    Were Your Eyes Wide Open?

yes for the most part, life is pretty normal these days. I can still eat plenty of junk food if that's what I choose to do. Of course, I know I will gain weight back when I do that. There are some differences. When I was first sleeved, anything with sugar made me very nauseous. I wish that was still true. I can guzzle Water, but not if it's really cold. I really prefer room temp water.

    Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet

Dr. Aceves does 10 days of clear liquids, 10 days of full liquids, then 10 days of mushie foods. Solids after that as tolerated but I can't remember how long it was before I was supposed to eat nuts or fresh veggies. I think it was 3 months?

    The Sleeve "switch"

I am almost 3 years out now and it goes in spurts for me. There are days when i want to eat all day and it's hard for me to not snack all day. There are other days that I don't even think about eating and hardly eat at all.
  4. Have you tried Isopure? A lot of people don't like it but you could mix it with crystal lite or gatoraide. It's very high in Protein and isn't milky like other Protein drinks, it's more of a Kool-aide consistency. Glad to hear your're keeping things down now. Egg drop Soup has quite a bit of protein in it too.

    Mexico Sleevers?!

Everyone I know has their family stay with them in the room. There is more than enough room. I do know some people who were bored in the room and stayed in the hotel during nice weather next to the pool.

Looks Like We Lost Some Data

Yes, Thanks Alex! I know you all work very hard to make this such a great place. :biggrin5:
  7. Rosey, Where did you find the picture you used for your avatar? My bf really likes it and is wondering. thanks!
  8. chicken , beef and pork keep me full much longer than anything that is mushy at all such as ground beef or fish. I will be very curious to hear what you find out in February. I hope your doctor has some good answers for you.
  9. Susan, I am very sorry to hear about your back problems. I have back problems too and it sure can make life difficult. I hope you get some relief soon and you recouperate quickly!
  10. Rosy, from your description of what you ate, it does not sound like too much at all. In fact, it sounds perfect. You're not eating portions that are too big for your sleeve. You asked what would be the difference without the sleeve? for me, I ate tiny portions when I didn't have the sleeve and I exercised my brains out. I would lose 5 lbs and gain it right back. I didn't have the willpower to keep eating small portions. Eventuallly, I " fell off the wagon" and ate half a pizza or a burger and fries. I still exercised all the time though. Now, I can barely eat part of a burger if I remove at least half of the bun. I can only eat one piece of pizza even though I would like to eat more. Sometimes I eat the toppings off a second piece and then I am too full and uncomfortable. You will lose a lot of weight, I am sure of it. I know it's discouraging cause it feels so much like dieting. After awhile though, when the weight starts dropping, and you're used to the portions you are eating, I think you'll be happier that you made this decision.
  11. hey Susan, Which Protein drink did you find that you like? I remember when you were sleeved as you were sleeved right before me, nearly 3 years ago. I remember you were really having problems finding one you liked. I am always interested in finding ones that people like, especiallly when they have tried a bunch and hated most of them. i am lucky that I like most of them. There have been ones that people liked that I found to be very bland, but I didn't hate them the way some people say Protein drinks make them gag.

    Wellbutrin

I wish I could find one that helped me sleep but didn't make me want to eat all the time. Most of those anti depressants make me feel like I stuck my finger in a light socket, or I drank 20 cups of coffee. I have tried Lexapro, Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Effexor, Celexa, Cymalta and Welbutrin. Serzone worked well for me but they took it off the market because it causes liver failure. Now I have problems with my liver. I still can't sleep, and nothing seems to help me. Everyone of those messed with my libido. The one thing that also screws up the libido is birth control pills or even the IUD if it has hormones in it.
  13. Dr Aceves does 10 days of clear liquids, 10 days of full liquids and 10 day of mushy foods. Then it's solids as tolerated. That is where I had problems For me, solids in the form of regular meat filled me up and if I ate more than 3 bites, I was so full I was in pain. It wasn't worth it to me. So I gradually added in solids as I could tolerate them, but it was at least a couple of months after that supplementing, with mushie foods and protein drinks.

    "unmentionables" Nsv!

Thanks! I will look for those on ebay!
  15. I drank about 4-5 shakes a day in the beginning. I had one for each meal, and 2 Snacks. Sometimes I had less than 8oz if I was able to eat a sasisfying mushie meal. Mushies I could eat way easier than solids. I also had Protein tomato Soup which I bought from my surgeon but I found blending up cottage cheese into tomato soup was far less expensive.
  16. You are going to rock your sleeve and get skinny and he's going to be sorry he every talked to you like that! Don't let him get you down. You are going to do the biggest thing you have ever done for yourself, so he better watch out!
  17. I have not heard of any doctor telling his patients that they could not have Protein drinks. It depends on how far out from surgery you are. When I was first sleeved, I had to drink protein drinks for months. I could only eat 3 bites of solids and that was not nearly enough to keep me going. I gradually moved to food and off protein drinks. In the beginning, they are just so necessary if you can't eat much. I still have one for breafast cause I am not a breafast eater. oh and BTW, for some people, acid does not feel like heartburn. To me it felt like a gnawing pain in my stomach. I have tried to go off of my PPI and I just can't do it. My stomach just hurts without it. My dr. said it's because our stomachs still made the same amount of acid as it did before they removed most of it. Most sleeve patients are on a PPI for quite awhile after surgery. Best wishes to you! I hope your hunger goes away and you are soon happy with your sleeve.
  18. Are you any better? If not, you need to get into the dr. to see if you're dehydrated. Dehydration causes nausea. Please let us know how you are doing!

    "unmentionables" Nsv!

I never know which kind to buy. I find the boy cut ones wad up . I have a lot of pairs of panties that I bought that I found uncomfortable. I am not sure how they wear those thongs. Don't those go up your butt? I would like some feedback here on which panties cut/brand ladies don't feel like they are getting a wedgie while wearing, or if they have a tummy, does it feel weird hanging over the top if they wear the hipsters or bikini? Lol, maybe this should be moved to the girl's powder room...

    Regular Sugar

Well sugar has more carbs in it, and carbs will slow down weight loss. Have you been counting your calories? This will not hurt your new stomach in any way, but keep them in your daily calorie and carb count.

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!

Have you found out what a fistula is? The complication rate with VSG is only supposed to be 1 %. I am so very sorry you have all had to go through this and I wish nobody would ever have complications. !! I pray that all of you are healed and will be living a normal life very soon.

Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Protein?

I just had labs drawn and my kidney levels were all screwed up . My nutritionist says how much protein you need goes by our height.

    Facelift Done In Cr

It's been 8 months since I had my face lift. Everyone tells me I look great, but I am very disappointed that my face is still numb. I am afraid it will not go away. I was miserable the first 7-10 days after gall bladder surgery. It was a much harder recovery than sleeve surgery.

    Suggestions For "sleeve Friendly" Crackers?

Kellogs Multigrain Allbran crackers are really good and they have much needed fiber in them . I think they are very yummy. I love to spread laughing cow cheese on them.
