:eek:So why do they say all we have to do is eat 3,500 calories to gain a lb. ? I always wondered how it was possible for me to gain 5 lbs in one day when what I ate didn't weigh 5 lbs. Am I a freak? never mind, don't answer that:eek::rolleyes

    confused about restriction

Lizrbit, I just noticed your picture and "round woman peddling" That is so cute. I am so glad you have insurance to pay for your re-banding. Yay!! Now you can start going down again. You'll be losing as you sleep, since you're on the liquid diet for the time being. I loved when I was on liquids and the scale moved every day. I should do it again!!

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Yes, we have the nutrition content on labels here too. They are such a great help. It's when I am not eating at home that I have problems trying to figure otu the calories. I really have to watch them, or I simply can not lose an ounce.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Welcome JC and ibchelle! I had this big long post typed to both of you and hit the wrong key and lost it. I am really glad you found us and will stay around and keep us posted on what's going on in your lives. I am always so happy to see someone younger than me getting banded and taking the weight off. I wish it had been available to me years ago. JC, if you get the chance, I would tell whoever hurt your feelings exactly how you feel and why. I agree, people treat those of us over weight like 2nd class citizens and it sucks. Never again, I am really glad to hear you found someone that you like! Kristi, I had that test taken. It showed I have a very slow metabolism. I already knew that. I made an appt. to get a fill and I hope that helps. I have been enjoying jogging too. I get so bored on the treadmill, jogging really makes the time go by faster. I haven't had the nerve yet to try it outside. I got another email from the guy from Match. It's kind of exciting, since I have had nothing going on in my life for so long. I hope he turns out to be as nice as he seems in his emails. Time will tell!

I don't think pasta would give you a problem without a fill. Just be sure to chew well. You don't want to get plugged up. It hurts.

My favorite is stinky blue cheese. Especially nice fattening blue cheese dressing. Unfortunately, these days it's fat free Italian with 10 measly calories per Tablespoon.

I want to eat that whole cake. I wonder how much I would gain if I ate an entire cake.

Cant get over the hump...this cant be the end!

Does anyone know if what Ol Miss Chic suggested works? She said she was going back on liquids to jump start her weight loss again. I need to stay with this thread. I am tired of these plateaus. I had a resting metobolic test taken which told me I have a very slow metebolism. I already knew that, but at least my dr. knows it now too, and will stop thinking I am not following his rules. I am getting another fill on 6-7, but until then, I am not going to watch every single bite I put in my mouth. I am not going to eat junk food, but I agree that my body gets too used to what I do and I need to do something different. Maybe by the time I get my fill, my body will be ready to start losing again. I have already tried upping the intensity of my work outs, and that hasn't seemed to help.

    slipped band picture

So the band is supposed to be above rather than below that big bulge (which I guess is the stomach) in the first picture? Sorry, I have watched the video of the band being placed, and this looks so much different, it's confusing to someone who knows nothing other than they have been banded.

    Why no Spell Check???

Sorry, but when I type in the box where I always type to post and then right click I get back, reload, bookmark this page, everything but what you're talking about. I thought we all had the same version, but there must be something different. I can go to firefox and see if there is a newer version to download, and see if that will help, I guess.

    confused about restriction

I am so glad you got that fixed. That better not ever happen to me. I would have to pay 10,000 all over again. Is your insurance going to cover all of this? It's really great that this was caught so you didn't just think you were eating less for nothing, like I do.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

What do you like to eat? Can you eat spinach salad? I put spinach leaves and chicken breast that I buy in a package and use Walmart fat free Italian dressing. 10 calories for 2 Tablespoons. I also cook with ground turkey. I cook it and put some taco seasonings in it from a package. Believe me, I am no cook either. For lunch I usually eat some lunch meat lean ham. I have to chew it until there is nothing left to chew. Tell me what you like and maybe I can help. I am not losing well either, but I am getting a fill on <br /> 6-7. Another good thing to watch calories is buy those lean cuisine or south beach frozen meals that are around 200 calories.

That's funny Chrispy. He knows he lost a good thing. You need someone mature. Hopefully, you have found that in new man. I wouldn't worry about going out to dinner, as long as it's very public and they aren't expecting anything because they bought dinner. The guy I winked at hid his email address in his match profile and I wrote him and he wrote back. We'll see what happens. I asked for a picture, and so did he. I told you how my luck runs with that. I get a fill on 6-7. It's official- I can eat too much. I just got so sick of dieting and nothing happening, that I ate 3 pieces of pizza tonight. It got stuck at first, so I waited and then the rest of it went down without a problem. That's supposed to be a sign of the need for a fill.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I try to count calories very realistically but it's really hard when I eat out. It's so much easier when it's on the box and you can read the portion size etc. I bought a book, The complete book of food counts. It has restaurant foods in there too.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

6 weeks and 15 lbs is just fine. You can't compare what other people have lost. We really aren't supposed to lose more than 2 lbs a week. You are just barely banded. You'll lose more as you get more fill. 1 cc is hardly any fill at all. Most people do try to stay around 1200 calories. All people say they can't lose without exercise.

    My Doctors Philosophy on Fill

The VG band is completely different than the 4 cc band. I had a very long talk with my dr. about this.

My Doc Refuses To Give Fill

Don't feel bad. My dr. refused to give me a fill because I had just lost 5 lbs. But I have to add here, that 5 lbs was after a 2 month plateau and I mean 0 weight loss at all for 2 months. Now I am starving all the time and haven't lost anything since that 5 lbs. In 5 months I only lost during the first 4 weeks of the liquid stage, then went 2 months with no loss. Now another month has gone by and I haven't lost anything again. I exercise all the time and make good food choices. I have read what other people eat, and there is no way I am eating as much. I am getting another fill next week if I have to scream bloody murder at my dr.

    post-op overeating

Sticking is from not taking small enough bites and not chewing enough. The first little bit of food goes through the band. If it's too big of a bite or not chewed up well enough, it plugs up the band. Then you add food on top of it and it has nowhere to go but back up into the esophagus. That is not restriction. Restriction is where you get full and stay full for several hours but it doesn't hurt the way it does when food is stuck. It's normal to not lose weight until you have proper restriction.

Chrispy, is that the younger guy? I winked at someone on Match. It's pretty amazing that there are no guys in my age group on there that I am at all interested in. I don't want to date a smoker and that cuts a lot of them out. The one I winked at lives 50 miles away. We'll see if anything comes of it. I doubt it but you never know. I am going to call and see if I can get a fill next week. I am tired of being hungry.
