  1. Nobody seems to know why it falls out. I get tons of Proteins and take all kinds of Vitamins and Biotin and everything they told me to take to prevent it. My doctor said for those who are going to lose their hair, it starts at about 4 months after surgery (thats when mine started) and stops at 9 months after surgery. I will let everyone know as soon as mine stops. I hope it stops at 9 months because I am almost there.

    Major Hairloss..Any suggestions?

I asked my doctor about it, and he said it starts at 4 months ( and that's when mine started) and usually ends at 9 months. He told me in about a month, I would stop losing handfuls of hair every day. I will be so happy if that is true. AND you can bet I will tell everyone here.

    Need experienced bandsters input please

That's really too bad. I never eat mashed potatoes, hardly ever eat soup, the milk I have is with my high Fiber Cereal. I just finished a chicken salad with fresh broccoli and spinach leaves. I have had 4 fills and can basically eat whatever I want. I just chew very well. I know there are some people who have spasms in their esophagus and they have trouble eating. I guess I am really lucky.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

That's exactly how he does my fills. We can have the floroscope if we want, but it's way more expensive because it has to be done at the hospital and not in his office. Once when I told him I wanted an aggressive fill, he gave me the cup of water and it wouldn't go down. He knew exactly how much to take out. Get the band! You'll love it. I struggled for so long to take some weight off, and all I did was gain more. I haven't been down this low since my kids were born and they are now 23 and 26 years old.

Food that goes down no Problem

I look forward to my cereal in the morning. I use the Kashi Go Lean Chrunch and mix it with Fiber One cereal. I put a little splenda on it, and I love it. I personally believe it's really bad for our bodies not to have fiber.

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!

I agree with you Kat. I only had one really bad experience where I slimed for a couple of hours. Whatever was stuck must have finally gone through because nothing acutally ever came up. Most of the time, it's just like it says it is. I burp, and a little food comes with it. I chew my food really well, and it's extremely rare for me to have any trouble.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Yea, I have heard that many times that it takes awhile for the fill to kick in. That has never been my experience. I have always noticed a big difference the next day and didn't feel like eating at all. Today I have been starving all day. I really hope something does change and I start noticing some sort of restriction. I hope I didn't stretch my pouch or something. It costs so much money to have these things checked out:whoo:

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Chrispy, Where is your nose ring? Is it a an actual ring or just one of those little tiny diamonds on the side like April is talking about? I would never have enough nerve to do that! I don't even have a tattoo anywhere. I am a chicken when it comes to pain!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I got a fill yesterday and I can't even tell. I actually feel like I have less restriction than more. I am really disappointed. Some people say it takes awhile to kick in. That has never been my experience. Usually, the day after, I hardly feel like eating. Today I felt like I was starving all day. I hope this changes. I am out of free fills.

A place for bandsters in their 60's

I don't get why some people are saying they can't find this thread. Is it hiding in the wrong section of the board?
  13. Put a shout out for Wendell Edwards. He is losing well and I believe he started at around 500 lbs. He is losing well with the band. I know an extremely huge amount of people that gained all their weight back from the bypass. One lady I know was 450 lbs, had a tummy tuck, and now is back up to 350 lbs. The band keeps us from gaining, as long as we aren't eating a steady diet of chocolate.

Food that goes down no Problem

I need my fiber. I have bathroom problems from so much protein. Kashi Crunch cereal goes down like popcorn. It has protein and tons of fiber.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

There is a place to do advanced search. I put 60's in the title and it brought me right to the thread "a place for bandsters in their 60's. I am wondering what in the heck is going on with me. I got a fill yesterday and I swear I have less restriction, not more. If I didn't love my dr. so much, I would swear he took some out, and didn't add more. I am out of free fills so I am bummed

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I don't know how to do links. I am very computer illiterate. I did a search for it and it's called "a place for bandsters in their 60's" It would only let me put in a place for bandsters though because I think the search only allows so many words.

    Meds and Food

They took my anti depressant off the market, and since then, I have tried every anti depressant out there and they all gave me horrible side effects. I discovered that regular exercise makes all the difference in the world. I am off of anti depressants for the first time in 30 years. If you find you really do need one, try one of the ones that have gone generic. Prozac has gone generic and I bet some of the other SSRIs have too. A lot of people actually gain weight from anti depressants though.

    Taking meds after banding

I take 9 pills every morning. I take them one by one with warm water. I gave up taking any though the next day after a fill. I have thrown up pills the next day after every one of my 3 fills. I just got another one today, and don't think it will hurt to skip one day. I may try in the evening when I am more open and see how it goes. I'll try the most important one first. The trick is to take them with plenty of warm water and drink drink in between pills.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Ashley, I would love to date. I was just telling a friend of mine that I don't even know how to let someone know that I am interested in them. I realized I have no clue how to flirt. We were having lunch and I saw someone I see on my walks who happened to be eating lunch alone. I see him all the time walking on this on this trail with his dog, but I never have the never have the nerve to say anything other than "hi" The online thing is getting me nowhere. Chrispy, I think you are extremely mature and wise beyond your years! JC, I hope your tummy and band are fine. You have been through so much! Way to go Manatee! I don't think I would ever have the nerve to get in a hot tub with a mixed group in a swim suit.

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!

This is not necessarily true for everyone. I hardly ever pb. You just have to be conscience that you have a band and eat like a bandster. That means extra chewing and small bites. You can send me a private message if you want to. The only time I usually pb is right after a fill, the next day. I think it's because things get swollen inside there. You won't get a tight fill at first. You learn as you go along. You shouldn't let these posts stop you. Most of the time, I have no problems. The other day I had a small salad and one piece of pizza. And that's after 3 fills.

    Need experienced bandsters input please

Hi, I am not Terry, but I can answer that. If you eat slowly, take very tiny bites, and chew until there is nothing left to chew, you won't throw up. We learn pretty quickly which foods are just not worth the bother and cause trouble. It just takes awhile to develop these new eating habits, the extra chewing, etc. Once you get something stuck, and you experience what that feels like, it will become more of a habit to chew like crazy.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

It seems like everyone is disappointed that they aren't losing faster. 30 lbs in 2 months is actually very good. 2 lbs a week is what they say we will lose. that's 8 lbs per month. I have never lost 8 lbs in any month except the first. I am right at 8 months and have only lost 42, but I am getting another fill today and hoping that will get the scale moving down again.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

Getting a fill today. I really hope this one get the weight loss going at a steady pace again!

April, That is great news! You'll be in bandland soon! JC, sorry to hear about your ankle. I take it you still don't know whether or not you're having your band replaced? That would be maddening to be left hanging.
