Think I Got My First Case Of Dumping!
Oregondaisy replied to Shilo30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gee that's odd, since my surgeon said we most definitely do have dumping syndrome and it's no different than the way RNY (gastric bypass) patients dump. My daughter had gastric bypass, and she was the one that told me what was wrong with me the first time it happened to me. She said "mom, you're dumping" -
Newbie! And I Have Some Questions :) Please Help!

You may need help with your baby for the first week or so. I had no pain to speak of, but I have seen ohers on here who say they were in pain for the first few days. You will get pain medication. As far as skin goes, it does stretch out. You're young, so you have a better chance of some tightening. You really can't lose over 100 lbs though, and not have some saggy skin. -
Think I Got My First Case Of Dumping!

I have a really bad sweet tooth too. Unfortunately, I can eat them with no trouble. It's when I eat something high in sugar and high in fat, that will make me sick like that. Once I ate at the Cheesecake Factory, and I had to find a couch in the mall to lay down for an hour. -
If you want to lower your carbs, eat plain Greek yogurt. If you put about 2 tablespoons of cheesecake sf pudding and a splash of Torrini's or DeVinchi sf syrup, it's a very nice treat! I love to use the coconut syrup.

Think I Got My First Case Of Dumping!
Oregondaisy replied to Shilo30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We as sleevers most definitely DO experience dumping. I have done it many times. I asked Dr. Aceves about it and he said it's because our stomachs are so small, that too much sugar or fat (or combination of both) will get into our systems much too quickly. It's not just diarhhea. It's sweating, feeling nauseous, and rapid heart beat. The diarrhea comes last. -

How do you add friends on there? I went to community and I could not see anywhere to add friends or how exactly this site works. I have only seen where you log in your food. -

My acid reflux has not gotten any worse and I am past 3 years. I tried to go off my acid blocker, and was off it for 6 months. I did have a lot of acid then, and I decided it wasn't worth it. I take less now, but I still take it. It's well controlled with my PPI -
Pretty Excited About This Product I Foung
Oregondaisy replied to TheNewSusie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From a nutritional point of view, collagen and Gelatin are a poor-quality sole source of Protein since they do not contain all the essential amino acids in the proportions that the human body requires—they are not 'complete proteins' This is why most nutritionists and doctors do not want us using these types of protein. They are poor quality and when we are consuming so little, it's very important to get the best protein available. -

I really need to get more exercise too. I used to be so good about going to the gym, even on the weekends. Well getting thin brought me a wonderful relationship, but he's interfering with my eating habits and my gym time. I am hoping now that it's summer, I'll at least be walking outside more even if I don't make it to the gym. -
I haven't been in the chatroom for awhile so I have no idea if people have been using it. It's a great way to get questions answered, or just talk about how things are going with other people who know how you feel. I'm going to leave the chat room window open for awhile if anyone wants to talk! Just click on chat , above!

2 Very Different Vsg Philosophies -- What's Yours?
Oregondaisy replied to Fyrefly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like Protein shakes. I am one of the few crazy ones! The only thing I find is that for me, if I tell myself I am going to only do shakes, that's what I do. For some reason, if I tell myself I am going to right and eat well, I always manage to eat some sort of junk anyway. I don't think it really matters if you get your protein from shakes or food, as long as you're following your doctor's post op plan. The real problem is we live life in the world of temptations, and it's very easy to let old habits come back as we are farther on down the road. For me, it will always be a battle. -

Where did all the people who were posting in this thread go? I really need the support of people who have been sleeved awhile and are past the "honeymoon" phase. I remember how easy it was at first. I remember being so happy that I was really full, very fast. I would love to have those days back again. I am sick of dieting. I will be grateful forever for the sleeve, but it takes a lot of effort to not gain weight. I am going to be 60 this fall, and it worries me that I won't always be able to work out as hard as I do now, to keep the weight off. It really helped me to read this thread over again, to know that I am not alone in this struggle and the same battle I have been fighting all my life. -
Need Comparison From The Pros
Oregondaisy replied to CT Fats's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes, it's normal to be able to eat more as time goes on. I am at 3 years. I ate a whole 6" once. Most of the time, I can't finish the last little bit and eat about 3/4 of it. Plus if you're a man, your sleeve is probably longer because you're taller. Don't worry. It's normal to stretch a bit as time goes on. It won't stretch too much though! -
I chew gum all the every day. I can't work out without chewing gum. The reason is becasue there is a chance you would swallow it. I haven't swallowed gum since I was a little kid.

There is a huge list of recipes in the food forum under Protein drinks. They're really good. It really is a HUGE list. I ordered the nectar Sample pack just now. I love getting the sample pack. So many flavors are so good. The cookie one is a new flavor. I am excited to try it.

For The People Who Stomachs Hurt
Oregondaisy replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never had any pain. I don't think it's normal to have pain after the first week or so. I can eat anything, without any trouble. I followed the post op diet to the letter, but I stayed on liquids and mushies longer because solids just made me too full. I do still take an acid blocker. I tried to go off of it, but the acid was not worth it. It's well controlled with my medication. -

I looked up the ingredients. It's made from collegan. Collegan is made from boiled cow hides. I'd rather stick with whey protein. -
Milk, My Friend, Why Do You Insist On Hating Me?
Oregondaisy replied to hollirrose's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I used to be horribly lactose intolerant from sleeve surgery. It drove me nuts, because it interfered with a lot of things I really enjoy. Thankfully, it went away. Most of us do adjust eventually. -
Protein Drinks...quick, What Is Your Favorite? Thanks!
Oregondaisy replied to judy7120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Matrix orange cream . I get it at vitacost.com (the best prices for anything, and free shipping.) I also like Gapari Myofusion Peanut Butter and chocolate, again, I get that from vitacost.com They also sell the nectar products. -
Yes, we can definitely dump. It's caused from too much sugar or too much fat getting into our systems too fast. Things don't stay inside us long, because our tummies are so tiny. It happened to me a lot in the beginning. One time I met my cousin for lunch, and I had a few bites of cheese cake. I was so sick, I had to find a couch at the mall and lay down at the mall. It rarely happens to me anymore.

Weight Loss Clusters?
Oregondaisy replied to Iliana82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I lost all my weight that way. I would not lose anything for weeks, and then I would drop 5 lbs in a week. Then I would not lose again for weeks. I had to make sure to stay on track. It's easy to think "I may as well eat that piece of chocolate because I am not losing anyway"
