How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! How did I miss so much? Laura My daughter was pure hell from about 13 until about age 20. It was awful. I am glad those days are over. She is 32 now and pregnant. We still butt heads often. We are just as different as night and day. The guys I am seeing are so far away and it really sucks. I talk to them on the phone and one of them likes to text. I wish Portland wasn't so far from here. I can't even go there for awhile now because my son will be coming for 5 days at Christmas. Plus I really hate that drive. My weight seems to bounce around from 135 to 137 depending on if I've been able to get to the gym. After the holidays, I'll be more dedicated to 5:2 and try to get below 135. -
I never thought I'd be back to my goal of 135. I kept trying but I could not lose. 5:2 just does something different and I don't know what. I am so glad it works though!

Why do you all keep forgetting me? Oregon daisy is Denise I do not want this group any bigger. We would not as comfortable as we are now. If you think Susan that another 5:2 group is necessary so new people can find out, we can change the name of ours or something and start another 5:2 We don't restrict ourselves to talking about 5:2 here, and that's why we feel close to each other. We would not have that with new people, and then there would be a lot of pming going on. I am writing to this guy Nex ( whose nickname drives me insane. apparently , it's from childhood) I met him in Portland. He was very nice and polite. We have talked on the phone some too. He's kind of hard to talk to , but he tells me to call as often as I can, so we can get to know each other. Then it starts sounding like a game of 20 questions. Jonathan, I've talked to him tons on the phone . He drives me insane. I never know when he is done talking so it's my turn, and then he accuses me of interrupting him. I know we will at least stay friends though. He's weird, but funny. I am glad I got to meet him, because I would have blown him off if I had only talked to him on the phone. I am still very bummed about what Rick did. He totally acted like he was my BF for 2 days, then suddenly would not return texts or calls. I hate this. I would much rather find someone here, but I know what's here. REDNECK HILLBILLYS! I think we will all do better after the holidays with our eating plans. Please make your fonts bigger because I have old eyes. -
I never thought I would see 135 lbs again. Everyone says there is a bounce back and I was trying to get used to the idea since I could not seem to lose any of the weight I regained. I've had really good success with the 5:2 way of eating. It helped me from grazing and snacking. I don't know why really, because I could have just given up and started grazing and snacking again. I was so sad though, that there were so many clothes that I loved that I coudn't wear anymore. So I followed the rules of the diet and slowly lost my 15 lb regain. Now I know that even though I am in maintenance, I have to keep following the original rules of being sleeved. Protein first, veggies and only good carbs if there is room ( and there never is) Treats and Snacks need to be a rare thing not as part of my regular meal plan. Thank God for the sleeve. I still have good restriction if I eat what I am supposed to eat and not chips and cookies!

Where is your profile? Is it on fish or cupid or both? I want to see what you finally decided on. I've got 2 that want to see me next time I go to Portland, but haven't got them convinced to come and see me here. -

I want the group closed. Now that Susan has joined, we have all the people we need. We agreed to keep it to around 20. I deleted someone who never posted. Anyone else who wants to be in a 5:2 group, should start anouther. What does everyone else think? And Susan, are we totally private? NObody can read or write in here? -

Laura. You still have not answered me. why does it say host under your name? Have you been made a moderator? I am really trying to sort out all this dating. If I want to date, it's a long distance thing cause there are no men in this town! -

Jane you'll have to find something that's going on in Portland that I can come up for. I am not sure if speed dating is the answer, but there must be other things that would be worth the drive for.! -

I know exactly what you mean. At 61, all I see are fat old bald men. I am still bummed about Rick, even though there were many things I noticed that I didn't like. It's just that he could have just been honest. When I said I was going to my son's house for a couple days, he didn't have to tell me to come back over . It would have been easy enough to say, I'm busy on Sunday so we'll just to stay in touch. After spending time together, I realize we are not a good match. But to tell me to call him and then just not answer his phone is so 8th grade. I am happy to report I am astill at 135! Went away for 4 days and ate out every meal, and didn't gain any wieght. I love 5:2 -

HI everyone, I am in Portland at my motel I am trying to eat right and I hate being away from the scale. They guy I was seeing here seem to be pulling a disappearing act. If he doesn't want to see me again, he should just tell me instead of just not answering his phone. there were certain things I didn't like about him anyway, but there were some things I really liked about him. I 'm confused. Men are so confusing. I wish he would just text me or call back and say hey it was nice but I don't think it would work out to be in a relationship thouigh. or WHATEVER instead of just silence. I"m kinda bummed, but I had another online date last night and I really liked him too. So we shall see. I love the closeness of this group. We had someone ask to join, and I am not sure what to do. If we don't want to add any more people, we need to say so on our home page for the group. That the group is full. We have someone who wants to join. Laura are you able to pm or see who wants to join? You said you couldn't get into the control panel of the group. -
liquids only is really hard and you're setting yourself up for failure. I totally think this diet does the same thing, without you having to starve. I think it's much easier to follow and I think you should start it now , as best as you can. Sure we are all going to indulge in thing onChristmas that we normallly don't eat Do the best you can right now to not eat carbs until Christmas..

My computer crashed. I finally got a new lap top today . i have been going through withdrawl. It took me forever to catch up in here! Laura. why does it say staff under your name? Are you a moderator now? I hope they change the vets forum like you wrote it. I have been talking to a guy in Portland and we are going to meet on Thursday. I am very excited. I am kind of scared though bc his picture is really blurry and far away. I've gotten excited over an online thing before and after finally meeting, there was no chemistry. I've been doing good eating wise. I have nobody to cook for so it's a whole lot easier! -
Globe, what is alternative eating? It's so much easier since I don't have a man in my life right now. I can live on Protein shakes quite easily as I hate to mess up the kitchen. Thanks everyone. It's not going to be easy to maintain 135 I can tell. I can live with 135-137. I am glad it was only 15. I've heard of people gaining back more. It's way harder to lose than right after surgery.
-
Remember with this diet, you can have any green veggie, not just salad veggies. That does not include corn. We're going for low carb here. Cauliflower is allowed as well. If anyone wants more variety, google the induction diet of atkins and see if it differs.

It really is . It's going to be difficult to keep it here. I go up if I add back anything

CGJ, I have a really good friend in Seattle that is around your age. She loves horses. I think you two should meet! I have had a very lonely day. I hope my DD does not go into early labor so my trip to Portland does not get postponed. I need to get out of this town. Yeah, I am putting that house Allen's brother rents on the market this spring. I may have to tell him he has to move out then. I am afraid my 135 is not going to stick. I haven't been to the gym this week but I am going tomorrow for sure. I'm so bored not going. It's better for my mental health not just physical health. -
I don't think I will have any trouble not losing anymore weight. I think the problem will be bouncing up a few lbs on feast days. I don't really feast though. I eat normally. I gain weight very easily. All it takes is going out to dinner, which I do frequently. I had my resting metobolic test taken so I know I can eat 1300 calories to maintain. That helped also.
-
I will definitely continue the 5:2. I think it's a great way to eat in maintenance . The thing is, the low calorie days are not that hard. It's not like really fasting where you just don't eat. I love having control over my eating back. 5:2 seems to help me with control.

Congratulations! I am so glad you're here still posting at VST. So many people quit posting after awhile. Your pictures are adorable! That picture of you in the big jeans is so freakin cute!

How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, Not everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I had a miserable one. Allen's brother came over in the morning. He is renting my other house. What a big mistake I made when I rented it to him. I had no idea Allen and I would be breaking up. Anyway, he gave me this big speech about how Allen and I had a good relationship and we needed to talk and work things out and bla bla bla. he ruined my entired day. Then my 9 motth pregnant daughter came over with my SIL and 5 yr old grandson. Thank God for my grandson , the only bright spot in the day. Anyway I made the entire Thanksgiving dinner for the 3 of us. My grandson barely eats. They left the big mess for me, and went home. I took all the food and tossed it in the garbage. Practically an entire Thanksgiving dinner in the trash. Thank you for posting that link Georgia. I've never actually read anything on 5:2 but I sure know it works for me. But Good News! GOAL! I barely ate yesterday because I was upset all day and the scale said 135 this morning!! -

I am excited that I saw 136 this morning. Now iit's Thanksgiving so I know I won't see it again for a few days. I plan on having some pie today! That's how I lose weight too, normally, I stall then drop a chunk and it takes awhile for the new weight to stick. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Globe I know you're ahead of us by half a day. I hope you had a nice day and I hope your box shows up very soon. I can't wait to hear what you say. -

Globe, what kind of job would you be looking for if you wanted to come back to the states. Surely there is a job for you somewhere besides Afghanastan!! There has to be! Laura, Allen was from Boulder Creek. We were there and Santa Cruz last summer. We had so much fun. It makes me sad now to think about it. I love his family. You live in a very Ritzy town. I don't know what to do cause I have Allen's brother renting my house and he's not getting the stuff done we agreed on when he moved in. I am going to have to get him out of there. It's going to turn into a mess. Other than that, I love having him gone and never cooking . Tomorrow I will cook for my dauhgter and her family, but that's the first time in a month I have cooked. I've eaten nothing but protein shakes and leftover restaurant meals. I did delete someone who has never posted. The user name was something like " I love Jesus" Anyway, there are several people in this group who never post. I am not going to open it up to anyone new until we get the non posters to quit. I'm going to have to PM them I guess. For some reason this system is not letting Laura do it. -

Where do you live Laura? Mushroom hunting is very big around here too. One of my bffs is a mushroom buyer. She is completely rich. She buys all the mushrooms the people bring in but she has stations all over the west coast. Right now she is on her way down to SF to see one of her BFFs who lives in Carmel. Didn't know there was such big money in mushrooms I bet! She sells them to the food network, and all those famous chefs. We should ask some people if they want to stay in our group who do not post, before we open it up to more people. I'd like to have a group where people are going to post and participate, even if they only fast one day a week. The thing 5:2 has done for me is cured me of grazing all evening long. Can someone give me a link to where Jan'es pictures are? I missed a couple of days bc my friend fell and broke his hip and he's been taking up all my time. He has no other friends or family. Globe, I so wish my box would get there soon! I hope I didn't miss anyone. Jane and I might be meeting soon. I go to Portland frequently and apparently, she does too. I am 61 and I refuse to cut my hair. I am so lucky it hasn't turned grey. I would cut it if I had to dye it. Mine got curlier too as I've gotten older. Not anywhere close to as curly as Jane's though. Hers is like Lil Miss Diva who sadly has stopped posting. -
I hope you'll get back to use and let us know if you were able to find out anything.

What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
Oregondaisy replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ice cream is something I can't keep in the house. It's not abstain forever. I will get a cone now and then somewhere. Gone are the days where I dish up my own bowl of ice cream. I pretty much don't eat any bread because it fills me up too much. If I eat bread, I can't eat much of anything else. It seems to expand in my stomach.
