Does anyone else have a problem with them digging you in the arm pits? I like the ones made with spandex, but I swear, even if I let the straps out, they still dig me in the arm pits. I don't know what to do about this!

Oh you are really young for all of this! Poor girl! I was 50 when it all started. Glad they are running tests. I wonder if they use compounding pharmacies where you live. That way, they can make the hormones just for your body according to your needs, not just a general prescription. It's tailored just for your body.

I started exercising right away and do a lot of stuff with weight machines at the gym. My thighs have muscle in them that I never had when I was younger. I do have some flabby skin because I am 59, but I think it would be 100% worse if I had not starting using the weight machines. I was using them before surgery, and started back pretty quickly after surgery.

I have never heard of Original Panko bread crumbs. Is this a brand? Or a flavor? Sounds like a great recipe if I knew what to roll the chicken in! thanks!

Trying To Learn Everything I Can...
Oregondaisy replied to vanb0052's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are many reasons that the Sleeve is better than the bypass in my opinion. I would not want to have my intestines rerouted and have to be diligent with taking all sorts of Vitamins and supplements for the rest of my life. I know people who have had the RNY and have to have Iron infusions regularly. Also, the gastric bypass pouch is very stretchable and weight regain has very high statistics. The sleeved stomach is made from the non stretchy muscular part of the stomach and stretches a little, but not nearly as much as the pouch left after an RNY. Also, when you have the RNY, you can never take any type of anti inflamatories such as Ibuprofen. The sleeved stomach is a normal stomach, just smaller. Weight loss is just about the same with both surgeries. If you do a search up above in the right hand corner in the search menu, you'll find many explanations about this. Hope this helps some! -
some people say they were told not to use straws. When I was sleeved, my stuff came with straws. I use a straw all the time, and I know I drink more when I use a straw. I've heard the PH of Water does not agree with our new tiny tummies . You may have to experiment with bottled water and see if one agrees with you more.

Rating protein powders
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Isopure and the Syntrex Nectar products are more of a thin, fruit or tea. You should go to the food forum and look for the place to get samples. The sample pack of the Nectar products are good. Roadside lemonade, I think there's a peach tea, twisted cherry, etc. You can buy isopure at GNC or places like that. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's just hard. My bf eats ice cream every night. Now that he's here all the time, there are foods in the house that were never here before. I DON'T want to gain weight back, but it's really hard. I have to really watch everything I eat very carefully. It would be really easy to gain about 20 , I bet, if I didn't watch that scale every morning. -
How much protein can you absorb at one time?
Oregondaisy replied to Elixaveth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Collagen is made from boiled cow hide. I don't think it could possibly be a good source of protein. I learned early that protein shots are not only a waste of money, they aren't good for anyone. -
How much protein can you absorb at one time?
Oregondaisy replied to Elixaveth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh that's really good to know. My kidney tests have been a little haywire but I really do follow the 25 gram per meal . sometimes in the morning I think I go a little over because my protein shake is 25 grams and I feel like I need more on the way to the gym. -

Warning<< Gastric Sleeve Surgery Failure Dr Rod
Oregondaisy replied to kacee109's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You will not find any unhappy patients of Dr. Aceves in Mexico. Everyone agrees that the care they received in the hospital there was better than the care they have had in hospitals in the US. I am sorry you had a bad experience with this doctor in Mexico. That does not mean that there are not excellent surgeons practicing out of excellent hospitals in Mexico. -
The reason you are on liquids is to protect the staple line. they just removed 85% of your stomach so there is a long staple line that needs you need to guard. Risking a leak is just not worth it.

Go to the food forum and order some samples. That way you can try a lot of things. A lot of people do like the Nectar products. You can get samples of all of their flavors in a variety pack for not much money.

Dumping Syndrome w/ VSG?
Oregondaisy replied to alexer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I wish it still happened to me. I stay away from sugar because it makes me gain weight immediately, but it doesn't make me sick anymore if I do let myself have it. -

Hydration Lacking- Need Tips!
Oregondaisy replied to TiffanyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you prefer it cold, you're just going to have to freeze some Water in the bottom of a bottle. It will get easier to drink. Just try to take frequent sips even if you can't drink much at once. -
Constipation From High Protein Diet?
Oregondaisy replied to TiffanyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get some miralax. It used to be a prescription and my mom's doctor told her to use it every day, so I know it's okay to use every day. If I miss a day, I am not happy! -
Help, Need To Find A Unflavored Protein Powder With No After Taste!
Oregondaisy replied to Lauraann's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I used the GNC brand of unflavored. If I put it in something strong tasting like crystal lite, it wasn't bad. -
I Will Ask Lots Of Questions (sorry To Be A Pest)
Oregondaisy replied to jillbeme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Grazing can definitely be a problem. It's easy to lose weight with the sleeve in the beginning. You can barely eat a few bites. As time goes on, and you're past the post op phase, junk food goes down very easily. If you like chips and want to graze on chips all day, you'll be able to do just that. Have a cookie now, have a cookie later, have another cookie later on, no problem. As far as living with the sleeve and the band, it's like night and day. With the sleeve, you can eat anything you want, in small portions. Read the band to sleeve revision forum. Cheri's post is excellent. If you want to eat around the sleeve, you'll gain weight back plain and simple. You'll need to evaluate how badly you want to lose the weight and keep it off. -
It still happens to me occasionally and I am past 2 1/2 years. If I eat one bite too much, (there is no other way to describe this, ) my mouth fills up with saliva, (only a little thicker) I have to keep spitting it out. My mouth keeps filling up with this, until it's over. It can last quite awhile. If you're in the car, and there is nowhere to spit, ( like after eating out) it can be a real problem. Luckily, I learned early out how to avoid this at all cost. I am sure it will happen to ever sleever at one point.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that I am at 2 1/2 years post op, I can say that it's getting harder to not gain . I can easily gain 5 lbs in a couple of days of socializing and if I am not very careful and take it right off, I can easily see how it would get out of hand. I am really lucky that I do love exercising and don't mind making it a priority in my life. -
If you go to the food forum, there is a thread called something like "rate your Protein drinks" Tiffy found one that is not particularly sweet. (I don't remember the name of it) Muscle Milk is pretty sweet. I don't think there is an unsweetened Protein Drink. I am not sure if the GNC unflavored that I got for right after surgery is sweetened or not. If you have a Vitamin Shoppe or GNC you can usually get samples or take back what you don't like.

I Need A Little Encouragement... Words Of Wisdom My Gastric Sleeve Friends?
Oregondaisy replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad you're going in to see the doc. I hope he/she can get your hormones leveled out. I am a different person. It's really important to find the right level. Ask for bioidentical hormones. They are what's the most natural to our bodies.
