Rating Protein Shakes
Oregondaisy replied to morswestford's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Sorry, I thought this was the other rating Protein drinks thread. As for RTD, I like Premier, and muscle milk light. I like the powders because I find it easier to mix things in with them. I like to mix in fruit, or crushed ice, and some flavoring. when I blend it all up, it's like a Wendy's frosty. I use RTD when I am on trips and don't want to pack a blender. I think Isopure is gross. There's a good reason that a lot of people call it isopuke. -
Rating Protein Shakes

I think Matrix is the best bang for the bucks, so to speak. It's only got 2 carbs and 120 calories. You can buy it at vitacost.com I love the orange cream. I have to add a little more torini's orange sf syrup to it though. I have the vanilla, choc. and the orange, and I don't think there is any aftertaste. It's made by the same company that makes all the nectar- Syntrax. I'm going to get the banana next. -
Yeah, I really like it too. It's low carb, so I don't mind eating it in the evening if I want a snack. I don't use it as a meal anymore, cause I can eat anything now. I think the cheapest place to get it is Amazon cause their shipping is cheaper. If you have a Vitamin shoppe, they carry it. I don' t have one here though.

20% Regain Weight After 2 Years
Oregondaisy replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really true that it's so easy to gain back 10% or more after 2 years. I can't tell you how much it scares me that I can eat so much more than I used to be able to. If I were not so careful, I am sure I would gain back more than 10 % The thing that saves me is not I am not really hungry, so that helps a lot. It's really important not to eat between meals. I've been talking to quite a few people who are more than 2-3 years out, and are noticing that it's so much harder than it used to be, to keep it off. It's always a work in progress. -
After you click on your name, and you click on where it says My Settings scroll down to where it says profile information. I think the words are Member Title . fill it in with what you want.

Today Food Seems To Go Down Too Well.
Oregondaisy replied to GoState's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's why they're called sliders. they slide right down and out like liquid. Solid protein like meat will be a different story. -
Click up to the right over on your sign in name. It says settings. If you click there, you can change it.

You have to realize that even though you can't eat the meal that your husband and family eat now, you will be able to later. Tonight I had a pretty nice chunk of steak, a 1/4 of a baked potato, and about 1/4 C of broccoli. I don't cook every night, but I do make a nice meal for him about 4 days a week. I like sitting with him, and even if my portions are about 1/4 the size of his, we eat the same thing and enjoy our time together.

Don't let yourself get constipated. This is a huge problem with us sleevers. You can take a stool softner every day, or use Miralax. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. I hope they have some answers for you.

Yep, I was given a straw in the hospital and have been using one ever since. No air for me!

It does get better, honestly. It took me 5 years to get rid of all my fat clothes, because I was sure I was going to gain it all back. I finally just had to get rid of them because I could no longer store all the boxes that held from a 24 down to what I wear now , a 6 or an 8. It took years of shopping , looking at clothes and thinking it wouldn't look good on me, to finally trying on more flattering styles. I still won't have my picture taken, and I have been at goal for a very long time.( I got to goal with my band )

I Wonder What Celebrities Are Sleeved?!?
Oregondaisy replied to SensationallySassyT's topic in Rants & Raves
What about Oprah? Why does she choose to remain fat when she can get healthy and look good again. That one just stumps me. Kirstie Alley? I think she had WLS. -
I asked this awhile ago and they helped me get that fixed. Which browser do you use? Most browsers have spell check in them and a red line will appear when something is spelled wrong. Send a message to Ken in Admin. or Alex, board owner. He is the one who helped me get that feature turned on. I freak out wondering if I spell things wrong, and this is a big help.

Is The Band That Bad?
Oregondaisy replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's just a matter of time until the band will be taken off the market. I heard on TV that the makers of the band are being sued for the erosion of the stomach that it causes. I go to a local support group, and it's heartbreaking to hear of so many people who are still self paying for the band, only to have it slip. I am so glad I had mine removed as soon as I started throwing up in my sleep, with no fill. I knew it had to be damaging my stomach. -
Let's add babybell light in there too. It's made by the same people as laughing cow. And yes, I do eat crackers, I like Kellogs multi grain crackers.

I never took one single thing before surgery, and I didn't have to be on clear liquids or any type of pre op diet.

For Those Taking A Ppi Daily
Oregondaisy replied to JD7176's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take it in the morning. You're not supposed to take it within 2 hours of calcium or iron. -
If you want to count carb grams, most doctors say 30 grams and under is best for losing. There are a lot of people who don't watch carbs at all, and feel it doesn't make any difference in their losing.

Having A Hard Time...and A Tad Regret
Oregondaisy replied to soontobeskinnymini's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you drinking bottled Water? You need to experiment with different brands. They say it's the PH balance of water that's off for our new tummies. Usually, warm liquids will work better. I still can't drink things cold after 3 years. Most people do say they can get in more liquids if they drink something with flavoring in it, such as G2, crystal light, etc. -
I'm pretty freaked out. I had to pick up a container at the lab today so I can collect my urine for 24 hours. Can you get potassium citrate over the counter? I can't drink cranberry juice. It makes me feel like I have a UTI. That's what started all of this. I get UTIS so often, and there is always blood in my urine when I get one. The Dr. had me get a cat scan. He is checking for bladder cancer. He's going to look inside my bladder at the end of the month. Then he'll tell me what we're going to do about the stones. I'm afraid it's going to move, and I can't pass it. He already said it's huge.

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I do take my PPI every other day. It works fine for me to do it that way. I'd like to get off of it completely, but I know GERD and acid reflux are bad. I've heard of some people who take a PPI and still have problems with acid, so I'm really glad it's controlled if I take it. I went on vacation and ate basically anything I wanted, and gained 7 lbs. 7 lbs in one week. incredible. Back to watching every bite I put in my mouth, and hitting up the gym as often as I can get in there. -
No I was asking how you file them in a recipe box.

I just found out I have one in each kidney and the urologist said the one in my right kidney is very large. scary! I'm not even sure what they're going to do about it.

20% Regain Weight After 2 Years
Oregondaisy replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know for sure that the stomach of the RNY stretches way more than the VSG stomach does. My daughter had the RNY before I was sleeved. She can eat at least 4 times more than I can eat.I know at 3 years out, I'll never be able to eat as much as she can eat.
