If you get stuck and feel stalled, it's just your body getting used to it's new weight. After it adjusts, it will be willing to give up weight again. Just stay on track and know that it's going to take time, but the pounds will come off!
-
There is a back on track thread. It's very hard. After awhile, we can eat more than we first could ,plus head hunger really gets in the way. I have found the only way to get rid of cravings is to cut carbs almost completely. After about 3 days, I lose the feeling of wanting to snack all the time.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very excited that I am going to be able to afford to hire a trainer for a few sessions. I am so sick of my routines and I need to learn new exercises. I was really lucky that even though I slipped up a few times during the past few weeks during the holidays, I managed to stay the same weight that I have been for a year. I am hoping with the trainer, I'll be able to take off some of the 10 I've gained back. So far, this last year, I've had no success at getting it to come off. -
Everyone has stalls . Don't get discouraged. You'll lose more weight. It's only been 5 weeks. Just stay on track with what your doctor told you to eat, and you'll lose weight. You may not lose as fast as you would like, but this surgery will change your life.

I Want My Stomach And My Money Back! (J/k)
Oregondaisy replied to Butterflylegacy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When you do break the stall, you'll lose a bunch. I did that all through out my weight loss journey. I would plateau for awhile, and then lose 5 lbs in a week, and then go on another plateau. It will come off. Try not to feel discouraged, because you're right. When you're eating so much less, it has to go down but sometimes not as fast as we want. You'll be losing again soon. -
so many post op questions
Oregondaisy replied to wrightan5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She should sip on whatever she can tolerate. When we say not to focus on Protein right now, it's because the most important thing is not to become dehydrated. That would cause all sorts of problems. As long as she is sipping on liquids, the protein will come along as she heals, within the next few weeks. Has she found any protein drinks that she likes? -
Need your input protein shots
Oregondaisy replied to mariamitani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shots are not a good choice of protein because they are made from collagen protein which is not easily absorbed. If you do a search on this topic, there's a lot of posts about why collagen is not good protein. -

It makes me really happy to see so many people finding this thread so useful. -
Do you know what size boughie was used on your stomach? do you feel you can eat too much when it's dense protein like beef?

Anyone more then 2 years out?
Oregondaisy replied to freespirit63's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'll be 4 years this April too. I can eat way more than I could at one year, but I don't think I can eat too much. If I think I can eat more, and try, I am really very uncomfortable and I hate that feeling. I hate being too full. So I have learned where to stop. I have regained about 10 lbs over my lowest weight but I have been this weight for a year. I don't seem to gain or lose, even if I try to lose. I am a pretty happy sleever. -
Kinda thought things would be better by now

They have all the flavors listed on the 7-11 web site. I think it said the cherry lime was 20 calories for a small. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really can't keep any type of goodies in the house. There is already fattening food that's actually healthy, and not empty calories that I could easily gain weight on. It drives me crazy because I know I could easily gain 20 lbs if I didn't watch it so closely. That's okay though. I'm pretty happy for a 60 year old woman. When I see other women my age in their frumpy clothes, I am ecstatic with my sleeve! -
I hope they get this figured out soon Lux. It's definitely not normal to have vomiting go on this many weeks post op. I hope your dr. is running every test under the sun to find out what is causing all your nausea, while even on nausea medication.

I've been doing better with my eating, but the scale doesn't show it. I've been eating carefully, not eating between meals and only one snack after dinner. I feel good about that, but I know I will not really lose any of my regain unless I am better about my exercise. It's so hard when you get so much busier. I really should not complain, I guess. I've been the same weight for a year, so I am not gaining anymore. This must be where my body wants to be.

Just be aware that it will hit you a lot harder and faster now than when you had a much bigger stomach.
-
It's a little difficult now, when you've barely had surgery. Eventually, you'll be eating whatever he eats, in small portions. My bf and I go out to eat all the time. Sometimes we share, sometimes I order an appetizer, or a bowl of Soup ( and eat some of his) It all works out fine. I've dated a lot of guys over the last 5 years since I first had WLS, and it's never been a problem. Ice cream gave me horrible diarrhea in the beginning, and that could be a potential problem. Be careful with ice cream!

Trying To Stop Losing Weight!
Oregondaisy replied to robbie_rotten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's pretty common in the beginning. Don't worry about it. The farther out you are from surgery, the more you can eat. You'll just naturally start to have a little bigger portion sizes. For now, snack on nuts in between meals. They are a healthy fat that we actually need, and a great way to get more calories. You'll be able to maintain whatever weight you want to be, eventually. It's just trial and error right now. -
Hair Hell - Please Give Me Good News....
Oregondaisy replied to ShannonK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your post could have been mine. I've always had long hair and gotten compliments on how thick and pretty it was. I lost half my hair, but it's coming back in. I lost a lot of hair again when I revised from band to sleeve. I am finally done losing hair and new hair is still coming in. -
What's More Important Water Or Protein?
Oregondaisy replied to jkfjdohio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
water is the most important thing. If you have to choose between the two, water is what you can't be without. You would get very sick if you got dehydrated. The Premier drinks from Costco have 30 grams of protein, so at least you can get half of your days requirement from one drink. They go down very well. -
5 Weeks Post Op My Esophagus Is Burning Is This Normal? And Fixes?
Oregondaisy replied to ahh2bm3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, Protonix is pretty great stuff. I was also told at my appointment (and I never knew this) that you're supposed to take it and wait 30 min before eating. I always took it with breakfast. I am changing that now. The doctor said it would work way better if I took it 30 min before breakfast. -
5 Weeks Post Op My Esophagus Is Burning Is This Normal? And Fixes?
Oregondaisy replied to ahh2bm3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most sleeved patients are given a prescription for an acid blocker after surgery. You need to call you doctor, and since you had your surgery in MX ( so did I) if you were not given any type of acid blocker to take home, you can call your pcp and tell them you're having acid problems. There are all sorts of OTC medications for this as well, but if you have insurance, this is usually a covered prescription. I take Protonix and I can't be without it. I just had a scope into my stomach, and I am 3.5 yrs post op. The Dr. explained that our stomachs still make the same amount of acid as it did before 85% was removed. -
Urinary Tract Infection (Uti) And Kidney Stones
Oregondaisy replied to dominique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I just had to have surgery to have my kidney stones removed. Sometimes I am just not thirsty and it's so hard to force myself to drink. Now that I've had surgery because of it, I know just how important it is, and I am doing better. -
Over 60 and having the sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to ginnylee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love that getting the sleeve has made it possible for me to do so much more than I could years ago, when I was fat. At 60, I feel way better than I did at 50! -
well you're not too far from me!
