    egg white protien powder

I've never tried it but I know a lot of people swear it's the only one they like.
  2. We usually have a guest speaker at our support group. We've had counselors talking about food addiction, another one talked about transfer addictions, a trainer talking about how muscle burns fat. We also have a clothing exchange. The nurse will sometimes pass out information she has down loaded off the internet-some interesting article on WLS she finds. then we each talk about how we're doing. We meet once a month.

    Is the Dumping Syndrome?

The easiest way to get rid of it is to eat some protein quickly. It usually evens me back out pretty quickly.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Yeah, I know it will help me if I learn to do it. I have logged in so far today. I think actually once I get the hang of it, I'll like it. I actually like to keep track of stuff and I can see I should have bought a better phone.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Do you all log as you go? Coops I wrote that post about not logging the bison meatloaf just before I went to bed. Maybe I would be better to log as I go so I don't have to do all of it at once. Everyone is doing so well. I was happy to eat this morning. I felt sick all night, I had a Headache and I didn't want to take anything on an empty stomach. So, I woke up in the middle of the night with my head pounding. I finally got up and took something and went back to sleep. A little while later, I woke up with my stomach killing me from taking it on an empty stomach. So I took a sip of milk. I think I got that really bad headache from not eating all day.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I did really well fasting today. I ended up having a tiny piece of cantaloupe after my bison meat loaf. I am assuming I didn't go over 500 calories but I didn't weigh my meatloaf and I would have to look up bison somewhere. I am not good about logging. I am amazed that I am not hungrier than I am, and I would sure love a snack but it's past my time to be able to eat.

    Trying to open up

I don't want to sound mean, but I need to say that you need to learn to change your eating habits. You have a lot of restriction the first couple of years. Things like candy ice cream and chips will slide right down. You will be able to consume just as much as this stuff as you did before you were sleeved. There is a thread, how many vets are actually staying at goal. In there we talk about gaining weight back. I personally know people who have gained all of their weight back.

    Is the Dumping Syndrome?

It's Reactive Hypo or Hyper Gylcemia

    Is the Dumping Syndrome?

I am not sure if that would be considered dumping. There is something else that we get when we eat something with fat and sugar. I can't think of what it's called, but basically, too much sugar too fast because things move out of our stomachs quickly due to the size.

    New member introductions

There is a common thread to all of this. We've been dieting for years. We know how to diet . I did the Atkins diet the first time when I was 13.

    Fast Day

Today is fast day and I'm doing well. I had half of a Protein Bar before my appointment with the trainer and ate the other half after we worked out. So I have 300 calories left and it's 4pm. I am going to go with a slice of bison meat loaf I made last night. I don't know the calories but I am sure it would not be over 300. My bf has a bison ranch. Bison has the lowest fat & cholesterol and lowest calorie of all meat, by the way. It's lower than even chicken or fish.

    Fasting question

HI, I was reading some of the links with information on this way of eating. The guy who wrote the book "the Fast Diet" was on Rachel Ray. Where did the 12 hours come from? Cause what I was reading said you have an 8 hour window in which you can eat. So is it 12, or is it 8?

How was your 5:2 day today?

I probably ate way too many calories today but at least they were good calories. My friend gave me 20 lbs. of cherries. I ate so many cherries! They are so good! I spent the day going around to all my friends' houses giving cherries away. I don't even know how I would count it. They were in a huge box and I nibbled out if it on and off all day. One of my friends convinced me to go have Mexican food. I had a chicken dish, which was healthy and only about 3 chips. fasting tomorrow and I am not even going to weigh in the morning cause I was so happy this morning . I don't want to see the gain.

    Eating as a vet adaptation

The biggest thing you said in your original post is that you do not snack. You do not graze. That's what gets everyone in trouble. Some of us eat correctly like our surgeons tell us to eat for a long time, but eventually, bad habits creep in. For some, it's soda, and others it's just little bits of junk food here and there. There is a back on track thread at Obesity Help and the majority of people who need to get back on track say they stopped counting calories.

I know you can't get a sleeve after an RNY because I know so many people that want to do that. I asked Dr. Aceves too. He said it is not possible. That's the problem with the RNY. They leave the wrong part of the stomach, the stretchy part. I wish my daughter could get the sleeve and get rid of the rny. The side effects of that surgery are awful. She is only 32 and got the RNY at 25.
  16. I am not sure that you dedicated yourself to eating the 5:2 way, before asking to join our group. There are links that explain the diet fully, that you need to read so you can decide if this is right for you. The 5:2 thread also has a lot of information about when people started . In that thread, we decided to form this group of people who were already eating this way. I suggest you do it for at least 2 weeks, and send one of us a private message and tell us that you've tried it and are committed and would like to re-join the group.
  17. I am really loving my new way of eating, the 5:2 way!

How was your 5:2 day today?

I'd like to get back to 135 too. That's where my clothes would fit me the best. That was my original goal, but I ended up getting down to 127. For the longest time, I was 130-132. I liked that. It was hard raising a daughter with a weight problem. She was so sad at school because the boys were so mean to her. I was against her having the RNY though. I so wish the sleeve had been popular then like it is now. She is still struggling at 32. Now she is pregnant.
  19. Well not all WLS boards. He started all the "talk" boards, Lapbandtalk, etc. he didn't start Obesity Help. Alex is great! I love that he makes himself so accessible to all of us when we have questions.

    Fasting question

Maybe I have been doing this wrong. I've been eating Breakfast at 11 am and having my last snack at 11 pm. so I have a 12 hour window to eat, and 12 hours to fast. Am I doing it wrong?

How was your 5:2 day today?

You guys will love being grand parents. I would love to take my grand kids to chucky cheese. We don't have that here. There is one 4 hours away, in Portland, but it's still pretty far from my son's house. I love not having them full time and just taking them out to play!! I don't know how to count today's lunch. I am going out with a friend for a Greek salad. I'm 100% Greek and I love Greek food. This guy's salad is better than my grandmother's. It's a Mediterranean restaurant so this is the only Greek thing on the menu. Anyway, can look up Greek olives , and guess how much feta he puts in there, but the oil and vinegar, I have no clue how much oil he puts in there. Counting calories is HARD. It's so much easier to count carbs. But that's what let me gain back 15 lbs. thousands of low carb calories.

    Eating as a vet adaptation

To answer your original question Fiddleman, I think that you should eat what works for you. I don't think it matters if you spread your calories between 7 meals. I am curious why you're eating so much Protein. I know protein keeps us full, but I worry about kidney stones. My dr. told me too much protein is bad for the kidneys. He told me to go online according to my height, and find out how much protein my body requires. I still have kidney stones, even after surgery. He blasted them, but I'm still passing pieces months later and it's not fun.

    The 5:2 diet

Yeah, we just have to decide if we want to keep a giant long thread here, talking about how our 5:2 eating habits are coming along, or update over at how was your 5:2 day. I only started that one because this one was getting so long. I am down to 145. I am so excited. Last summer I got really sick and didn't eat much all week and I went from 148 to 142 in a week. As soon as I felt better, I gained it right back. I haven't been able to get below 148 since then. I am really excited that I haven't gained back what I have lost on fast days! I 've only been doing it for a week and a half.

    MFP

Are there any tricks to making this easier? I am just learning to use this and I find it so time consuming. There has to be an easier way. do you measure and weigh your food before entering it? How do I know if the slice of cheese is the same amount of ounces as the one they give me when I type in cheese. I really want to do this but truthfully, it's driving me nuts!

    Eating as a vet adaptation

It's very easy for me to eat mindlessly. That's what gets me. I think I'm eating right at meal time, but I forget about the container of pb filled pretzels on the counter at work, or the piece of candy at the bank, etc. I do know that if I manage to keep all carbs out of my life, other than the ones in veggies, I have no hunger. My Ghrelin may have come back, but I can control it. I am just now learning to count calories. I have always counted Protein grams and carb grams but now I know I need to count calories too. I can eat low carb and still be way over on my calories.
