Yeah, I was gone out of town all day where there was good, yummy delicious food being eaten in front of me all day. I caved and had a chocolate covered banana dipped in nuts. It was soo good. I will semi fast saturday to make up for it.

I think I was able to figure out how to make Laura the moderator and i sent an invite to fiddle and leeann. Is there anyone else? We just need Georgia in here, cause it looks like she is in the other one I accidentally started, when I was learning to start a group. There should be 10 of us in this one now.

Rating protein powders
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Premiere is definitely the most popular Protein drink around. The OH sleeve board always has people raving about it too. I like it a lot, but i like my powders that I can add sf syrups or fruit too, better . Premiere is good for "on the go" -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I invited Leeann and Fiddleman. I don't want to leave anyone out. I also pmed Susan and asked her how to make you moderator. I don't want to be the only one , or one at all for that matter, who approves people. I want anyone who wants to be a part of this to be able to join. I just don't want newbies in here who are under a year and need to follow their surgeon's plan. -
That's a great idea. I didn't want to be the moderator anyway, but I wanted to get it started so we could get it figured out. I went to a big festival today and I am afraid of how much I gained. Life is back to normal tomorrow, so I will try to keep my calories down even though Saturdays are very hard food wise, because of socializing.

I am not sure how you find the group to post in it. I had to go to my profile and it said groups on it. I accidentally created 2 of them. I messaged Susan to fix it. I started a thread "how was your 5:2 day? Susan said she might be able to move our 5:2 thead here over there.
-
Susan said she was going to try to move this entire thread over there to the groups. I approved you, so you can go in there now, and I started a thread, in case Susan can't move this over there. Yeah, I like to have a light night snack of 100 calorie pack of cocoa dusted almonds. not on fast days. So I've been trying to eat Breakfast at 11 Does a baby bell light have less calories than a string cheese?
-
I've done pretty well so far fasting. I was a little bit hungrier than I was the last time it was fast day. I don't know what to do about medicine. I don't want to start eating at least until noon, but I have medicine I am supposed to take in the morning with food. I took it with a string cheese cause I could not think of anything with less calories. I started a group. It's private. It will show up in groups, but you have to be invited to join. I invited everyone who has been posting in the thread. If I missed anyone, Let me know so I can add them. This way we won't get any newbies who are losing slowly but are under a year post op and should be trying to eat according to their surgeon's instructions.

Kinda thought things would be better by now

That's wonderful news! I met my bf on POF and I love him to death but he can eat whatever he wants and it's hard to have him in my life sometimes. I've gained back 15 lbs that I am trying desperately to lose. He eats sweets in front of me all the time. I wanted love in my life so it's worth whatever weight gain! I'm trying hard and I've been sleeved 4 years now. Life goes on! I hope you two are really happy and please post a wedding picture! -
Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
If you're struggling to get to goal and have been sleeved more than a year, the new 5:2 way of eating seems to be working for a bunch of us. We are trying to get back to goal after regaining, or some want to keep losing because they haven't made it to their goal, after being sleeved over a year. It's made a huge difference to me, but I've only been doing it a week. I really feel that it's going to work. It has gotten rid of my night time snacking, and grazing through out the day. I think I can maintain eating this way indefinitely. I even watched my bf eat a bowl of ice cream without asking for a bite. -
I'm fasting today. I am excited to fast. This new way of eating has gotten rid of my grazing and my snacking at night. I'll have to pm alex and find out if there is any advantage to being in a group rather than this thread.
-
So what are the general thoughts on making a 5:2 group? I have to find out if there would be any advantage to doing that. If people want to check it out and post, I am not sure if they can post if they don't join the group.

Yeah, I know my metabolism is really slow. I am short 5'2" and small boned. They say yo yo dieting slows down your metabolism and that's what I did, all my life. I called today and I can have it done at my band surgeon's office for $50 and I have an appt to do it next thurs. I can't exercise for 24 hours before the test. I am not supposed to eat or drink and just get out of bed and go. Then they hook me up to a machine and I breathe in and out of this tube for 20 min and it will tell me how many calories I burn without exercise. I'll be curious to see if it has changed. I had that done when I still had my band and I was losing really slowly. It's been at least 5 years ago. I am fasting tomorrow! I am loving how this has gotten rid of my cravings and I really don't care when I eat . It's like when I was first sleeved.

yeah, you never told us if you met him online! -
I'm going to have to try the chocolate. I have never gotten the consistency right and it's always grainy. I'll have to keep trying. I usually just dump it into a shake as a powder. I like the sf syrups better. It's 0 calories but sometimes a creamy pb texture would be great. Can't put the syrup on a cracker, that's for sure.

I put in 23 hours a day of sitting because I really don't do much when I'm not at the gym. and 1 hour a day of working out and it gave me 1400 calories. When I was hooked up to that machine at the doctor it said my basic metobolic rate was 1200. I knew my metabolism was really slow. That was when I first had lap band surgery, but I've built a lot of muscle since then, which is supposed to help with slow metabolisms. .
-
Thank you so much! Yeah, I signed up a long time ago. I tracked for a few days and it kept telling me I wasn't eating enough calories. Thanks so much for all the explanation. I need to sit down and enter the foods I eat the most. The part I have problems is with recipes trying to figure out my portion, and if it's a casserole or something, I pick out the carbs in there. Most foods have all the info on the package. How do you find out what your TDEE is? I can't even remember what that is. I know my band surgeon does a basic metobolic test where I was hooked up to a machine. I called today to find out how much it would be to do that test again.

I've found that the bottled Water companies put different things in the water. One brand will bother me, but another won't. I do good with Arrowhead, but it has to be room temp. My doctor told me tap water is the wrong ph balance for our sleeved stomach. I hate that most sf drinks have aspertame in them. I refuse to drink that stuff.

I have no idea how to track calories on MFP. I have to learn. Is everything we eat on there.? How do you track it if you're eating a tiny portion? Can someone help me with this? One these feast days, how much are we supposed to eat? How do you find out your TDEE or whatever it is you're calling it? I don't know what that is! This thread moves so fast, on my work days, I have a hard time checking in. I am off to the gym soon, and I am not going to eat before I go. I like eating later so I can have a snack since I stay up late. All these years I have been forcing myself to drink a Protein Shake as soon as I got up , and all my life, I've never eaten Breakfast before 11 am. I can bring something to the gym if I really get hungry. So far, the fast days have not been all that hard. This fri I am going to a big festival so I am thinking of taking an appetite suppressant because there is so much good food there. I'll be fasting on thurs. I want to make sure I am doing this right.

How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?
Oregondaisy replied to clk's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I didn't weigh myself yet today. I have to decide what day is going to be my official weigh in day. I have never weighed once a week in my life. I have always weighed once a day or more than once a day. I just can't do that with the 5:2 plan cause I would freak out if I gained back what I lost on a fast day. I need to give this a few weeks. Yesterday was not a fast day but I hardly ate at all. Doing the fast has cut down on my hunger. Swizzley it seems like you don't need the 5:2 plan. You sound like you're doing great in maintenance with out it. I have to say, this is a way better way to get back on track than the 5 day pouch diet. -
I am working with my trainer on tues and thurs. so I didn't want to do both my fast days on the days I work out with him. Yesterday I didn't eat until noon. Today I had a Protein Shake at 10 am. . This 12 hour thing is really helping with my night time snacking. Does everyone else weigh once a week or every day?

How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?
Oregondaisy replied to clk's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I just got home from the gym. I was so bored from all the things I was doing and I needed to learn new things. I have hired trainers before at this gym, but none of them were as good as this guy. I got a big NSV from him today. He said that I was doing my weight training like a 20 year old, and that I'm way farther ahead than he expected. I've been feeling so bad because I don't get to the gym as much as I used to. I was glad to hear him say that cause I feel like such a slug. I am really glad I found you guys. I wouldn't have known about the 5:2 diet and I think it's going to keep me on track this week. -
This is the first time since wls that I am not going to weigh myself that I will only be weighing once a week. It will frustrate me too much to lose on the fast days and gain it right back on a regular day. I think if I don't weigh myself , I'll actually do better because I will be afraid to eat. I am not sure of my calories for yesterday. I ate a string cheese deli meat and 1 slice swiss 3 baby back ribs. I took off most of the sauce then I had a terrible Headache, so I had some greek yogurt because I didn't want to take aspirin on an empty stomach. So I think I may have been 600 calories not 500 because the yogurt was 100 calories.
-
I did it today to see what the difference is on a work day. Plus I ate so badly yesterday that I really wanted to get back on track quickly. It really makes me mad that I can't wear a lot of my summer clothes. All of a sudden, I have this spare tire around my middle and all of my tops are too small. It doesn't make sense to me, because I'm not up that much from last summer. I got a book for .50 written by Dr. Oz at the library today. it's a cool book and it explains all about hormones and weight gain. It's not just the women hormones. There are all sorts of other hormones, like the hunger hormone and the satisfaction hormone.

How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?
Oregondaisy replied to clk's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yes, I do know this person IRL. She relied to much on the surgery, did not change her eating habits, and expected the surgery to do all the work. She looked good for the first 2 years. Now she rarely leaves her house other than to go through the drive-through fast food places.
