    Is It True?

You're welcome. I'm glad this helped. Eating slow is definitely a learing process!!
  2. There is really no comparison between the band and the sleeve. With the sleeve, you eat like a normal person. You eat anything you want, in small portions. Living with the band was a nightmare. Living with the sleeve is like living a normal life as a thin person!

    Is It True?

Okay, well I am sure you have been told this, but maybe others have not. The sleeved stomach is made from the most muscular part of the stomach- the least stretchiest part. The part of the stomach that is removed is the stretchiest part of the stomach. You're doing the right thing by measuring your food. In the beginning, if you eat until you're full at the table, you'll be in trouble in about a half an hour. It really is true that it takes our stomachs 20 min for our brain to tell us that it's full. That's why it's important to measure food in the beginning. It takes awhile to learn the right amount without measuring. I remember one time, I kept eating fish because it was so good. I ate until I felt full. After I was all done eating and I had left the table about 20 min later, I was so full I was afraid I was going to busrt my sleeve. It was painful. So to answer your question, yes, it does stretch out a normal amount with eating over time. You really don't have to worry about stretching it due to over eating. If you over ate that much, you'd be in a lot of pain. Plus you would get the slimes and probably throw up. That's one other thing. If you over eat, it's going to come back up before it will stretch the sleeve. You're still very new. You'll be able to eat more at 6 months than you can now, and you'll be able to eat more than that at one year. I am almost 3 years now, and I can only eat slightly more now than I could at i year. Feel free to ask anything if this does not answer what you were wondering!!

    8 Weeks Out - Progression

Everyone goes through stalls. I never lost weight every week. You're doing great. You're going to be at your goal in no time!!
  5. You didn't say what you like to eat. There's a lot of foods you can eat at 10months out that's high in Protein. cottage cheese, Greek Yogurt, egg tuna or chicken salad, refried Beans and cheese are all really easy to eat. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Premier Protein drinks from costco. There's 18 of them in the box though but if you save receipt, Costco will take it back. Also, the Vitamin shoppe sells Pro pudding by Body tech. It comes in choc and vanilla and it's 25 grams of protein and it's yummy pudding for only 145 calories and 4 carbs.

    Is It True?

Stretch it out compared to what? Yes, it does stretch over time. But it stretches as much as it's going to, and then it can't stretch anymore. At one point, I could only eat about 4 bites of steack. Now I can eat a piece about the size of my palm, which is the same amount I could eat at about one year out.

    Favorite Blender?

Isn't the magic bullet like $40-50? My dad gave me one and I gave it away. That little $19 Hamilton Beach takes up less room and was the best money I've ever spent.

    Favorite Blender?

I have a Hamilton Beach mini blender that i got at Walmart for $19. I have been using it for 5 years. It crushes ice and does everything a regular blender does. I love it and I use it ever day. It's still going strong! That's much cheaper than a magic bullet.

    Lean Dessert Protein Giveaway!

I just use Torrini or Davinci coconut syrup in the chocolate,. I have bought the coconut before but this is just as good and I have way too many containers around the kitchen and not enough storage! You're right though, it's delcious.!
  10. Are you able to drink Protein drinks? Many people just don't like them. I love them. I would think if you supplemented with Protein Drinks, you would be able to get enough protein and calories through out your pregnancy. Make sure to take your Calcium and Vitamin supplements. The baby will take what it needs from your body. You will still be able to lose weight after the baby comes, especially if you breast feed. Congratulations!

    Lean Dessert Protein Giveaway!

I use the crushed ice that is on the door of my fridge. I use half the amount of water and add the crushed ice and blend in my mini blender. It gets really thick like a smoothie or a milkshake. Yum yum! I also like to mix the banana pudding and the choc. pudding together

Went For A Bra Fitting - Pampered Myself

This is so sad for me. I was never very big. When I was fat I was about a 42C. I went for a bra fitting at Victoria Secret. There is no Somas here. I live in the middle of nowhere and in fact, had to go to Victoria Secret 100 miles away. Anyway, they didn't have a bra to fit me . Since losing weight, I have completely lost my boobs. I tried on several A cups but they were all too big. For some reason, I am smaller than I was in H. S. when I weighed less than this. I've gained a little weight back but not in my boobs! Baahhh!

    Sweet Potatoes?

Sweet potatoes or yams are great during the mushie phase. We can't consume very many calories in the beginning anyway so the few bites you can get in at that time are a pretty yummy treat.

    Questions For Veterans

Oh good grief! That whole blog is ridiculous. I do have problems with anemia, and I know a lot of other sleevers do too. I take Iron and that takes care of it. It's the people who had RNY (gastric bypass) who have so much trouble with anemia because they don't absorb the iron when they take it, and have to have iron infusions. I hope that lady is able to keep her weight off with diet and exericise. Studies show the chances of that are pretty slim though. yes, I do have to watch what I eat so I don't gain the weight back. I still can't eat huge portions, so as long as I don't eat a ton of junk food, it's not anything like before I was sleeved when I would lose 2 lbs every week and gain it back every weekend. I'll be 3 years out in April and I stil love my sleeve.I don't see how that could ever possibly change.
  15. For those of you looking for the Protein shake recipes, there is a huge list of recipes in the food forum under protien shakes. I am not sure if these are the same recipes, but it's a very big list of good Protein Shake recipes. You need to keep remembering that soon you will be hauling off all your clothes that are too big and watching the scale go down. Think about all the things that you mentioned that you like to do and that it won't be long until you'll be able to do those things again. I have no doubt that you're going to be successful because you already have good eating habits and seem to like to exercise. This first month is difficult, but it's not going to be long before you can eat whatever you want, in small portions You're going to be very happy that you are sleeved and have changed your life!

    Where are the 50s ???

Glad to see this 50's thread moving again. I wonder if I will have to leave in Oct when I turn 60, lol. Having the sleeve has certainly changed my life. I have a wonderful boyfriend that I know I would not have if I were still reallly fat. Life is pretty normal now. I worry about regain and I have to reallly watch what I eat because it's just way too easy to eat junk now and gain weight back.

    High Protein Snacks

There are a lot of people who really rely on jerky for Snacks. It's pretty salty, but other than that, it's a great snack. I snack on almonds, string cheese, and greek yogurt., I also love Oh Yeah peanut butter/choc Protein bars. They are like a kit kat. I only eat one stick at a time. People like to snack on hard boiled eggs, but I hate eggs.
  18. There is a thread called "I have a leak in my gastric sleeve" I think there are 3 people in that thread with leaks. I am only telling you this because it seemed like you wanted to read other people's stories who had also complications. What does SMH stand for? I am reallly sorry you're going through this. I had surgery on a Wed and went back to work on Monday . I could not even tell I had surgery. I have felt completely normal since the day I had surgery. I wish that you were like the 98-99% of us who had no complications and love their sleeve.
  19. Yes, it's the stretchy part of the stomach that is removed. That does not mean it does not stretch at all. I can eat quite a bit more now at almost 3 years than I could at 1 year. You still have to make good choices. And as Mini Me said, there is little restriction with junk food. You can eat way more Cookies than you can meat. That is not true in the very beginning, but as time goes on, you have to be cautious and hopefully have made new eating habits by the time that happens.

Ever Wonder Why Life Is So Hard

Will she consider going to counseling with you? It sounds like the two of you could use some profesional help. It could make a world of difference. Hope that she will go. She should try to do everything in her power for your son's sake to see if there is any chance at all that things can be worked out. Good Luck! You will make it through this!
  21. Yes, please keep these coming! Aren't there websites you can go to where they have bunches of coupons? I am not at all good about using coupones, mainly because my sunday paper hardly has any coupons in it. I need to get my printer going again. It got disconnected when I moved. It sounds like most of the good coupons have to be printed, rather than clipped out of the paper. Do you use coupons for food as well as Vitamins and Protein powders? Everything is so expensive these days, I have to find some ways to save some money!!!
  22. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but there is one thing I am curious about. Dr. Aceves keeps his patients on liquids for 3 weeks. He said eating before 3 weeks puts too much pressure on the new tummy and can cause a leak. I know all doctors have different post op diets. How long were you posst op before you started eating rather than only drinking? I hope the new medication is helping you feel better !
  23. Sure you can post them on your blog. I can't take any credit for these recipes. I found them online.
  24. You're welcome! I can't take credit for these recipes though. I haven't even tried very many of them. The most I do is add the sf syrups to my shakes. I do really like using OJ. they have a lower sugar OJ out these days. It tastes like an orange julius if you make it with ice and blend it up. I am pretty much stuck on Gaspari Myofusion peanut butter/chco for the most part though.
