    The disappearing act

I know there are a bunch of us doing online dating. I started talking to this guy who lives in Portland which is 4 hours away from where I live. We talked every day for 2 weeks, sometimes morning and evening. This is really against the rule I have for myself, which is not to waste a lot of my time on the phone with guys I've found online. This guy was different though. He was funny, and smart. I decided I wanted to meet him and my son lives in Portland, so I decided to visit my son and DIL. Right up until the day before I was ready to go, we were in contact and he was all for us meeting. All of a sudden, he doesn't text back and the phone goes straight to VM. Being the smart cookie that I am, I arranged to meet some other guys while I'm here. I found guys whom I normally would not contact since I live so far away. I made sure they like to dance. Out of 4 guys who were writing every day, and all for us meeting, only one has not disappeared on me. Two of them I forced to write back to me when they suddenly stopped answering emails. It pi$$ed me off that they would just take the easy way out. I wrote to them and said if you've changed your mind, you could at least write back and say so. I was disappointed I would not be making a new friend, but life was full of disappointments. I could understand it if we were in our 20's . But men in their 50's and 60's not having the manners to form an email that said it was not going to work out to get together after all, kinda makes me sick.

    dating?

I'm sorry to hear about the end of your marriage. Try to just take one day at a time. There are quite a few threads about all of us in the dating world. You'll have plenty of reading material. If you can't go to therapy try a group like OA for support. It's like free therapy, if you live in a place where there are good meetings. Also try meetup groups. There are meetup groups for all sorts of things, again if you live in a larger city than I do. Hiking, book clubs, etc. Eventually you'll feel like getting out an socializing. Good luck. Keep in touch with us because we will all wonder how you're doing.

    Kirby Vacuum ruined my carpet

I haven't tried yet. Do people in Seattle's newspaper write letters to the editor about things like this? The company is actually out of WA.

    Who's still around?

I'm really glad you're back too! I missed your posts! I hope you use a computer and not a phone to post. People are having trouble with the app. It's so much easier on a PC or laptop to see all the forums. There are several threads about all of us working on regain. One is weight gained since sleeved. I'm working on taking 10 lbs off again but it is really hard. I hope to see you posting every day!
  5. It does! My husband was killed in an accident ( almost 30 years ago) and I lost 35 lbs. I was eating normally exactly the way I always had. It was just stress. Every day I would get on the scale and it was down at least 3 lbs, sometimes 5!
  6. There is no reason that you can't have Dannon Fit and Light as a snack. Most of us do. It's those regular yogurts that have 4 or 5 grams of Protein and 15 or more carbs that you need to avoid. I freeze half a banana and put it in Protein drinks. I find they keep me full longer. Bananas do have a lot of carbs in them. If you're going to eat oatmeal, eat steel cut oatmeal. Do you like dill pickles? I find a dill pickle with a piece of lunch meat and a piece of cheese rolled up around it to be very satisfying. If you really have to have something sweet, have a sf popsicle or sf fudgesicle.
  7. I'm really sorry you have to have the stent. I didn't have to have that. In fact, after they blasted it, I never felt any of it passing. I was really afraid too, because I have interstitial cystitis which makes me feel like I have a UTI when I don't have one. I hope it's not as big of an ordeal for you as it was for Daisee.
  8. Next month it will be 7 years for me. I can tell you it never gets easier. I love all the signatures where people put ________lbs gone forever! the first year it was easy because 3 bites of food and I was so stuffed I didn't want anything for hours and hours. I'm amazed I am only fighting to take 10 off that I gained. It could easily be 25 if I didn't watch every single bite I take.

    Kirby Vacuum ruined my carpet

I am usually good at shutting the door in people's faces but these kids were cute, well dressed, good looking and they begged. I felt sorry for them.

    Kirby Vacuum ruined my carpet

Thank you! I tried finding something online about the Kirby Corp. but all I could find were other people complaining or how to be a kirby dealer. I have called several times a day and always get an answering machine. I'm going to call the attorney general. That is a great idea!

    Girl Scout Cookies

I just returned from a weekend with my 6 year old grand daughter who is a GS. There were so many times I wanted to open a box of thin mints and eat the whole box! That's what I did when I bought a box from her last month. I ate a box of thin mints for dinner.

    Wishing others would "lounge"

I completely forget about this forum too. I order salads a lot, or I order from the appetizer menu. I often share meals with people too. Guys I've dated know I don't eat much and will usually offer to order a large meal and share.
  13. I would think if it were an option to fix the reflux, more people would be getting DS. There are a lot of people revising to RNY (Gastric Bypass) because it does cure the reflux. The only person who can answer that question for you is a surgeon.

    Calcium

Take them back to Costco. They are really good about taking things back. I took back a carpet I had for 3 years because it had a run in it. Yes, you need calcium citrate. They have pills but they're big. I get the bariatric advantage on auto ship. It's cheaper that way.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I'm really glad to hear that, Sheryl. Hopefully they can get it scheduled quickly. Good luck Cathy. I know it's so easy to gain and so hard to lose. That's my goal this week is to not gain back what I lose on fast days.

    Calcium

I think 1500 of calcium citrate is standard for bariatric patients. I was told to take 500 3x per day and if I get more from food, all the better. I have osteopenia, so I would not want to take less. My friend has severe osteoporsis because she has not been taking calcium and was sleeved a week after me.

Jane, I am dying to know what your new idea is for "advertising!"

I have so much on my mind.....

have you even considered the sleeve? Dumping is much less common with the sleeve and you have a normal functioning stomach. You can take NSAIDS. Also, the sleeve is made from the non stretchy part of the stomach so the chance of regain is less. My daughter had gastric bypass and I had the sleeve. There is no way possible for me to eat the size of portions she can eat. She had gastric bypass in 05. She is pretty disappointed in how much her pouch has stretched.

    Out to the bars?

Great advice but it belongs in a different thread. This thread is about meeting people in bars. The OP wanted to meet some people out in the bars now that he's lost a lot of weight. There are some other threads about online dating.

    The disappearing act

@CowgirlJane I'd be like that guy - only I would hide my irritation (good manners!) because the realisation that this just won't work....I dunno it can trigger disappointment. I have soul searched and I know I can't do long distance - 45 minute drive is my outer limits. I still have someone in Portland I'd love to start seeing but I don't want it and know I would feel disappointed so I don't go there . Sorry he didn't figure it out until the middle of the date though.... He knew the deal from the beginning though. I told him in emails that I come up there frequently and that I would love to make a friend who loves to dance. He asked me to dinner and said he knew of a place we could go dancing if we liked each other enough after meeting at dinner. I don't want a long distance relationship either! @@sharon, what is KIK messenger?

    The disappearing act

So I thought I would report on my date last night. He knew I live on the coast 4 hours away. We met and shared a dinner which was great for me. He wasn't very hungry and we know how we eat so I suggested we share something. Then we went to this place that's not a bar where people go to dance. It's like a hall that people rent for different things. We were dancing and he was very patient teaching me things and showing me new things. Everything was going great and suddenly he acted irritated. I asked what was wrong and he said he was wasting his time when he could have come and possibly met someone who would turn into a relationship. He complained that I lived so far away and he didn't want to do a long distance relationship. I told him I thought he knew the circumstances and I was sorry he felt like I was wasting his time. He said he was just mad at himself. The rest of the night went ok. I told him I really enjoyed myself and kissed him, a little peck on the mouth and told him thank you for everything. I'd like to stay in touch with him so I'll message him again when I get home. I will be able to express myself better at the keyboard.
