How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so glad I can finally come back in here! I kept getting a stupid error code. I could see that people had posted and it was so frustrating. Sheryl, go and get that stone blasted! It's easy as pie and no more pain! I was constipated like crazy today and had to go and get a fleets enema. You don't want to stay bloated, in pain and constipated! Happy Mothering day Cathy. What sweet boys you have! I am lucky if my son calls me on Mother's day. Coops I hope you find a different job that makes you happy! I am sorry you're not feeling well. It sounds like you have chronic fatigue syndrome. I wonder if there is a test for that. I am visiting my son and family. His wife is expecting another girl in a few weeks. I thought since I'd be up here a lot it would be nice to make a male friend. I guess I need to look at profiles that say they want to date and not get serious. I went out with a guy tonight and I had a great time. We went dancing and he's a wonderful dancer and a great teacher. All of a sudden, he started acting sort of angry and I asked what was the matter. He said I was wasting his time because I had no plans to sell my house and move to Portland. I made a thread about my experience looking for a new friend here if anyone else wants to read it. It's in the Singles forum called the disappearing act. On a happier note, I got a message from a guy who wants to meet me on my drive home, and one who will be in my town next week and is thinking of back moving there. -
How did he disappear in the middle of a conversation? Were you texting, emailing, or doing some sort of live chat? I am trying to figure out the best way to go about this. I normally give my land line if I have to talk to them on the phone. I hate giving out my cell phone number.

I guess I didn't force them to write. I just sent a note saying "if you have changed your mind about getting together this weekend, could you at least write back and let me know" I wanted to put "be a man" I also realize there are people on the net and in life with shabby manners. For the most part, I do take it with a grain of salt. I know dating is really frustrating.

I love that show catfish. I've watched them all. The new season has just started. Are you sure it's Netflix that you watched it on? I've never seen it there. I need to get my Amazon prime going. I have it but I've never signed in to it on the tv. One of them that I forced to write back said he said he decided his life is too complicated right now to meet anyone new. The other one said circumstances in his life had changed. whatever. I am excited to meet the one I am going to meet tonight. He loves to dance and knows how to do the dances I know. I'm trying to find guys here in Portland who want to date, but not necessarily looking for a long term relationship. I couldn't have a long distance relationship, but I come up here enough to get together with someone to go dancing with. Now that summer is coming, I will be coming up more. Someone else wrote to me last night who lives close to Portland on my way home. I was brave an un hid my profile.

I go to the bars all the time. I go for the same reason CG jane does. I like to dance. A bunch of my friends go and we meet there. I live in a small town so there are 3 places that have live music. We decide which band we like and take it from there. Sometimes we go to all 3 . If you want to meet women, CGJane is right. Take dance lessons. There are so many dances you can learn. Usually, they make you switch partners while you're learning. A lot of the places where the lessons are held, also hold dances. It's a great way to meet people. Women love men who know how to dance!

BariatricPal Site and App Update
Oregondaisy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I refuse to put the app on my phone. I spend plenty of time on my laptop so I don't need to use my phone for much besides a phone. I'd love to see the chat window somewhere visible on the app or any version so people know there is a chat room. It would also be nice if we were able to live chat privately like we used to be able to do. -
Just google intermittent fasting. There is a lot of stuff online about it. I've had really good success with it and I didn't read a thing. It's just what CG Jane said. I do Mondays and Thursdays where I try to eat as little as possible. Raw veggies, anything low carb is good. I never seem to get as low as 500, more like 700 calories. My problem of course are weekends. I can easily undo what I've lost during the week just by socializing on the weekends and thinking a bite of this or that is not going to matter. I have to stick with 3 small meals and 2 even smaller Snacks. The other thing is not to not eat at night, and postpone eating as long as possible so you have at least 12 hours with no food.

The second most painful experience of my life..omg...this was bad
Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so sorry you're still going through this! I only went through it for a couple of days before I begged to have him go ahead with the lithotripsy. Apparently, it had been there for years before it decided to move. I pray the one in my other kidney does not move because it's huge. I'm having my kidney ultasound this week. -

If you're really constipated, Miralax is not going to help what is right there and needs to come out. It will help down the road with what you're eating and drinking. Go and get a fleets enema. Make sure you're drinking a lot of Water every single day. -

No, you don't want to cut back on your calcium. It's really important for your bones. There is a whole list of foods they say you should not eat if you are prone to kidney stones. -
Would you use the chat room if you knew where it was?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in The Lounge
I forgot that a lot of people are posting on the board from their phones or tablets. It's so much easier on a computer or lap top because you can just minimize it and open another window to do what you normally do, like read the board. I think that most people that post and read the board don't even know there is a chat room.. -

I'm anxious to hear what your urologist said. I have a huge kidney stone in my right kidney. Next week they are doing an ultra sound on my kidney and liver. I get an x ray once a year to see if it's moving or getting any bigger. I've already had what you have and had the procedure where they blasted my left kidney to break up the huge stone so I could pass it. My urologist said it's so important to keep the Water up so I don't form more. Kidney stones are horrible and I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope they blast it soon so you don't have to deal with the pain! -

I'm doing a bunch of meet and greets too. I'm talking to 4 different guys. I've had to write notes so I don't screw up what they tell me. The one today lives 80 miles away and comes here to play indoor tennis every tues. he's big into fishing. He's from Santa Cruz CA where my ex is from. I'm excited to meet David who lives in Portland and likes to dance. He knows how to swing and do the Hustle , both of which are really fun dances. I'll meet him when I go there for my DIL's birthday in a couple weeks. I just wish I could meet someone close by so I could try for a real relationship. In the meantime, I'm pretty much starving myself and working out. I'm hoping to be under 145 tomorrow. I always take echinacea when I feel crumby. It seems to help. Also have your blood levels checked. Low B12 or Iron makes you really tired. Coops, I hope this virus goes away and you start to feel like your old self.I remember once when I was really sick and could not get over it, they took a sputum culture and it was type B flu. It turned out I needed a different antibiotic. Sheryl, I wish I had some words of wisdom to help you feel like your old self too. I've heard of acupuncture helping the healing process. What do I know. -

I'll be 7 years out in April. I do have acid problems and I am having a scope on the 21st. I hope it doesn't show anything weird like my sleeve is the wrong shape. Acid is a big problem for sleeves farther out. Please let us know what you find out from your doctors. You must get to the bottom of why you're having pain. the only pain I've had is when I needed my gallbladder out. -

I have heard that Quinoa is really good and good for you. I am not sure what to do with it though. I guess I should google recipes with it. Chia seeds are weird. I soak mine until they get all plumped up and put them in yogurt. I should throw some in my smoothies too.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I hate to say it, but it's nice to have some company with this situation. When I first started gaining, I was alone. We can fight better together! -

Georgia, I didn't realize we were so close in age. I always feel like the old lady in here. I did well fasting today. I hope to see 145 tomorrow again. I did well Sat. when we had a ton of junk here for my DIL's baby shower. My back has been hurting more. I wish I could get the x ray in March and not April . This dieting could really be messing up my fusion. I have to do it though. It's too depressing to have half a closet full of clothes I can't wear. And I have no pants to wear. I have an extra dresser in the guest room full of pants I can't wear. -

You need to pm him this exact post to Alex Brecher. The main thing to include is to put the chat button where people can see it. We can arrange a schedule once we get it going. Like CG Jane said, out of sight, out of mind. -

My kids are here for the weekend. My daughter is throwing a shower for my DIL. My son and his wife are expecting another baby girl in April. I wish so much he would be able to have a son, since his dad died when he was 3. They are naming her Aria James. My son wants her to have his name as her middle name, and I think it's cute! My granddaughter brought her girl scout Cookies and I ate the whole box of thin mints over the evening. I just wanted them gone, instead of calling my name for days. I am not going to weigh myself until Monday. I am going to force myself to go to the gym on Sunday. Thank you for the words of encouragement Georgia. It's so scary that gaining is so easy and losing is so hard, even after WLS! Sheryl I'm so sorry to hear your thigh is still giving you so much trouble. Sounds like your attitude is great though. I agree! fitness for 2016 for all of us! -
Over 60 and having the sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to ginnylee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks Kathy! This board is my home. I will never leave. There are interesting people here, and I still need support. Being single at 63 and not wanting to spend my life alone, it's nice to be able to come here and read what everyone else is going through, now that they have lost the weight. I like the new where venus and mars collide forum. there are many of us trying to date at this age. It's depressing. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I definitely need to exercise. I wonder how long I can keep this up. I am 63. I put some back on and I could not take it off no matter what I did. Now that I am back to the gym, the scale is starting to move down a little. It's depressing that this battle is one I will be fighting the rest of my life.
