How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Getting a new fill tomorrow. I really hope that gets me going again. Best of luck to all the new people. My surgery was "a piece of cake" I hope yours is too. I wouldn't have even known had surgery other than I had little marks on my belly. -

Oops! I didn't see my name on there so I posted it again. Thanks Audree. I hope I can make that goal. I get so tired of losing so slowly. 5 lbs a month is nothing for some people. I have been lucky to lose 2 lbs some months. And it's not like I am not trying! -

I am at 2.5 right now. I want to go to around to 2.8 . I don't think I could handle 3.0. I don't want anymore food getting stuck than I already am. I am just starting to notice that I can eat a bigger portion. They say when you have lost fat around the stomach, the band loosens. I think that's what happened. I had very good restriction until recently. You're so lucky you haven't had your hair fall out. I have lost very slowly too. I do eat nuts almost every day. I think it's just a shock to the body to have surgery. My hair fell out when my husband died too. I still wish it would stop. It's extremely annoying.
-
Audree, is your hair falling out? I am so tired of it and want it to stop NOW! I eat tons of protein and take all kind of vitamins. I guess it will stop when it wants to. I have done everything anyone suggested to get it to stop and so far, it's still falling out like crazy.
-
Hey Audree, Glad to see you! I was just wondering today when you would be back. I am getting a fill Wed. and I am so excited. I really think this one will help because I am so close to perfect restriction. It stinks that we are all so open in the evenings because that's the time when the head hunger and wanting to snack feelings are so hard to control. I have no problems until around 8 pm when I start having the cravings.

Denise170 170 15 <b I lose very slowly but I am getting a fill. I am hoping for 5 lbs a month which would be really good for me since most times I go a month without losing. I hope this new fill takes care of that. -
Is there a polite way to ask people who type and take up the entire page without putting any spaces in. I always try to put a blank line in there to make it easier to read. It's so hard to read some people's posts when they post an entire page with no breaks or blank lines in between thoughts.

Need experienced bandsters input please

All of my friends got together last night to do crafts. Everyone brought food. There was a big table covered with food. I ate a couple things. After that, then I had no desire to go back to the table the rest of the evening to pick at the rest of the food. I watched everyone else go back and forth to the food table though. So I would say the band has definitely changed my relationship with food. -
I often feel like my band is vibrating. I am wondering if it is my esophagus having spasms. I read some posts about esophagus spasms. It feels really weird. What do the orgasms in your port feel like?:paranoid

I wish I could see it Bubble. I am sure it must look really nice. About the calcium- I have been taking that all along and the chews with the calcium, and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Time will tell if this is going to stop. Maybe like Bubble said, it will stop at 11 months or a year. It doesn't seem to be slowing down at all though, at 8 months. -
maybe we should put a shout out to Carlene in the main section. she seems to be MIA.

Help me understand a few things please.....
Oregondaisy replied to marieze's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am sorry but I can't relate to any of this. I feel so bad for everyone that had pain, gas pain or any kind of pain. I guess I was just lucky. I never had pain of any kind. I had the band on a fri. and went back to work on Mon. I was out walking 3 dogs the day after surgery. All I can say is everyone is different. I live alone, and didn't need help with anything. I slept in my bed and never used any pain medication. I wonder what makes the difference that some people have so much pain and some don't? -
I noticed Carlene hasn't been around. Does anyone know why?

That's the spirit! Just keep doing what you're doing. I have done nothing but whine about how slow this is going compared to how fast other people are losing. then I got a resting metabolic test taken and found out I have a super slow metabolism. Now I just try to eat small portions, stay away from sweets and exercise regularly. I will go on long plateaus, then all of a sudden for no particular reason, the scale will move down again. Not everyone loses every week.

Hey, thanks for filling me in. I think people should just keep their fingers (mouths) shut. If they don't like what you have posted, they can click on the next one, they don't have to say stuff like that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If they don't agree with it, all they have to say is I agree to disagree. I am going to have to ck out the rants and raves!

WHAT FOODS GETS STUCK or give you problems?
Oregondaisy replied to Raven5683's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with the chewing- chew until it's liquid. Then wait and see if you feel any kind of problem. What gets us in trouble is eating fast, things back up, then it's too late. If I do that, I can eat pretty much anything , so far. I am having another fill next week, so that may be changing. With every fill I have had though, after about a week or so, as long as I chew very well, I don't have a problem. Chewing, waiting, taking tiny bites are the key to it all. -
Once you start to lose, and see the scale moving, that's a big incentive too. Ice cream is my biggest downfall too, but I work so hard to drop a couple of lbs and can gain it back immediately if I eat it.

Click on my name over to the left. You'll get a box that says send a private message to Denise. The support groups are the 2nd and 3rd Tues. of the month at 7pm in the North Bend Medical Center upstairs. If you tell me when you're coming, I will wait for you in the parking lot. They usually lock the front door, so you have to go up the stairs to the left of the front door. The one that is the 3rd tues of the month is the best because Robin his nurse holds the meetings. She usually has a topic or a guest speaker. -

I don't think I focus on food as much anymore. Even if I do, I can only eat a little bit of something, unless it's ice cream. I think being banded does change your thinking because you fill up fast. -

Yay Manatee! I am depressed. It's Labor Day weekend and I have no plans. I get so sick of being bored. I should be happy. I dropped another 2 lbs this morning. -
Okay, you need to fill me in. Who are these people Tom and Ron? I usually just go to new posts and have never really gone straight to rants and raves. Are they deleting posts in there? What's going on?
