What does the "sweet spot" feel like?

For me, I don't get hungry for about 4 hours after eating. I eat about 2/3 of a cup of food, and if I eat more, I feel way too full for a couple of hours. My soft stop is a hic-up. That tells me to stop, and wait to take another bite. That's not necessarily when I am finished eating, but I might be eating too fast. When food gets stuck, it right at the top of the ribs, and it's very painful, just like you swallowed a golf ball. The golf ball feeling is a very good way to describe it. I can tell if it's going to go down or if it's going to come up. For the most part, if I just wait, it goes down. Sometimes I raise both my arms up in the air, and it goes down. Also, when it's stuck, it feels like it's in the esophagus, not the stomach, so the pain can be in the chest.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Yes, Green you're right. I can't overeat. After a meal, I am so stuffed I can't even think about food. It's about 10:00 at night that I end up craving something, so I have a sugar free popsicle or sugar free fudgesicle.
  3. I was banded at the end of Dec. which makes me right at 6 months out. My hair started falling out at 4 months. Some people say it's lack of Protein, but I don't think that's it. When I dieted in all the past years, I never had hair loss.I ate way less protein on all my other fad diets. A lot of people say it's from the anesthesia. I don't really care what it's from. I just want it to stop! My question is, when does it stop? How long does this go on before it slows down? Thanks!

    What to wear

I don't have much on top so I hardly ever wear a bra other than to work anyway. I wore elastic waist pants for about a week, and a sports bra to work. I went back to work right away.

    Lapband Vs. Hunger

Sometimes I am just too full to even think about eating anything what so ever after dinner. I usually manage a sugar free fudgesicle somewhere around 9 pm though. Sometimes I forget about it which is nice. I don't usually eat between meals any more. Since my last fill, I don't think about eating until it's meal time again. I am very happy about it. I just wish the scale would show this to me.

What weight for regular size clothing??

I am stuck in the middle in the pants department. It's a pain. The 18 in the plus size are way too big. The 18 in the misses are tight. I don't have any pants that fit me right. As for tops, I wear a large in misses not plus. I am 5'2" and I weigh 173

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Kathy, I am wondering what brought you to Japan, if you don't mind sharing? It would be really hard to be in a strange country with all the new eating habits that comes with having the band. It sounds like Momlambert has some experience from being there that would be valuable. I hope you keep checking in here!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I am glad to see you back, Audree. Tulip, I never had any problems bouncing back from the surgery. I don't think you'll be miserable on the cruise, but you might be on a liquid diet. That would be hard because I have heard that on cruises, there is food everywhere. You don't want to cheat on that liquid diet because that's when your stomach needs to heal around the band. That prevents a slip later on down the road. People think the liquid phase if for weight loss but it's not. It's for healing, and it's very important.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I wish I could get out of plus sizes. I can't find any pants to fit. My 18's in the plus size are too big and the 18 in the ladies department are tight. I hate that I lose so slowly. This is a bad weekend. There are a lot of friends in town that want to eat out. I am going to stick to my plan of going on liquids all next week. I am mad that I gained back the 2 lbs that it took me a month to lose.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

I met a really cool lady from Plenty of Fish. I think it's great that even if I haven't met a guy from that site, I have made 2 new women friends. I need more single women friends. It gets so old hanging around my married friends. They can't relate to being single at all. I drove over to her house which is an hour away from me. She has a really nice place right on the river. We really hit it off.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

We are glad to have you! I know my problem is I have a very slow metabolism. I had a resting metabolic test taken and it said I need to eat 1,000 calories per day to lose weight. What's frustrating is that I stick to 1,000 calories all the time, exercise 6 days a week, and a month will go by and I don't lose. I hate my body!:help:

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Nursing gal, if you stick mainly to protein, you won't have so many cravings. I know that's easier said than done on vacation though. I have that trouble whenever I go to see my dad. I don't keep any candy or bad things in the house. Next month I go to Arizona to see him, and I know there will be chocolate everywhere.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I am still here, along with the original lower BMI people. Yesterday I gained back the two pounds that it took me a month to lose from eating 4 chocolate chip cookies. What happened to it takes 3,500 calories to gain one pound. I doubt if each one of those cookies had more than 200 calories each. I hope to be good the rest of the weekend and be able to lose those 2 again. I have so much trouble with all the temptation on the weekends!

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I can't eat like that. (You need more of a fill. Unless you are throwing up when you eat that much) If I try to overeat, it's so painful, I can't take another bite. there is no way I could eat 4 cinnamon rolls.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Chrispy, I would like to be doing some online dating. Nothing is happening for me in that department. It's really hard here. Nobody wants to pay for yahoo personals or match.com. They have profiles up, but someone winks or says hi, then you have to pay to email them. Then if you pay but they haven't paid, it means that they can't email back. All the guys on plenty of fish live about 2-4 hours away from here. I think when I get some more of this weigh off, I will break down and pay for yahoo personals, and send out a bunch of messages. Maybe I'll actually get lucky and someone will be curious enough to pay the money to message back.

You know, JC I would have to ask one of my friends. She is very into the whale watching. I think it's like March and September that they are migrating. I had my last fill at the beginning of June. I don't want another one yet. I am doing good with about 1/2 c of food per meal.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I usually have a Protein drink the morning. For lunch I usually have yogurt with a tiny bit of Fiber one Cereal mixed in. For dinner I often have ground turkey. I spray pam in the pan and cook it with taco spices. I usually have a some sort of veggie with the evening meal. Sometimes for lunch I have yogurt with about 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese mixed together. The yogurts I buy are dannon 4oz ones that are made with splenda. They are 40 calories. Sometimes I have a Protein Bar for Breakfast or lunch . I usually have a quarter of an apple of a couple of strawberries for mid afternoon snack. It's just that I have a very slow metabolism. I had that resting metabolic test taken, and it even showed I don't burn many calories. Thank goodness I like to exercise. Bubble, if you have any other questions, I am very open to suggestions. I am going to try drinking Protein drinks twice a day and having one meal all next week and see if that changes anything. And I do drink 64 oz of Water.

    Experienced Bansters-Question about Hair Loss

If anyone thinks I posted this in the wrong part of the board, please tell me. I really want to know from people who have had their bands awhile, how long it took before their hair quit falling out.
  19. I usually just go to new posts and read through them and pick out which ones I want to read. Although, when I post in a thread, my email tells me that a new post as been added to a post that I have replied in.

I didn't feel any restriction until I got 2.5 in my 4cc band. Do you know what size band you have?

oregon fill doctors in Willamette Valley

I thought Dr. Kelly Fitzpatrick does fills both in Eugene and Portland. Dr. Tersigni definitely would do one, but that's a 2 hour drive for you . He charges 160 for fills.

    salads

I eat a lot of spinach in my salads. I put all sorts of other stuff in them too, including chicken. Salads seem to go down fine, but iceberg lettuce has no nutrition, so I use spinach leaves.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I finally dropped 2 lbs this morning after a month long plateau. I just hope it stays off. I have a problem with losing two lbs then gaining it back and losing it again, until it finally stays off and then I plateau for another month. It's maddening!

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Nothing seems to help me. If I don't lose something soon, I am going back on the liquid diet. When I said I eat high fiber cereal, I am talking about less than a half of cup of fiber one cereal. Now I am thinking I should just drink low carb slim fast and eat broccoli for fiber, although my dr. says not to drink my calories.
