Get yourself some sugar free fudgesicles. not as good as a blizzard, but for me they hit the spot in the evenings when I am craving sweets.
-
I had my first fill at 6 weeks. Then I was scared to get another one because I kept getting food stuck. When I learned to really chew my food well, and take smaller bites, I had another one. I have had 3 fills all together and I am getting another one next week. I had my surgery in Dec. and I have only lost 10 more lbs than you! You're doing great! I went for 2 months and lost nothing. If you're satisfied with what you're eating and not feeling really hungry, count your blessings!

Keep your chin up. There are a lot of us that are not losing as fast as we expected. If you don't eat junk food, desserts, and a lot of carbs, I would think you would lose, especially if you are exercising. I put myself back on the liquid diet to break my plateau. It worked. Now I am going to get another fill.

She isn't saying she eats a 1/3 cup of food. She says for sure she can eat more than 1/3 cup of food

Just remember that anything warm opens the band. I take all my medications with warm water and lots of it.

I really like Hormell's turkey chili.

Don't think the GP is a magic cure. I couldn't tell you how many people I know who have had it that gained ALL of their weight back. The lap band does require dieting. I am not a fast loser either. I just know I would be heavier by now instead of having the loss that I do have. Just try to eat a lot of protein and some fruits and veggies. Most people do count calories. A lot of people eat more like a cup to a cup and a half of food, but not rice potatoes bread or other starches. If you know anything about the South Beach diet, that is a good way to eat. There is a thread on here, and you can do a search for it, that explains the whole diet. I hope this helps some. Sorry you're so discouraged.

Some dr.s won't even give you a fill if you are losing well. You need a fill if you are hungry and if you are not losing weight. You only have to wait one hour to drink after eating, not two, by the way.

Need experienced bandsters input please

I eat basically whatever I want to eat. I have had 3 fills. I eat a lot of chicken. I don't eat bread because it has no nutritional value. When I eat, I am thinking about Protein. Noodles, rice, bread etc have no nutritional value. I don't eat eggs very much because I really don't like them. If you learn to take very tiny bites and chew until there is nothing left to chew, you CAN eat many things. -
I swallow capsules all the time. I use warm water and make sure to drink a lot of it while taking the capsule.

I think it depends on how bad the pb is. I had one that lasted for 2 hours. It was horrible. I am sure my stomach and band where very irritated. I went on liquids for a few days after that one. I have had pbs that were just like the name. I burped and food came with it. I don't go on liquids when that happens. I think you can tell how bad or irritated the esophagus is, and whether or not it needs a rest. It ends up feeling kind of like a sore throat.

How stict are you with low carb?

I eat chicken all the time. The only reason I don't each much steak is I try not to eat red meat very often. The times I have had it, I had no trouble. You just have to make sure to take tiny bites and chew like crazy. -
All I know is that my daughter gained a huge amount of weight from that shot. They stopped giving it to for that reason.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI there, Welcome! Are you planning on coming to the support groups? I go to them every month. They are the 2nd and 3rd tues of the month. I find them very helpful. How did you find out about Dr. Tersingi? Feel free to send me any private messages if you have any questions or want support during your 4 weeks on the liquid diet. -
Question for people banded for over a year
Oregondaisy replied to MysticstarD's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
2cc's in a 4cc band is a decent fill. You might want to wait until you learn to chew better and take tiny bites. If you get more of a fill, you're going to get stuck more often and have the golf ball feeling more often too. One of the main reasons for fills is losing the fat pad around your stomach makes the band looser. Maybe you should wait until you lose a little bit more of it and practice chewing until it's liquid so you don't get stuck or have the golf ball feeling. If you're starving, you can always call to get your fill. -
How is weight loss for people over 50?

Welcome! I don't have any advice on how to lose before you get banded. I wasn't required to lose anything. I did the opposite. I have quite a few "last suppers" -
You aren't supposed to drink while you're eating. But I will wish you the best of luck! I lose on protein drinks because I know the calories content of them. It seems if I eat food, I am constantly wanting to pick at other foods. When I decided to do only liquids, I had 4 protein drinks per day, which came to less than 800 calories. I wasn't hungry and I made up my mind I was not having anything else. I wish I could do that when I eat real food for a meal, instead of eating and thinking an hour later I want to eat again.

See Wendell, WE Appreciate you!!!!

The good thing is if you get sweets out of your system, you won't crave them as much. That has helped me a lot.
-
Sure you do! Welcome! Just remember you will lose weigh a lot easier if you find some sort of exercise. There are a lot of different opinions on protein drinks. A lot of people say they drink them in the morning because that's all they can get down. Personally, I drink them whenever I feel like it. Sometimes, I am just not in the mood to chew or think of what to make. I also put myself back on the liquid diet for a couple of weeks because I had been stuck on a plateau for a couple of months. It worked very well. It's so much easier to count calories if I am only doing protein shakes. I have a slow metabolism and I don't lose unless I am under 1,000 calories and exercising.

Just an update
Oregondaisy replied to lawanda jessica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're doing a liquid diet, you should be able to show a nice loss every week. I had to be on liquids for 4 weeks. -
Congratulations! Let's all keep going, doing what we're supposed to, and get closer and closer to goal. !

A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been telling myself that for such a long time. I wish I really could be happy without a man in my life, but the reality of it is, I still hold out hope for a fulfilling relationship. BTW, where do you live in Chicago. I grew up there. -
A thread for Single Bandsters

JC, Yea, I am back. Back to work, back the the cold summer.......But I guess the best part of it is that when it was 115 outside, all I thought about was ice cream! I am back to trying really hard with my band. I get a fill next week. I managed to break my big long plateau by putting myself back on the liquid diet. I actually ate properly today and I better not show a gain or I will be on P.O.ed bandster. -
The trick is not to keep anything like that in the house. I have to talk myself out of going to the Dairy Queen on a regular basis. Lap band talk helps a lot . When I am on here, I am busy reading and not thinking about what I wish I could have. I do allow myself a sugar free fudgesicle almost every evening. they are 40 calories. The usually hit the spot.
