You absolutely need to have a leak test. As far as vitimins go, you should take a sublingual Vitamin b 12 and Calcium citrate not calicum carbonate, in addition to a good multi vitaimin. I get calcium chocolate chews from Bariatric Advantage. I have them on auto ship. They are great.

Uhhh... Got A Question!
Oregondaisy replied to BeautiifulEvolution's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very common the first few weeks after surgery. The constipation doesn't start until you're on the high protein diet if you don't get much roughage in. That's hard to do when the portions are so small. -
I was sleeved almost 3 years ago. I am on the Southern Coast.

What Types Of Clothes Got You Through The Rapid Weight Loss?
Oregondaisy replied to BKMama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can put up a post here on the clothing exchange and ask for what sizes you need. People will send you their clothes if you pay th postage. It works out well. I bought clothes at Thrift stores and garage sales, and also got some good deals at clearance sales. JC Penney's has great clearance sales. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are really no magic answers. Many people try to do liquids again, but find themselves hungry and unable to stick with it. The best thing you can do is try to limit your carbs , eating only lean meats and green veggies. Go back to the basics of eating Protein first and veggies with whatever room you have left. -
Wow! I am so sorry to hear that. It has to be very awful for you and your gf. This is not the way it goes for the majority of people though. The complication rate for this surgery is only 1%. I will be very interested to read what your surgeon tells you about your leak that the anesthesiologist told you maybe permanent. Your surgeon will know the next course of action.

Apparently My Body Can't Live Without Carbs
Oregondaisy replied to minaleigh's topic in Food and Nutrition
As long as we aren't getting our carbs from doughnuts and potato chips, carbs are fine. A little whole wheat bread is good for us! -
Every liquid that was brought to me in the hospital came with a straw. I have used one since day one. I can't drink without one.

I've never heard of buying it already made. I've heard of people making it themselves using Isopure for the cold part and using a jello mix and boiling water.

Three Days Out And I Have Questions
Oregondaisy replied to tmorgan813's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, it's all very normal. It should get better every day. There are a lot of people who can't get their Protein in until they are farther along. When the swelling is completely gone, it will be easier to eat and drink. The most important thing is to drink so you don't become dehydrated. Sip as much liquid as you can and keep in mind it will get better every day. -
Drinking Enough Water Everyday

Not drinking enough water can also cause kidney stones which are extremely painful! -
Chewing Till Its Mushy
Oregondaisy replied to vampsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost at 3 years and I don't even think about chewing very much at all anymore. I think I eat like a normal person. There are a few times when I am eating something really dense, like steak, when I am really careful to chew it well. -
Try mixing it with crystal light, or one of those vitamin waters. They taste way better if they are not straight out of the bottle.

Places to get liquid protein samples
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You have to watch the size of the package. Some have 2 lbs in a container, some have 5 lbs, some of them don't even have 2 lbs. If it's 5 lbs for that price, that's about normal. I pay 44 something for 5 lbs of myofusion choc/peanut butter. -
Yeah, it seems to work the best if you mix it with something like crystal light.

Most people hate Isopure and call it Isopuke.

There are some whey crisps that you can get at vitacost.com . They come in chocolate. They're hard to describe. I sometimes put milk over them and eat it like a cereal. I have put them in pudding too. They are sort of like little chunks or pellets of cereal.

Go to the food forum and you can find where to order samples of the nectar products. The only way I can describe them is that they are more fruity flavored rather than milky tasting. The twisted cherry is good and so is the carabean cooler. You can get one of every flavor in the sample pack for a pretty good price. They are also somewhat thinner than most milky protein shakes.

Gastric Bypass To Gastric Sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dr. Aceves, who is a very expereienced sleeve surgeon, said he would never even consider doing a sleeve on someone who had gastric bypass . He said that with the pouch that they make when you have the gastric bypass operation there is not enough stomach tissue left to do a sleeve. -
How Long Has It Been Since Your Sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 107 lbs between band and sleeve. I have kept it off , but can easily go up and down 10 lbs if I go on vacation, or a couple of weeks of returning to bad eating habits. Then I have to be really careful, with exercising and watching everything I put in my mouth. -

How Long Has It Been Since Your Sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll be 3 years at the end of the month. yes, it's easy to gain weight back. I still eat small portions, but it's easy to get into the habit of picking at different things through out the day. I can eat quite a bit more than I could at one year, but I am still never hungry. With things like chips, it's like I have no sleeve at all. I could eat a whole bag if I let myself, without any trouble at all. I don't do it, and I have to be really careful with ice cream. When I was first sleeved, and for about the first year, ice cream made me really sick. It doesn't anymore, and my boyfriend who lives with me, eats it almost every night. I am anemic, and I take Iron. If I go off of the iron, I am immediately anemic again. I just don't eat enough red meat. Outside of that, I am really healthy. -
Protein Shakes Making Me Sick
Oregondaisy replied to Seangarrette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protien shots are made from collegan which is not an absorbable Protein for us. Collegan is made from bioiled cow hide. There is a huge list of Protein Drink recipes in the food forum. There is also a list of places where you can get samples. The Syntrex nectar Sample packet is a really good deal. If you have a GNC, they will let you sample some things to find what you like.
