    A thread for Single Bandsters

Welcome Jill! I got a new fill today and I have high hopes that I don't have a leak and that he just didn't fill me correctly last time. I feel very tight right now, and time will tell whether or not this is going to leak out or if I am at my "sweet spot"

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Welcome! I didn't go to the hospital. I had day surgery and was home in 3 hours, so I can't help you with your question. I wish you much success and an easy recovery though. I got a new fill today. I am excited that it doesn't seem to be leaking out. I don't know why last time I got a fill and ended up with no fill. People have said he may have not been in the port right, and I hope that's the case and not a leak.

    Don't know why...

Yay! we are all glad you like LBT. You are so informative and helpful and there are always new people that need you here.I am not brand new, but you were there right away when I was wondering how I lost my restriction. I got a new fill today, and so far I don't think it's leaking out. I feel really tight. Last time I could tell right away something wasn't right. I hope he just put it in wrong last time, rather than the possibility of a leak. Please don't ever leave us again!:)
  4. Soup was the answer for me too. Just remember that this is a time for healing , not for losing. If you need to eat more often, do it. Eat whatever is allowed on your list. I really enjoyed egg flower soup. I had to spit out the peas, but for some reason, it felt more like dinner.

    How sore was your abdomen?

I had 2 c sections and there was no comparison for me. I never even used pain meds with my lap band surgery. I know that most people don't have as easy of a time as I did, but I honestly wouldn't have known I had surgery other than there were little marks on my tummy. I kept a heating pad on my left shoulder because everyone told me to, and that would be where I would have pain. I kept waiting to be in pain, and never was. I hope you have an easy recovery!

    60 plus banders

Go to search and then go to advanced search. I think the thread is called a place for bandsters in their 60's. You may not be able to put the entire thread title in.

Chrispy, you area adorable! How did Mike take it? I am so glad you have enough confidence that you felt you didn't have to "settle" Some women would rather stay in relationship whether or not they are completely happy. I just sent my picture to someone and haven't heard back from him. Maybe I need to get a better picture. This is getting old.
  8. I just wanted to say something to anyone who is new or thinking about getting banded. I lost my fill (will find out why tomorrow) I can now eat like I don't have a band. After having restriction, and now having none, I can honestly tell you that having restriction is better. I am really afraid I have a leak and will never have restriction again.
  9. I agree with WasaBubbleBut. That is too much money. I don't know very many people that needed a week off work. You could easily get it done somewhere else and still get your week off.

    Ugh. I need a fill, I think.

I am lucky too that my dr. is like 5 minutes from my house. 6-7 hours driving is an awful long trip, if you are sure they will give you one at your next appointment.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I paid $10,00.00 because I knew I couldn't keep the weight off even if I lost it without the band. There are very few people on lapband talk that don't think it's worth it. Most everyone says they would do it again. Go and look at the before and after pictures!
  13. If you are in WA state, you could come to Oregon and have Dr. Tersigini do it. People come from Idaho, Montana, Nevada etc. He charges $10,000.00 I was only off work 3 days. I had the band on a friday, Monday was a holiday, and I went back to work on tues.

Heck ya, I meant to call it the elliptikill. That machine kills me. In order to get my heart rate up and keep it up, I have to set it at between level 10-12 on the resistance. I hate it, but I do it. No pain, no gain I guess that holds true with the ELLIPTIKILL!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Thanks Terry! You are very thoughtful. I noticed the next day immediately that things weren't right. The day of the fill, I am on liquids for 24 hours so it took until the next morning. I have zero restriction. He didn't use the fluoroscope. He took out what I had which was 2.5 and said he was only going to add .25. So I know that I still had the 2.5 from my third fill. I have no idea what went wrong, and why I don't have the 2. 75 I am supposed to have. I can't wait until Friday to find out. I am worried!:faint:

JC, My appointment is Friday and I can't wait. This is horrible. I am trying not to eat more until my appointment, but I am hungry all the time. It's like I forgot what it was like before I got banded. You completely amaze me with all that exercise! I went to an aerobics class this morning and now my back is killing me. No more jumping around for me. It sucks getting old. I have to stick to the elliptikill and the stair stepper and they get so boring!
  17. Chickie, you DO look amazing!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I am still here. I am completely bummed out right now though. I went for my 4th fill and completely lost restriction. I have an appointment friday to see what happened. I am really afraid I have a leak. I don't have the money for a bunch of expensive tests, either. I can't lose at all, if I don't exercise regularly.

Where have I been from edieparks

I have been wondering where you've been! Does anyone know what the heck happened to Carlene?
  20. I personally know quite a few people in my support group that are at goal and have been for 3 years or more. They all exercise.
  21. Oregondaisy

Still sick at stomach. What is going on???

I don't have an answer for you but I wanted to tell you that I hope you feel better. I would say call the dr. too. I never had any nausea. The doctor should be able to tell you what to do.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

No, he didn't use fluoro. He pulled out the 2.5 and said he was only going to add .25 because he felt I was approaching my sweet spot. The fill was last Wed. I thought at first it was what the people say about it taking a few days to kick in. But I have been doing food tests. I eat a lot of breast of chicken salad and normally have to chew the chicken until it's liquid. I haven't had to chew any more than any person who doesn't have a band. I am so freaked out because I don't know what's wrong or how he's going to find out. I really don't have the money for a bunch of expensive tests. I have an appointment Friday and I guess I will find out if it leaked out or not, and what the next step will be.

I am so bummed out. I went in for a fill, and instead of gaining more restriction I lost all restriction. I don't know why. I am afraid I have a leak. JC, I really feel for you, now that I know what it's like to have an unfilled band. This stinks. I just don't get how he added more saline, but I totally lost restriction. I don't know enough about this sort of thing, but it seems to me that when he pulled it all out, and told me I still had it all, when he pushed it back in, it went somewhere else.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I went in for a fill and instead of getting more restriction, I lost all restriction. I am afraid I have a leak. I am really bummed. I don't even have to chew well anymore. I hope they can figure out what is wrong. I don't have the money for a lot of complications.
  25. Oregondaisy

    Loosing fill but no leak!!!

I am having this trouble too. I had a fill on Wed. and it feels like I have less restriction than I started with. It does get really expensive with all the tests that have to be done to find out if you have a leak. That twist in the tubing is interesting. I would hate for my doctor to tell me everything is there when he pulls it out, yet it's not getting to the band. He is always telling me I read too much stuff on here.
