It's really hard to lose it again after we are on maintenance. I don't know why it was easy to lose in the beginning, and now, I can eat the same exact thing and not lose. It's much slower. I have to make sure to do hard cardio for at least 30 min per day. I take my heart rate and have to keep it up in the arerobic zone for at least 30 min. If I snack, I can forget about losing.

I notice that my urine is dark right after I take my vitaimins. The rest of the day, if it's dark, I know it's because I am not drinking enough.

Has Anyone Experience Hair Loss With The Sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to Rosikah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost half my hair and I told every single thing anyone ever recommended to me to prevent hair loss. Do a thread search on hair loss. This is a very common topic. There are many things people have tried, but none of it seems to do any good. -
Hahahaha! Take That Ex Boyfriend! Nsv
Oregondaisy replied to Julie76's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
What is even better, you won't be gaining it back. I've had the last laugh when an ex said something like " sure you lost a bunch of weight, but you'll gain it back just like you always do. That was 5 years ago. I love running into him these days! -
Thanks so much!! I have been wondering that same thing!! I would love to see what other people like to eat.
-
Of course it is! We are not perfect. Thank goodness our sleeve stops us from messing up too badly. It's just too bad that there are so many slider foods that the sleeve lets us really pig out on, if that is what we choose to do. My downfall is ice cream. I would do just fine if my husband who can eat anything he wants, would not bring it home!

I Don't Want To Eat Normal Ever Again!
Oregondaisy replied to JaspersGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am happy to say that apparently, you can shrink your stomach back too. I was really worrying because I could eat way more than I used to be able to eat. For the last 2 weeks, I have been concentrating on eating tiny portions again, the way I used to when I was first sleeved. Now I am getting full really fast again, and not able to eat as much as I could a month ago. -
I wish I could not eat ice cream and cookies!! When I was first sleeved, Ice cream gave me horrible diarhea. Horrible. We are talking don't move away from the bathroom for hours. It doesn't do that anymore. I could probably eat an entire bag of Oreos. You will learn the difference between slider foods, and foods that fill you up. Eating with the sleeve is a learning experience. It's best to learn good eating habits in the beginning, because later on down the road, it's easy to pick old habits back up. I will never regret having this done. It has changed my life more than I can ever say.

Dog gone it! I wanted to go to the Rhody Fest and completely forgot about it!

From Barely Able To Eat, To Eating "normal"
Oregondaisy replied to AliveAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The swelling in and around your stomach takes a long time to go away. When it does, we are able to eat more than we could when there is any swelling left. As your stomach is healed, you will be able to eat larger portions, and foods that might have bothtered you for awhile after surgery, will be easier to eat. -
I'd love to meet up with some of you! I am an hour south of Florence!
-
Just remember, one day you will be able to eat anything you want, in smaller portions. There is not one thing I can't eat.

I wish I were closer to all of you! I am stuck here in the middle of nowhere, on the Southern Oregon Coast.

Since Surgery I Have Never Been In For A Post Op Visit
Oregondaisy replied to blackanese25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think of all the people who go to Mexico and never see their doctors again. We all do just great. If you are following all the rules, you have nothing to worry about. You can go to your regular doctor to have labs drawn and check out your Protein, Iron and Calcium levels. -
May 22 Surgery :) ~:( So Unsure At This Point Please Tell Me I Am Not The Only One?!?
Oregondaisy replied to Nanny3Kids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In a few days you'll be making the most wonderful change in your life that you will never regret. It may be difficult at first, but it gets easier every day. Eating with the sleeve is a learning experience. Just check in here frequently if you have questions as you move through the food stages. You will do great! The sleeve is such a gift! -
1 Year Out An Its Not Good.
Oregondaisy replied to Skinnyagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know anything about this doctor, but there are plenty of us who have had no followup by our surgeons. Dr. Aceves and his assistant surgeon Dr. Campos come to see his patients 3 x per day for the 3 days we are hospitalized in Mexico. He goes over everything carefully before we go home. They are available by email or telephone, but it's pretty rare for anyone to go back there for any kind of followup. Dr. Aceves' patients have an incredible track record getting to goal too though. There's a lot of controversery about soda. I personally don't see how it could stretch the sleeve since liquid flows right out . The sleeve does stretch on it's own. At 3 years post op, I can eat quite a bit more than I could at one year. I am still never hungry, so it's easy to still eat small portions. We all know what kinds of things make us gain weight. It's not true that this is a lifestyle change that will last forever if you take it for granted. There are weddings, baby showers, parties, BBQs etc. it takes willpower to stay away from all the snack foods involved in social occations. We are all still living our lives in the world of temptations. I could easily eat an entire bag of chips if that is what I chose to do. All I am saying is that if you want to keep the weight off after the losing stage, it takes dedication to coninue to follow all the rules and maintain weight loss. -
I'm right with you there, Nannie. It's so easy to snack and gain a few and almost impossible to take it back off. It's maddening.

If you aren't on a ppi, you need to get one. Acid mimics hunger and you'll find that you feel much better as long as you take it every day. If you're on one, you might need o have it changed. Some that work for others, may not work for you.

Different Protein Drink Question...
Oregondaisy replied to Dizzle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yep, I am afraid so! -
Fruit is great stuff. I love apples with peanut butter on them. You can't eat certain fruits until you're completelly healed, but after that, eat fruit if you want to eat it!

Different Protein Drink Question...
Oregondaisy replied to Dizzle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Those Protein shots are collegan protein which is made from boiled cow hides. It's best to get your protein from a high quality whey protein isolate. -
Yeah, there is bound to be some awkwardness for awhile, but you did the right thing! Good luck with online dating. That can be a roller coaster, but it's should be a fun ride!

That was so sweet of your friend to do that for you! I remember so well what it was like to socialize and worry about how it's going to be, eating with friends. I am glad it went so well! Happy Mother's Day everyone!
