I was 18. 5 stone and didn't want to be fat at 50 so I had the lapband fitted in December 2008 and I sailed through the fills and lost weight quite easily then in April this year I went to America a holiday of a lifetime, having said to my surgeon I was going , then disaster I flew in to Sandford Florida and was feeling unwell as we got off the plane but I just thought it was the flight , I was throwing up all the way to the villa about an Hour away from the airport, and not having eaten anything I was feelin really bad as you can imagine.  I went to bed as soon as we got to the villa, and so it went on.One day I would be OK ish as long as I didnt have any solids just soup and Macky Ds Frappe's and the next I would be feeling really bad and throwing up,2 weeks later I had to go to the emergency room at the Florida Hospital and 13,000 dollars later my lap band was completley defilled and told to have liquids only for the rest of my stay.Guess what when on my return to England my surgeon didn't know that apparentley you have to be defilled before flying as the pressure can affect your band and now I have been having problems ever since ie I have had really bad Acid reflux and pain and belching wind .Havin said that I have lost 5.5 stones and would go through it all again.
