reading your reply I think I might be able to come up with a plan of bringing my own soft/liquid foods for the trip. Another option would be to have my girlfriend send some pre-prepared puree's/mushy's to my destinations ahead of my arrival.
  6. My surgery is set for next Thursday, Nov. 4th. I've been on the Opti-Fast diet as directed by my doctor since last Wednesday and it's been a killer. I have managed to drop 13 lbs. since I started the process so that's been encouraging. I'm ready to do this thing, but I am starting to get a little nervous about the procedure. In the end I feel it will be well worth it though. I want my active lifestyle back.
