    A thread for Single Bandsters

We have whale watching here. They migrate every spring and fall from Alaska to Mexico and back. It's pretty cool. I am so disgusted with my body. It doesn't seem to matter that I can barely eat. I am still not losing

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I am completely frustrated. I can hardly eat, and yet I haven't lost since the first few days of my new fill. I am going to use up the food I have in the fridge and go back on liquids.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

What's the most frustrating is I thought once I had the right fill, I would start to lose. I can barely eat now, and I am still not losing. I figure I am going to have to drop some more at some point. I am not eating junk food, I go to the gym and my portions are very small. That HAS to make a difference!

    Anyone in Oregon??

Pam, I wonder if they are talking about the "class" that his nurse gives to teach you how to eat with the band. I didn't have to see any nutritionist. There was a nutritionist that came to our support group once, and talked about how much Protein we need, etc. If you are going to his office, I bet it's not actually a nutritionist. The nutritionists are at the hospital, as far as know. I could be wrong, of course! They should have given (or mailed you) a sheet with everything that you had to have done. They require a chest exray for some people. I think that depends on how much you have to lose and your age. They didn't make me get one. I asked in support group why they are quoting 11,000 instead of 10,000. She said it's because by the time you pay for the eating class, the lab work and the paych eval, it's closer to 11,000 but the actual surgery cost is 10,000. The swallow test the next day cost me $160.00. That is done at the hospital. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I could give you my phone # if you want!

I never felt icky. I was out walking 3 dogs the day after surgery. I live in Oregon. I love this thread. Everyone is so friendly, and it's nice to have things in common with other single people.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I am sure this is just temporary. Sometimes we don't lose for awhile, then all of a sudden, we will drop several pounds in one week.

Janice, I know exactly how you feel. I lost the majority of my weight when I was on the 4 weeks of the liquid diet post op. It's so hard to be on a constant diet, eat less, and not lose. It's very frustrating. I don't even think I could handle any more fill either. I can barely eat now, and I am still not losing.

I do put benefiber in some things. It kind of makes me wonder how good that stuff is on the body. I have spilled some on the counter before and it left a white stain on the counter that I couldn't remove. It makes me wonder what it's doing inside the body.

I eat between 1000 and 1,200 calories per day. I exercise 5-6 days a week. I usually go on a long plateau, then all of a sudden I will drop a few. It's waiting in between when I am on the plateau that is so hard. I am going to use up all the stuff in my fridge and then try to do mostly protein shakes and see if I can break this plateau. I know someone that drinks mainly protein shakes and only one real meal, and she is losing like crazy. The thing I hate the most when I stay on liquids is the potty problem. I hate being constipated!

    What's in a Name

I am so original. My name is Denise. My address is 822. My email address is denise822. I use Denise822 on a lot of stuff. It's much easier than having different user names that I can't remember when I go to sign in places.

karla, I am glad you came here and told us about the cruise. I wondered how everyone managed to eat. My daughter just got back from a cruise and she said they spent an awful lot of time eating. It would be hard for me with airfare. I wish they would cruise out of LA. That's much closer for me. I definitely want to try a cruise. Yes, I have made a nice friend on POF. She's a really nice lady almost the same age as me. She is tiny though so she has guys contacting her all the time. I don't seem to have much success with the band. My weight loss has stalled again.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I do eat lower carbs and it doesn't seem to be helping. About the only carbs I have is in the morning. I like to eat a high Fiber Cereal so I don't have problems. I do eat a small amount of fruit too, but I am talking like 1/4 of an apple or two strawberries. My weight loss is stalled again.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I haven't lost anything since I got filled at the beginning of June. I lost 5 lbs right after the fill, but nothing since. In fact, I am having trouble keeping that 5 lbs gone. I think next week I am going to drink a protein drink for dinner. People say not to drop your calories, but that's the only thing that works for me!

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I am on HRT because I can't sleep. As soon as I stopped having periods, I stopped sleeping. The dr. prescribed sleep medications and they didn't even work. The HRT has made all the difference in the world. I can't live without sleep. I am pretty sure it makes a difference in my weight loss. A lot of young girls quit the pill because they say it makes them gain weight.

I am so tired of being in the slow losers club! I talked to my gym and they said they finally hired a trainer. I am going to spend some bucks and learn some new exercises. What I am doing obviously isn't working.

Manatee, I think you should just go and wear shorts. Just because it's a pool party, does that mean everyone is going to swim? Personally, I hate chlorine, and if I was invited, I would just wear shorts and say I didn't feel like swimming. JC I wish I had your energy!

    The ACTI-TRAINER (like bodybugg)

How do these things work. I guess I am just computer illiterate. Do you have to plug it into the computer to find out how many calories you have burned? Or do you just wear it and you can read it right on there?

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I didn't stop my HRT before surgery. I think that's the reason that I am having so much trouble losing weight. I keep wondering if the HRT is slowing down my weight loss. I don't want to go off of it though because without it, I can't sleep.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

The fill is still a good one. My potions have gone down to just a few bites. I lost 5 lbs right after the fill but nothing since. I am metting with a trainer on Wed. I hate that I go on big long plateaus. My surgery was 12-29 because I had New Years Day off from work. I didn't care about the holidays after Christmas. I just wish I knew why my body doesnt' want to lose weight.

Yes, where have all the Dec. bandsters disappeared to???

    Post Op/ food sticking

I remember when I thought that too. You need to do a thread search or an itnernet search so you can see pictures of how the band is placed on the top of the stomach. You do need to go back on liquids for 24 hours. It's always recommended after vomiting. You need to remember to chew until it's liquid. I don't know why you would be getting food stuck at this early stage though. You haven't had a fill yet, I am assuming? Getting food stuck is something we bandsters always have to deal with, and yes it does hurt. The thing to remember is to take tiny itty bitty bites and chew until it's liquid.

Wow! A whole bunch of new single bandsters! Welcome to everyone! Chrispy, I am sorry to hear that, since you liked him. Maybe "the other woman" and him won't work out. Did you email him back and wish him luck? I feel like an old lady in here!

    Welcome Home Lbt Cruisers!

One thing I was wondering......My daughter just got back from a cruise and she said they spent a lot of time eating big huge fabulous meals. How do bandsters deal with that? I don't like being around big tables of food anymore. I hate the temptation, plus it's hard to be around food that I want, but isn't bandster friendly.

AshRae84, I am so glad you joined us. Have you been banded orare you waiting for your surgery? I have kids your age. My daughter had gastric bypass and I remember how she felt when she weighed325. Welcome to Paisley too! Glad you found us. We do have fun here! /> Derbygirl, I am glad you didn't have any trouble with that burger. /> hard to eat around people that don't know we are banded. I have that problem all the time. Have you had some fills yet? JC , You look amazing. I am surprised you don't have girls knocking on your door. Chrispy, I wish I had your problems! too many guys wanting to take you out even if they aren't the ones you're interested in, it's great for a girl's ego! I met a nice lady from Plenty of Fish. I am meeting more single women from there, than men. She is only a couple of years younger than me, but she has the body of a teenager. She was telling me aboutall the men she has met through POF the last few years. She had a problem a couple of years ago, with that same guy who called me when he was drunk. She's very attractive and has only met a bunch of losers. This really makes me wonder if there are any decent available men in my age group. I think all the good ones are married. Anyway, I am still rolling along here. I am stuck on another plateau, which; is maddening. That last fill really has changed my eating habits, so I hope it's temporary.
