    Leak?

HI Sannah, Did they find out if you passed your kidney stone? I am so thankful they broke mine up so it would be easy to pass. I remember that pain so well before they did that. Yuck. You have been through way too much. I pray that this is the end of all these troubles you're having. I hope you're well around the 10th of march when I come up there!
  2. No kidding. It was really hard to sit there while he ate a bowl of ice cream every night and donuts for Breakfast. He had candy in the house all the time too. I don't want any of that cr@p in my house!! I've been doing mostly Protein Shakes just because I love them and I hate to cook. I am hoping it's going to pay off. I'd love to get this regain off and be able to wear some of the clothes I haven't been able to wear lately.

    Leak?

I'm so sorry for all that you've gone through with your leak. Gall stones and kidney stones are pretty common with patients who have had WLS. I had to have my gall bladder out 9 months post op and I just had kidney stone surgery a few months ago. I just hope I don't continue to keep forming kidney stones. I was told to drink a lot of lemonaide, as citric acid is supposed to prevent kidney stones. I drink crystal light that has citric acid in it.

    What do you miss most?

I love steak. It's one of the easiest things for me to eat. A 4 oz steak is perfect. yum yum.
  5. I think I will be doing better, at least for now. I told my bf to move out and he did. We were having a lot of issues about money . I do miss him, but it's for the best. Now I can go back to not cooking big meals and not keeping all that bad stuff he ate in the house. I've already lost 2 lbs.

    Leak?

hope you're feeling better Sannah. You were doing so well, it's not fair to get sick again. I had to have my gall bladder out and it seems that a lot of us sleevers have to have it out . I'm probably going to come up sometime on March 10th. I still have to ask my boss for the time off work, which should not be a problem. I'll pm you when it gets closer and we can work out some details.

    What do you miss most?

I don't miss anything. There's nothing I can't eat. I eat whatever I want. Sometimes I have to pay for it on the scale, but for the most part, I try to eat right. Protein first and stay away from junk food. I've gotten used to not drinking with my meals. It's not hard because if I drink with my meals, it gives me a sick feeling.

    Leak?

Well if you ever wanted to meet at Clackmas town Center to talk to someone who is almost 4 years post op, I would love to meet you and your sweet baby. I love babies.

    I Need Advice

Yes this is true. I eat very normally. I eat anything I want. I just eat smaller portions. If I want to eat veggies, I usually will eat them first, because meat fills me up so fast. I try not to eat starches because they make me gain weight. I can eat anything just fine though.

    I Need Advice

Medicare is supposed to start covering the sleeve in all states, but when is everyone's question. You may have to wait until it's approved in your state, but it shouldn't be long. Your other option is Mexico. You can go to very skilled surgeons in MX for much less. If you choose that route, you'll need to do some research on surgeons.

    Leak?

I've never heard of anyone who likes to clean. I wish I felt that way!! Where are you in Portland? I go up there frequently . My son dil and 3 year old grand daughter live in Hillsboro and I have a really good friend (actually my ex husband) that lives off the 205 near Clackamas. I'll be coming sometime the first week in March because it's my DIL's birthday. I use any excuse to see my sweet grand daughter! I'm glad to read you're doing so much better. It only gets better from here!
  12. I wish it was not such a struggle. Didn't we have WLS so we would stop all this struggling? I've been doing way better lately. It's really hard though when my boss puts a bowl of chocolate covered raisins on my desk. I had a handful, then put a bunch of papers on top of the bowl so I didn't have to look at them. Regain and "bounce back" weight is expected, but it's really hard to accept. I will keep fighting!

    LilMissDiva's boot camp

Yoplait and Dannon both have Greek Yogurt that are fairly low carb. The Yoplait has 8 carbs and I think the Dannon has 10 I've tried Carb smart before and I thought tasted really bland. It didn't have much flavor.

    Leak?

Sannah, Where are you in Oregon? I am on the south coast. I am so sorry to read all that you're going through. I hope you're on the road to recovery so you can start putting all of this behind you, and play with your baby girl. I will say prayers for you!

How does recovery compare to c-section?

I had 2 C sections and my revision surgery was almost like not even having surgery. I was up walking immediately. The next day, I was walking all over the hospital,nd outside. Trying to get up after a C section was A LOT more painful.

    Protien Powder/Drink Samples

Look at the beginning of the protein powder forum and there is a whole list of places to get samples.

    What about Syntrax Matrix 5.0?

Syntrax Matrix is the only one I use now. I like all the flavors, except banana. The banana is very bland. the mint cookie is fabulous, even though it has 20 more calories. I have orange cream (I add more orange torini syrup to that one) chocolate vanilla mint cookie (it has little chopped up cookie pieces in it) delish!) Sytrax is a very good Protein powder. they are the same company that makes the nectar drinks everyone likes.

Frustrated by the NUTs hard sells

There is a list under the protein drink section somewhere, where people rated their protein drinks. There is also another list that someone made that had tried a lot, and he rated them from excellent to lousy..
  19. I'm glad to see more people joining this thread, who are not in their first year. Everyone in the beginning seem to be so convinced that they have changed their eating habits so much, that they will never go back to their old ways. I don't think it was until after I was 2 years post op that I really started to struggle with not being able to lose anything I gained if I went "off plan" for a few days. In the beginning, I could go right back to Protein first and I would drop anything I had gained. Now, I have to be very careful because if I decide to eat something that I know will make me gain, I'll be shopping for new clothes.

    Coconut milk

I make protein drinks out of all of them. I never use milk. I use soymilk, or almond or coconut milk.
  21. The first time I ate it, I had extreme diarrhea. I developed lactose intolerance after surgery, but it seems to be gone now.

Delicious No Carb -High Protein Pizza

that sounds really good and I'm definitely going to try it. I don't have any unflavored protein powder. I have just about every other flavor though.

    Snacks

Greek Yogurt seems to be a staple for everyone. String cheese and laughing cow cheese are really popular too.

    Greys Anatomy!

I never knew that. I've been watching since it started, and I could have sworn Merideth and Darrick had a wedding.

    Vitamin deficiencies

Right. I had my surgery done in Mexico, so I go to my pcp for tests. A bariatric doctor would know what needs to be monitored.
